From the civilian pilot point of view. Things that flight engineer knows like aircraft performance, weight and balance, airspeed and weather. Pilots also need to know how to do it. To make sure that the numbers are correct.

ᄋ설티토드 Your Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test scores, physical exam, citizenship and moral standards determine your job/career qualifications. Until you have taken BOTH your ASVAB test and completed your physical exam. The Air Force does not know what jobs/careers you would qualify for.
For example: you could have a perfect Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) score and find out during your physical exam at Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) and you find out that you are red & green deficient during your eye exam or some other medical issue. So you do not qualify for any EOD, Special Warfare, flying careers, SERE, electrical or mechanical jobs, Security Forces, Fire Protection, etc. … OR … you could be in perfect physical shape & have no medical issues, but you have low ASVAB scores. So you do not qualify for certain jobs that require higher ASVAB scores.
You may view our career fields the Air Force has to offer. Each page will provide a career description, if it is an Enlisted, Officer or Health Professions and career requirements: www.airforce.com/careers/browse-careers

What are the prerequisites to be a flight engineer? When I was in it was you had to be a mechanic, airframe or Powerplant first. My training was at Altus.

Am I don’t understand that airman are going into this career field straight out of basic training? It’s always been a career field people cross train into having been at least a Senior Airman.

Interesting, not a lot of engineering spoken about in this video. More concerned about putting on the green overalls and going flying. You don’t seem to be engineers at all?

A year and a half of schooling is being condensed into a 2 min video . Did you expect them to go in depth with everything they do ?
