    I understand that you don't get to know what trips you will be flying when on reserve, but do you get to know ahead of time what days you will be on reserve? in case commuting to your base airport? would you know you are on reserve during certain days of the week is another way to put it?

    i’m currently waiting for my training date with you airline! i was wondering how many days off you were able to have when you flew 120 hours? i’m wanting to work as much as i’m able to atleast for the first year but also don’t want to neglect spending time with friends and family!

    • @TheDailyDeparture
      @TheDailyDeparture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      120 hours was 8 days off. It. Am be really hard to find a balance, you definitely have to choose wisely now you spend your time and working a lot can be a lot of sacrifice. Just have to do what’s best for you though! I will say on straight reserve it can be hard to fly a ton of hours because you’re limited with what you can pick up

  • @privateperson2098
    @privateperson2098 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    2 hours would be tough...I live an hour from DFW and it takes an hour to shower and face and hair done. While on reserve, you would need to be at your base the day before, correct?

    • @queque7153
      @queque7153 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually ppl on reserve on there reserve day are almost already ready just in case because you have to also put traffic into factor and in case you get random in the airport u have ti go the tsa pre check

  • @SparkleJae
    @SparkleJae 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the pre-boarding , like say a reserved flight attendant gets call to do it because the initial flight attendant to board is running late, does that mean the flight attendant on reserve would have to leave after the flight attendant running late, gets there ? Or do they work together for that that trip ?

    • @mindtrick205
      @mindtrick205 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Very late but if the original flight attendant shows up the FA on standby only does the boarding. If they don’t show up on time then the FA on Standby does the flight.

    QUESTION: Do you get a discount for food in the airport?

  • @christinac25
    @christinac25 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do mainlines usually only hire attendants with previous experience? I just got my TBNT from delta but wasn’t too surprised, because I have no experience in the field (but plenty customer service experience.) So I guess my question is do you usually always have to fly smaller regionals before securing a mainline. Thanks!

    • @TheDailyDeparture
      @TheDailyDeparture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I might have mentioned it in this video but definitely have mentioned it in others, but no! I actually think they might prefer no past regional or airline experience. They get so many applications like 100k give or take and usually only hire about 1-2k so it’s just a really competitive process. Keep applying though!!

    • @msangie824

      2 hr call out means you must be able to report at the airport within 2 hours of the call from crew scheduling.

      Atlanta may not be a base they offer at training. You must take what they give you. You can put in for a transfer to Atlanta and hope to eventually get it.

    Hi! Thanks for the informative video. I have a question. Does American keep newbies strictly on Reserve for a long time? How soon after training do you actually get to fly? Do you all have to memorize the announcements in training like other airlines do? Thanks for your response.

    • @TheDailyDeparture
      @TheDailyDeparture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Right out of training you have about 4-6 days before you start flying if I remember correctly. At aa reserve is every month for a year, then 1 on 1 off for 3 years then 3 off 1 on
      No need to memorize the pas, over time to will memorize them though

      Most airlines allow you to fly as many hours as you want. But legally, you must have 24 hours rest within a 7 day period.

    Can you go into more detail about the negatives? Particularly how you were treated by your Supervisors for the slightest infraction. Also explain what happens if you are legitimately sick... are there any penalties? I just think it's good to give a well rounded account of your experiences and not highlight the good and downplay the bad. As with any job... Surely there are some significant things you have issues with?

    • @TheDailyDeparture
      @TheDailyDeparture  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you are sick and call out you get a “point”… there is a point system and disciplinary levels depending on how many points you have.
      Of course every job has pros and cons. Unfortunately I can only speak to my experience and share the job from my perspectives. If someone has negative experiences and perspectives and they wish to share that they can. I’m sure it would open up the door for potential termination or disciplinary actions from their company though

    What do you mean when you say I was 13 days on and 17 off? Does it mean that you spent 17 full days at home, or you still spend some more time commuting/having layovers, etc.?
