The travel and airline industry is huge with so many options I can see how that can be an intimidating choice to make. Delta (You start off with only 6 reserve days a month) and Southwest (Can rack up extra hours from your base credit) make the most money and the companies are strong fiscally and are a great place to work like JetBlue.

I’m a Nurse totally burnt out and thinking about becoming a flight attendant just for a change. I will still maintain my Nursing license because I worked so hard for it. I just can’t do it Day to day anymore. I’m considering JetBlue or Southwest. I’m from Connecticut born and raised. So I know what you mean about the weather and getting dark by 5:30pm in the Fall & winter. I love Connecticut , but I don’t love the weather. 😂 Lol! Moved to South Florida last year and I love it!

What an interesting question young lady, my Cousin Lisa would say Delta since that is her employer but I guess it depends on your base and benefits and so on. She lives in the Atlanta area and would probably never relocate out of a base in the South. The South is where our families heart lies. Stay safe Vera. ✈️ ✌️👍

You should try using light therapy. I use a Verilux light during the winter living in Michigan. It has made a huge difference in my life during the winter.

good video It helps to live within driving distance of the airport. Commuting is tough. Plus, after taxes, and all expenses your take home pay is crumbs

The weather affects my mood most of my life, live in the biggest city in the midwest. Winter bums me out, summer is nice, but can be too hot.
I’m from Vancouver Canada, where it rains a lot of the year, and I miss it! ☔️ I’m currently living in south Texas and it’s warm and bright most of the time, but on rainy darker days I’m so happy because it reminds me of home ❤️ I’m pretty sure I’m one of the only people who’s like “yay rain!” 🤷🏻♀️😂
During the summer I like an occasional rainy day, gives me an excuse to do nothing lol

The most popular event in Fort Worth, TX is the stockyards where you see live cattle. Being from Dallas, Texas, I love pork rinds since I was a kid (my late father (country boy) would buy them for me when he went to the liquor store). Same reason as you, I did not become an airport employee for the money (there was a time where no one in the Department of Aviation at Dallas Love Field airport was getting raises (for several years) because of the City of Dallas budget problems in the 1990s; I chose to work for the Department because of the excitement working around aircraft activity, job security, health insurance and pension (which I get since I am retired). Someone asked me would I work at an airport again knowing the challenges of the work schedule and little pay; my answer is YES!!!!!!!! because I am able to retire at an early age. People react strangely when I tell them I am retired.

Since you're on a pork rind kick, try sour cream with salsa to dip your pork rinds in...nummy!!...so glad you enjoy your job!!...if I was going to do my career over I think it would be something for me to consider...have pretty much been a California girl/retired lady and never a world traveler so good for you having been able to have all your trips to great places under your belt!!...take care and stay safe!!

I know what u mean about it getting dark early, its going to be worse after Sunday. Not a good time of year moodwise.

Next time you’re in Miami, you may want to check out Garcia’s Restaurant on the Miami River for some excellent seafood .Perricone’s has some good Italian,and there is the Moshi Moshi ( Japanese/ Peruvian fusion)restaurant next to Perricone’s.They are all in the Little Havana district .There is the Restaurant Versailles on SW 34 th Ave and 8th St where part of the movie “ CHEF” was filmed.

I love Jet Blue. Only domestic airlines I’ve flown for over 10 years. They stopped flying from Charlotte NC 😥😭. I had to fly AA in May & it was horrible. I have to fly AA again in 2.5 weeks and we are dreading it. Vera, tell your company to go back to direct flights from clt to any of the NY airports. 🙂
Hi Terri! Jetblue still flys in and out of CLT but only to Boston right now. Hopefully NY will come back!
I personally think the 3 legacy carriers are the most difficult in hiring. Delta is especially difficult. On the other hand, Spirit is relatively easier in hiring. I think it is important to point out that one must live within 50 miles of their base. If they even get that city as a base, when they start working.

Hey Vera. Thanks so much for your insightful video. I have, I think, a unique situation. I’m doing extensive research and looking at when airlines are hiring. I’ve heard that the time between interview , training etc can be a few months. I’m a teacher looking to completely shift gears. Would it make sense to apply now ? I’m concerned about getting called for an interview etc while school is in session… (😩) Any insight would be greatly appreciated ❤️
It’s never last minute they would give you time to plan ahead for your interview! But yes it can be quick or it can be a months long process all depends!

Does B6 have an MCO or FLL base with all of the flights there? If so would either be a better fit?
I have those as options but I like my trips out of Boston. I've considered FLL but its not a top priority at the moment.

Yes, I’m a flight attendant and I do bare minimum but I do wear makeup. You’re not considered polished otherwise.
