I think the third day music is the scariest music I've ever heard, It's upbeat but extremely ominous in the background. This game is truly terrifying to me, but is still my favorite Zelda game
Those low strings make it one of the creepiest tracks in any game really. I think some of them might've been intentionally out of key, not sure though.
Day 1: Everything is OK, everybody is getting ready to celebrate, nothing could go wrong. Day 2: The thought of the moon's destruction is starting to creep up, you try to forget about it but you can't. Day 3: You are panicking and the wave of depression washes over you. You dread its coming Final Hours: You finally accept that you are about to die and let everything go. Everyone is cowering in the deepest corners of their homes. It's all over.

I remember doing that as well. Also, in the windwaker, I went in the ocean swimming and was about to drown, so I ran upstairs and his about 10 minutes. Lol, good times
GoldenPortaPotty The entire game is filled with racism. The Bomber children dont want him in their gang because he is a deku whereas the guards of the Deku Palace wont let him in since he is not a Deku! Some merchants wont even sell items to Link when he is not human.
vesevio I think it's normal for kids to reject a Deku kid. It's like a bunch of kids who are friends with each other and won't accept outsiders. The Dekus are just the same (though the Dekus are in a "monarchy" so it's understandable that they don't let anyone in). The character that shows the most racial preference is the lady at the Treasure Chest Shop in East Clock Town. Go in as a Goron, pay 30 rupees; go in as Link, pay 20; go in as a Deku, pay 10; as a Zora, pay 5. That said, as a Goron you win a Heart Piece, but still...
Who ever made this music (Koji kondo?) Deserves an award. They managed to capture the atmosphere of festivity and joy to dread and despair so accurately.

3:47 Wow! Koji Kondo really caught the idea of death and despair with this music. Listening to it really makes you feel like it's the end of the world. This game was and still is ahead of its time. So much emotion!
Day 3 is the scariest. People can no longer ignore the elephant in the room, or in this case the moon's face 100 feet from the clock tower. Then they just let it all go and accept their fate in the final hours....such a dark game.
I've seen lots of these short descriptions of each song here, so I've decided to contribute my writing share... If you want, read this to the music. *Day 1* The festival is coming up! What a time to be alive. Everyone is very cheerful today, setting up the preparations. It's a very bustling, sunny day in the town. Just then, news broke out... The moon is going to fall...? "Haha, what?" were your first words after hearing the news. They sounded doubtful, yet slightly nervous. Your crush darted you a glance that conveyed both skepticism and slight worry. They looked like they wanted to say something to you, but they didn't. You looked up at the sky. There it was. The angriest moon you'd ever seen. It was still a safe distance away, but gawking down at you every so eerily. And... it seemed to give off the illusion of inching closer, creeping towards the Earth with every second. But was it really? Maybe it was just your eyes tricking you. But there was a feeling deep inside you that stayed there for the rest of the day... the feeling of everything being a bit... off. It's okay. Everything will be fine... right? Right. A hero has already set out to save everything. Best not worry about it, right? Anyway, let's get on with the festival preparations! *Day 2* It's raining today, which made everything feel slightly unsettling and ominous. Not to worry... right? "Are we gonna be okay?" you asked the town spokesperson. "I... think so..." he said with a shaky voice, which made it clear he knew you were not, but was trying to be optimistic. You backed up a bit and looked at the sky. What you saw actually made your heart skip a beat. The moon was a lot closer than it was yesterday. Like, a lot closer. It was startling and terrifying at the same time. You looked back down and saw your crush running by, covering their head from the rain with their hood. They were clearly rushing to get somewhere, so you didn't say anything to them. You went about the rest of your day as normal, save for the occasional peek at the sky. The moon seemed to be inching closer still, and it was clearer than before... but maybe it was just an illusion? You tried not to think about it the rest of the day, but you couldn't. There was a strange tone of doom throughout the entire day. It just didn't feel normal... *Day 3* You woke up, and what you saw was absolutely unnerving. The entire town was in a wave of depression and panic. The bright sunny atmosphere of Day 1 had morphed into something very sinister and heartbreaking. No one denied it anymore. The end was coming, and no one had been quick enough to stop it. And immediately you felt heartbroken, that this would be the end of you, and everyone you ever loved. Was this really the last day you had to live? You had a deep feeling of regret and sorrow inside you, feeling as if you didn't fulfill your life's dreams. But it quickly morphed back into panic and misery, when you looked up at the sky. There it was. The moon, creeping up on the Earth faster than ever. You'd wondered if your eyes were tricking you into thinking it was moving before... but there was no doubt it was today, right now. You saw your crush run through the town once again, and you tried calling out to them. "Wait!" you said and called their name. Either they were too panicked to stop and talk to you, or they didn't hear you... or they just flat out ignored you. And suddenly, you began to cry. You didn't know exactly why, but you did. You felt so alone in that moment, but it was a mixture of sorrow and fear. The bell in the tower tolled loudly, getting faster every few minutes, and its menacing noise echoed in your mind. *Final Hours* You sat down by your favorite fountain in the town, and silently told it goodbye. Tears streamed down your face as you went through your old memories again. You were no longer panicked, but instead incredibly hopeless. You were becoming accepting of your imminent death. 'I should be living my last hours to the fullest', your subconscious whispered to you, but you ignored it. You were in shock, too sad to have any fun. And as you thought you were the last one in the town who hadn't taken shelter, it turned out you were wrong. A man ran up to you and told you, "Go! Find shelter! What are you doing out here alone?" "Oh... thank you," you said in a quiet voice and ran down into a cellar. Who you saw in the cellar though, made your heart skip a beat. It was your crush, in a fetal position, with a face that conveyed just as much shock and sorrow as you were feeling. And they looked up at you, and their eyes widened. You stared into their eyes with a look of mercy and care. Without one word exchanged between the two of you, you sat down with them, the both of you contemplating your lives that were now coming to an end. You had something to say, but even the mere thought of saying it made your throat close up. This was your last chance. You had to say it. But you couldn't. Suddenly, water started trickling in. Something had started leaking, and your cellar was slowly filling up with water. It made the both of you very cold. So you just sat there in absolute despair and regret, wishing your life could have been better spent. So much wasted time. If only you'd known exactly when the end was coming. Then maybe you would have rethought some of your life's choices. But it was too late now. You sat there, finally accepting the end. It's all over. You were out of time. You had a painful urge to say what was on your mind... and you almost did, but were stopped by a sudden huge tremor. The moon had just made impact. Instinctively, your crush grabbed your arm, and their head landed on your shoulders. And within seconds, a burst of heat and flames rapped at the cellar door. Previously very cold, the two of you were now engulfed in a burning heat unlike any you'd ever felt before. Knowing it was all over, the two of you embraced with tear-stained cheeks, putting your heads against each other's. You could feel each other's soft yet fast heartbeat and desperate breathing (which was getting more difficult by the minute). It was a very bittersweet moment for the both of you. And the thought crossed your mind again. You had to say it! What were you thinking? This was your last moment to live! Just before the flames erupted and struck the both of you down, you said in a desperate voice, "I love you!" As you lost consciousness and the overwhelming heat started fading into heavenly coolness, you could have sworn you heard your crush's voice whisper back to you at the very last second of your lives. And it said, "I love you too..."
I listen to this while I'm doing homework, and make it a personal challenge to finish at least one subject's assignment before "the world ends." Sure, it puts me into panic mode, but it makes things exciting! XD
At least, until you finish it. But then, if you do so after this comment, you have to then compare it to a certain plague that happened in 2020, and thus have to deal with, well, THAT mental reference.
Its nothing out of the ordinary of what Nintendo has and still does. They're not afraid to delve into dark themes as long as they're not offensive to most people. Take Mother 3 for example; the reason they refuse to localize it is because that game deals with extreme themes that most other developers get flack for. Child abuse, animal cruelty, trans women stereotypes. Mother 3 had all this and it's understanding why Nintendo refuses to bring it outside of Japan
Harold Balczac And also Cremia gave her little sister, Romani, Chateau Romani (alcohol), on the final day, accepting fate. She told Romani to go to bed with her that final night.
Shout out to the music director or whoever hade the decision to have a different town theme everyday. The third day fits so well and creates much an atmosphere. This game is genius.
@@4ns00 Maybe, I really like botw but there are two thing I don't like from it, 1.- the Ost in general (only hateno, korok forest and the castle were acceptable) 2.- Link's weak guy design (Dark link with his hero of time design looks 1000000 times better)
@@jonathanzamora4201 I personally disagree on the design of link. I found him to be one of the best designed links in the franchise. It just felt right with the more open and calm atmosphere of breath of the wild. But I agree that if a darker game were to release having a stronger link would be better :p
But it fits SO well, it makes it fit with the panic of everyone realizing that the moon IS going to fall, and that they're too late to do anything about it.
Day 1: "What do you mean?! That moon won't harm us! No problem, it'll go away." Day 2: "Ok...that thing is getting really close...it WILL leave right?! Yeah, I thought so" Day 3: "EVERYTHING IS OK! You see, just listen to the flute; everything's all good. But that bass...my death is imminent. No, the flute is covering it...I'm all good." Final Hours: "MY MAIL DUTIES!"
First time I played (so like in the tutorial) I didn't expect the final day to come so quickly while i was still trying to figure out what to do. When I heard the Final Hours song and saw the moon getting closer I just looked up and waited for the game over screen. I'll never forget that moment
Definitely been my favorite Zelda game since it came out, and as an adult, I appreciate how many mature themes it really has in it for something designed for kids. If there was ever a soundtrack that needed a great orchestra to remake the music, this game would be it. I can't wait to relive this one next year.
I love the Clock Town soundtrack, and how it begins all happy and giddy, but by the time it ends, it's just sad and depressing, and a pretty creepy. Thus is the game.
I love how each of the songs reflect the emotions of each day. Day 1: The song is cheery and .lighthearted, reflecting how people don't really believe that the moon will fall. Day 2: The song is faster and much more somber, people are starting to realize what's going to happen but they still hide behind denial. Day 3: The song gets really fast and always has this menacing background, the mask denial is begining to crumble all the while people are striving to keep it together.
The Final Hours sounds like your life is passing in front of your eyes and you are thinking how your life could be if you made some things different, in your family, friends and dreams going away and how would you feel when the moon were killing you in some minutes. This is really a master piece, and thinking this were made 21 years before is crazy, i hope they make a remake for today standarts, would be amazing...with OOT as well
Day 1: Friday after getting out of school- "sweet now I don't have to do anything for a night and a day" Day 2: Saturday- "well this is the day that i don't have to do anything; I might as well enjoy it. But I'm going to have so much homework to do tomorrow" Day 3: Sunday- "HURRY HURRY RUSH RUSH RUSH I HAVE LIKE 3 TESTS TOMORROW AND AN ESSAY I HAVE TO DO BUT I STILL WANT TO ENJOY MY DAY OFF OF SCHOOL I'M SO CONFLICTED" Final Hours: Sunday Night- "Maybe if I break my arm I won't have to go to school tomorrow. Yeah..."
No No no you're confusing me with the Lone Wanderer from Vault 101. I am the original Dweller from vault 13 who single handedly saved my vault from dying of thirst and stopped an army of super mutants from taking over the wasteland. Yeah I'm kind of a badass.
not you... its creeping me out too... i guess you hear the quiet doom saying tone much more, and that is what is creepy, doom filled music under happy go lucky music.
Day 1: Everything's cheerful in the creepy town of Termina, nothing could go wrong! Right...? Day 2: Feeling some spooky vibes around here, maybe because it's raining... Day 3: HELP! HELP! LOOK UP AT THE SKY! WE"RE ALL GONNA DIE! Final Hours: We're eventually gonna die somehow.. might as well live the final hours to it's fullest.. right? (Alternative ending) *Link goes to the Astral Observatory and looks up at the sky during the final hours, then exiting, then going back, then exiting, and the moon is slapped where no moon has gone before.* Day 4: WE"RE SAVED! TAKE THAT, SKULL KID! HAHAH!
Kawaii Banana Kun Inverted song of time: wwwwwwwwhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyy aaaaaammmmm IIIIIIII ttaaaalllllkkkiiiiiiinnnnnngggg sssooooooooooo sssssslllllllllllllloooooooooooooowwwwwww???
am I the only one who finds Day 2's theme to feel more relaxed than uneasy? it's still a pretty chill theme, and combined with the rainy atmosphere, i feel like it has an easygoing and cheery tone.
My first time playing MM Day one: "Just a moon." Day two: *running around in field* "Just a super moon" Day three: "w h a t" Final Hours: *mom i told you the man in moon would be pissed because you said he wasn't real.*
I like how the music for the first day is light and easygoing, and then it gets faster and faster as the days go by, as if to remind you and Link that the end of the world is approaching and you need to hurry. I like Day 3's music best; it sounds fast and peppy but there's also those deep, ominous sounds in the background. This is your final day -- you don't have much time left.
Sociobid here in Norway we get 2 months too but it starts on 21 August but I always end up whit my birthday on 22 August which is always the second day of beginning of the school so I guess you could say I have some bit of sarcasm
Some reason, the songs are like the 5 stages of grief in a mixed order. Day 1: Denial Day 2: Barganing Day 3: Anger Final Hours; Depression and Acceptance
Day 1: You prepare you're Imperial fleet to to take a fight to the Rebel scum. Day 2: You meet with resistance as your Atat's go down in a blaze of fire but you still hold the ground. Day 3: Rebel scum fighters prepare an all out assault against your vastly superior space station known as The Death Star Final Hours: You are thrown over a cliff falling towards your space station ractor by your Traitorous Apprentice in a display of Sickening Love of a father towards son.
The cycle from your POV: First Day: You look up and see the Moon is far and you listen to the calm music while speaking to the citizens. First Night: You look up at the Moon again and it hasn't moved. The music is replaced with a silence that creeps you out. Second Day: You look up at the Moon and notice it moved closer and you also notice the bad weather and you start to get concerned. The music is also sped up a bit which makes you a bit urgent. Second Night: The Moon is still in the same position, the night is different because of the weather and its quiet again. Final Day: Moon is still the same but now it's falling in real time. The Music is sped up even more with weird sounds, people are packing their things and the sky is weird. Earthquakes occur too. Final Night: The Moon is really close now and nearly everyone evacuates. The silence is back once again and the clouds turn red. Final Hours: The Moon is very close now, the Clock Tower is open, music encouraging you to hurry starts playing and the bells are ringing non stop.
Day 1: Yay, the moon has come to celebrate the festival of time! :D Day 2: OK, Bit too close for comfort, please don't try to eat the cake. Day 3: Moon. Stop. The cake is not yours. Stop right there. Final hours: MOON, JESUS CHRIST. DONT EAT THAT CAKE PLEASE NO, STOP YOU C- Boom.
Last hours music is so cathartic...so weirdly calm, like the catastrophe is inevitable, just let it be. Hug your loved ones and try not to think to much. This is the end....They did an amazing job.
*0:01* - I have 72 hours to do homework, now i can safely play games. *1:30* - Just one more (boss, level, TV episode, song) and i'll start studying, I swear. *2:37* - Beginning the homework and realizing i have a 1% chance of passing. *3:47* - Sleep or study?
Day 3 is what depression feels like. You try so hard to keep it together, you keep on trying but it all feels futile. Even when you smile, you feel a heavy pit in your chest. You try to do the activities you used to enjoy but darkness constantly looms over you. You try so hard to fight and be optimistic but its always there. Whether you ignore it or not. Everything feels so pointless and futile when you know you're so close to a terrible fate. During your final hours, you realise you're helpless, you stop fighting. Its all futile after all. Its all pointless after all.
An accurate description. In a way, I often have to figuratively play the song of time in my life to go back to that happier first day, but inevitably that third day will come again and I am never prepared for the mental burden of it.
Clock town in the second day is so nostalgic for me, it reminds me when I was doing the Kafei and Anju mission, pursuing a woman in the rain and wait for a kid to leave his house to go inside is something that I won't forget from my childhood
Yet another perfect soundtrack from Mr. Kondo! Thank you sir! What a brilliant musical concept of slowly approaching doom and sense of urgency. The moon is falling and cannot be stopped. It will without a doubt destroy everything. Unimaginable horror. Thx 4 the upload brotha, I I liked how you mashed the four songs together into one.
Kick ass game. While I was too terrified to finish the game as a kid, (and I got stuck at Woodfall and I got Pokemon Gold), when I started my freshman year in college I found myself with free time.. So I downloaded Majoras Mask and beat it. Despite the outdated controls (but the masks never get old) I still hold it close. Like a piece of my life I got back. :D
Thanks for the comments and likes guys, I appreciate it. I will continue uploading more videos the more my current ones get popular. So expect to see more Zelda ones coming from me.
I remember clearly when I first got ahold of this game. I couldn't find the last bomber and therefore the last number of the code in time I had to watch the timer tick down in terror while I searched desperately for him. This happened twice. The first time I just stopped looking and stood there watching the timer tick down. The absolute terror when that timer starts up and the final hours music kicks in is unparalleled. It's not the same kind of terror that the Shadow Temple gives you. This is more a terrified foreboding. Which might be even worse. The second time it was the third day and I finally found him running around that stupid bell with twenty seconds to spare. I somehow managed to first get stuck on the stairs, and then I couldn't catch him. So I had the privilege of watching the entire world end again. Though the third time around I got the entire code.

When u think abt it, day 3 music is well thought out. Its faster cuz tensions r high, and it still sounds happy, but theres the little final hour in it, theres the dread of wuts coming. Prob how the NPCs feel. High tensions, trying to b positive but inside they know wuts abt to happen. MM is my favorute zelda game
I played this for the first time on the 3ds and my god, it's probably gonna remain as my most magical gaming experience. It was my perfect game, I love how dark it went, how weird it was and how much it felt timeless. Masterpiece along with OoT
There is a small town. A simple but special town. The first time I played MM I was impressed with this town. It's amazing how that town has many things to do. Deposit/withdraw rupees, play a lot of games, play with a dog, talk with a deku scrub, dance with some dancers, visiting the little pond that there is a frog and Kafei's hideout.. nice sidequest btw. Seeing the changes according the days, visiting and playing at the Milk Bar, play with the bombers, helping the townsfolk to complete the bombers' note.. and a lot more! Ah... I can't explain how special this game is... these are simple things, but yet special..

Day 3 is the scariest. People can no longer ignore the elephant in the room, or in this case the moon's face 100 feet from the clock tower. Then they just let it all go and accept their fate in the final hours....such a dark game.

*Day 1*
The festival is coming up!
*Day 2*
It's raining today, which made everything feel slightly unsettling and ominous.
*Day 3*
You woke up, and what you saw was absolutely unnerving.
*Final Hours*
You sat down by your favorite fountain in the town, and silently told it goodbye.
What are you doing out here alone?"
"Oh... thank you," you said in a quiet voice and ran down into a cellar.
Just before the flames erupted and struck the both of you down, you said in a desperate voice, "I love you!"
As you lost consciousness and the overwhelming heat started fading into heavenly coolness, you could have sworn you heard your crush's voice whisper back to you at the very last second of your lives.
And it said,
"I love you too..."
more, omg this would make a great fanfic

I've never played majoras mask before, so here's a dumb question: does link not end up saving the town?
Just to wake up back at day 1
I listen to this while I'm doing homework, and make it a personal challenge to finish at least one subject's assignment before "the world ends." Sure, it puts me into panic mode, but it makes things exciting! XD

this game is unbelievably depressing for a Nintendo game.
At least, until you finish it. But then, if you do so after this comment, you have to then compare it to a certain plague that happened in 2020, and thus have to deal with, well, THAT mental reference.
Harold Balczac it felt different from ocarina of time
Yeah a little to much
Its nothing out of the ordinary of what Nintendo has and still does.
Harold Balczac
And also Cremia gave her little sister, Romani, Chateau Romani (alcohol), on the final day, accepting fate. She told Romani to go to bed with her that final night.
Shout out to the music director or whoever hade the decision to have a different town theme everyday. The third day fits so well and creates much an atmosphere. This game is genius.
I think it was koji kondo
Imagine remaking Majora's Mask with Breath Of The Wild mechanics and an expanded map... the panic to complete everything would be insane

1.- the Ost in general (only hateno, korok forest and the castle were acceptable)

@@jonathanzamora4201 I personally disagree on the design of link. I found him to be one of the best designed links in the franchise. Final hours: dreadful acceptance

Final Hours: acceptance. They can't hide behind anything anymore. They will die. Those are their Last Moments.
i read that as all the white people are striving to keep it together and i was very confused
The Final Hours sounds like your life is passing in front of your eyes and you are thinking how your life could be if you made some things different, in your family, friends and dreams going away and how would you feel when the moon were killing you in some minutes.

When your trying to have fun but it's 10 minutes before bedtime: 2:37

Day 1: Going to buy Majora's Mask 3D.
Day 2: Seeing people in the video game aisle.
Day 3: Seeing people buy Majora's Mask 3D.
Final Hours: Sold out.
and your life improved because of it
@@link87gaming17Majoras mask 3D was NOT that bad compared to phantom hourglass or spirit tracks.
@@Furretarepikmin Dude this comment is so old 😭. Still though, just because Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass are bad doesn't mean Majora's Mask 3D is good. Bad quality remakes are bad quality remakes, it doesn't matter if some of their other games are also bad
And of COURSE I revisit this sequence during the COVID plague.
You mean COVID, Plauge
Day 1: Beginning of the semester
Day 2: Mid terms
Day 3: Finals
Final Hours: That moment when you see your grades
How can you not get that feeling of completely losing hope, AND the anticipation, staring at that grizzly moon face, waiting for the final battle, feeling ready to kick some mask... when listening to the final hours of the final day...?
Its new years eve going into 2024 and this popped in my head

Day 2: December 23rd
Day 3: Christmas Eve
Final Hours: worried you might not get what you wanted
Even though it's rated E...I never thought of it as a kid's game, even as a kid! OoT is included in that category, along with TP.
TP is rated T isn't it?
justinwing iscool
I meant MM
I agree, DEADHAND. Enough said
E for everyone, not kids.
*****
I know, but most KIDS plat E rated games because they can't play much else. Most adults tend to play M rated games, because they can handle the experience.
Day 1: You live your life care free, nothing could go wrong.
Day 2: You start noticing that death is near but you still carry on.
Day 3: You've noticed that the your time is running out.
Final hours: everyone around you is sitting at the coner of there houses waiting for the end to come it's inevitable.
My favorite is Day 3. It's frantic and foreboding, and the poor guards can only pray as they stand at their posts knowing what will happen
I remember playing this on the Gamecube Zelda collectors edition as a kid, dumb as rocks I could never even get to the fight with Skull Kid to get the ocarina back and loop so I'd just run around the town for 3 days, die and do it all again from day 1.
Imagine coming to listen to this when you've never played the game and you listen to all the clock town themes and think what a cheerful game must buy then you hear final hours and think thiiiiis is creepy ahhhhhhhhh what's happening still love this game though final hours really gets me xD
Best game ever.
Day 1: Haha virus in China, let's meme about it
Day 2: Wow, it's spreading fast in Italy and rest of Europe, but nah' it won't reach us
Day 3: GET ALL THE TOILET PAPER NOW!
Final Hours: Millions of deaths...
pretty much right....*sad*
song of time: MORE DEATH! MORE DEATH!

All Zelda music, especially Ocarina of Time, takes over my whole body and brings back my childhood. I love this music more than anything
Day 1: Southeast Texas in decent temperatures, rumors of snow to come Monday Feb 15
Day 2: Snow confirmed, freezing temperatures expected, people are prepping but nothing too bad. Cars and streets begin freezing over. Car accident reports due to ice
Day 3: Sunday night, snow starts to fall. Turns out it was a bit of a blizzard. Snow gradually builds up, power flickers on and off, temps in homes drop drastically
Final Hours: The morning after. Texas power grid collapsed, pipes bursted and homes collapsed, freezing nights, empty stores. No water, no power, no heat, no internet to watch news or service to call. Bacteria and parasites have infected water that eventually comes
We have survived the frostpunk nightmare!
