Majora's Mask was created at the peak of Nintendo's creativity. I believe the heavily rushed development helped the game developers keep the idea's and story pure; they didn't really have much time to second guess their creativity and a lot of it went into the game unfiltered. I think this is why a lot of the story feels like a fever dream, but in the most artistic and best way possible. It's truly a masterpiece that would have never been allowed under normal game development circumstances!
@@cixlo I definitely agree, but a lot of modern rushing is due to doing things wrong and having to restart. Games like Mass Effect Andromeda were crunched bad due to having to restart after being too ambitious, much like Cyberpunk was. Then you have companies like Activision who skip QA and rush development to pump out as many versions of the same franchise games as they can until people stop buying them. (I.E., Call of duty series, Tony hawk series, Guitar hero series, etc..) Majora's Mask was very unique in the sense they just came off of a massive commercial success and that everything was already in place. They had the team, console, engine, resources and assets all at the ready; The only thing they didn't have immediately available was the games story and world design.
I think what added to it wasn't just the deadline for the game being only a year, it was also the end of the millenium. You had some people who believed it was gonna be the end of the world. 😂
I definitely agree with this, but just to add to it: I think another big factor in Majora's Mask's brilliance is the teaming up of some of Nintendo's most brilliant designers at the time, Aonuma and Koizumi
Nah that's what you think that's what Nerrel said and you repeated his thoughts, Majora was unique because Koizumi was involved and yes in a way the pressure of Aonuma and Koizumi getting this Zelda project to themselves did lend to more stress/ darker elements being present, but make no mistake Majora is a product of Koizumi and is why no Zelda ever went this dark again, after he was put on Mario indefinitely

I got this game when I was 8 on my ds and I was so bad I didn’t know what to do but just roam around clock town. I wish I could go back and just relive my childhood.
When I was a kid, I used to do the same thing! Going to the Observatory just to listen to this song while I do other stuff, those where great years... But you know... I think that what makes those times special, is the fact that we will never go through them again. Sometimes it's hard to accept this, but if we could live through those times very often, we would not have the same feeling about this song, that we have today.
This makes me feel a strange mix of complete serenity and peace, but also impending doom, death is upon all you know and love, the things you wanted to do are forfeit. It matches the tone of the game and, through this strangely beautiful piece, brings out the best of a world-endingly bad situation. All is peace, all is calm. All is dead, all will fall
There was this comment on the original Brawl video that I lost track of even before the channel got taken down that really resonated with me. I'd say that whilst this game is brilliant, you might wanna temper your expectations simply in that it has VERY different vibes to Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. It's far more depressing and overbearing in the dread department, and some find it difficult getting used to the 3 day cycle system straight off the bat! That said, I hope you enjoy it! :D
If you're not already through with Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask is a great Zelda! One of my favorites, just know it can be a bit complicated at times, and a little frustrating what with the three day timer. Regardless, good luck!
One of the reasons why I love Majora’s Mask so much as I remember hearing this as I knew I literally stepped into the right place in Termina of all places. The Astral Observatory is forever a favorite location and I love the music, as the room always reminded me of Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 64
Stepping into the Astral Observatory for the first time was so interesting. I wasn't expecting this theme at all, and it hit me in the feels just right. It just... feels different. Takes you into the moment
I’ve only recently started playing Majora’s mask but I’m enjoying it immensely. Majora’s mask is everything I hoped it would be, a fun new experience that hits all my nostalgia buttons and reminds me of my times playing on the N64 as a child.
Perfect song for what is an obsevitory in that game, it gives you a longing feeling the kind you get when looking into space. Definitely a reflecting kind of song for days where the past finds its way back in your thoughts and you're looking at the memories through a telescope.

this song, and I don't know why, evokes feelings of childhood innocence that I haven't felt in a long time. It makes me almost naturally smile but not because of nostalgia, I wasn't even alive back then. it makes me almost melt into a younger, more pure, innocent form. and to be completely honest, literally makes me feel intangible, free from my mortal form, as a spirit separated and free from the snares of life. and his song is able to make me feel completely relieved, with not a single worry, even if just for the slightest moment of my long, grueling life.
This is the song that I always thought should’ve played throughout the entire town when the world was about to end. There’s a finality to it as well as a tone of both hope and despair at once. Very good piece

This song gives me peace and relaxation when I hear it, but slowly I listen more to the choir, and the darker sounds, and I feel different. I felt at peace without knowing that impending doom was bound to come, and it had creeped up my shoulder to arrive and completely change the meaning and feel of this song. This song is a reminder to me and especially link that the end will come for everyone and theres no stopping it, so enjoy your life while you still have it. I am sorry for the mistakes i made, i am hopeful of the future and what it brings. This masterpiece of a song fills me with hope but with the sombering suspense of the price i must pay. I can enjoy life to the fullest but i will never be able to escape once was. A majestic world like Legend of Zelda and all of its worlds brings me such happiness. To be in a world with all of its own problems, all of its tiny wonders of finding something you have never seen.
i'm playing this for every checkpoint in life. a few years ago, this played in a world during a time when a friend ran away from a server, so i associate this with a change in my life.
It is hard to describe this song without getting really in depth and emotional. It is almost like a metaphor for life itself. It is sad, beautiful, haunting, mysterious, but at the same time calming, spiritual and dream like. It gives me a feeling like no other.
It’s funny... I used to sit and watch the world as it was burning as a kid in majoras mask. Now I’m an adult and the only thing that’s changed is that I don’t have to turn on majoras mask to watch the world burn....
Sometimes when I have a memory or dream, I imagine I make it a crystal or any type of ore, and store it in a box under my bed, then depending on how positive it is that determines its size, shape, and brightness. I have 2 vibrant diamonds in a wood box, with velvety leather on the inside, with a pillow for the diamonds, I'm still waiting for that third diamond.

This makes me think about the universe and how beautiful it is. We are alone in the universe, as far as we know, and this really captures that existential loneliness feeling. We humans have each other in a universe devoid of life. We are in this together. Peace ☮️
If you listen with headphones, this song actually describes a telescope, with the voices on the right symbolizing the observers, the twinkling noises on the left symbolizing the stars, and the piano and harpsichord in between symbolizing the telescope itself. (Just a personal hypothesis)
Sure it feels rushed on the count of the fact that it took a year to make with reused models, but Majora's Mask manages to make a very amazing story despite all that, that and I like dark themes.
@@caioza Not unfinished, but likely lacking the Zelda magic that made the original 3D Zeldas so good. No story, no original bosses, no lore, no cool items, no unique temple aesthetics, and poor game design choices with not being able to climb in the rain and weapons breaking as much as they do.
This song is like the positive version of the Final Hours song. Instead of hopelessness, this song conveys the unending hope of Clock Town, and that even in dire times there can be happiness and wonder.

I felt at peace without knowing that impending doom was bound to come, and it had creeped up my shoulder to arrive and completely change the meaning and feel of this song. This song is a reminder to me and especially link that the end will come for everyone and theres no stopping it, so enjoy your life while you still have it. Make new friends, read a book, play majoras mask, and apologize for all your wrongs, until it's too late.
When i walked into the kids hideout.. i started remembering my childhood memories.. not about me but the people ive met and seen.. when theyre young and alive.. its a strange world.. time itself keeps moving reguardless.. most of them have died, got married or have started a family.. dont know why i am remembering them from the past.. i see it clear as day.. as for the future.. just glimps.. when ive a deja vu moment.. i jumped weeks, months or years such a settled feeling.. is it a warning.. do ive to do something important.. where am i.. sometimes i see things that ive missed.. my horrible fate..
You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?
@@javiercalvo9944 life has its ups and downs.. one minute you live in the moment.. one blink.. its all changed.. nothing the same.. time continues to tick away.. the world continues to evolve.. yes ive lived in the glory of my Destiny and yes ive fallen to my Fate.. i call it Mirror Mode.. watching people lived their lives taking right road left going forward, its all about the choices you make.. we only live once and do the best we can.. theres no reset, pause and a rewind button..
I did all my English homework in quarantine while listening to this. It really helped calm my nerves
This is proof on why games of old are so magical. The music.
Inevitable doom can be so bliss . . .
no matter how bad things get in game, this music is always as peaceful as ever
THIS MUSIC HAS A MIXTURE OF A FEELING THAT SOMETHING IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN AND AT THE SAME TIME TRANSMITS YOU A TREMENDOUS SERENITY
You, my friend, are an unsung hero.
Why?, all I did was reupload a video that I didn't even make
@@alphaleafgaming747 For archiving something that many people enjoy.
It's the little things that matter in life
@@InderSingh-kr2bl I guess your right but I do feel kind of bad for getting so much attention for someone else's work while my own gets none.
calm down pal
i can still hear the chickens just below
i'm playing this for every checkpoint in life.
a few years ago, this played in a world during a time when a friend ran away from a server, so i associate this with a change in my life.
It is hard to describe this song without getting really in depth and emotional. It is almost like a metaphor for life itself. It is sad, beautiful, haunting, mysterious, but at the same time calming, spiritual and dream like. It gives me a feeling like no other.
I can't wait to experience this game for the first time once I finally get an expansion pak
Oh yeah baby, we can dance until tomorrow 🤭
I played this game on the Nintendo 64 emulator when I was a teenager. This is one of my favorite Majoras Mask songs.
"I doubt no one will ever watch this video"
Well, you are correct. 68,000+ at the time of writing
I R SMART! In all seriousness I never thought it would get this many views though.
This gorgeous, colorful location with amazing music that you visit for 2 minutes.
This song is so beautiful, even the URL has "PeANo" in it
Who doesn't look at the sky at night while listening to this music?
"Doubt no one will ever watch this video" is in the description.... lol at 11pm "I should listen to the astral observatory theme." 😂
Thx for this. Now I can finally use my spiritual health song to lighten up my mood.
This just reminds me of everything I lost, but also, calming...
i remember playing this on the ds all the time
It’s funny...
This is beautiful and fascinating. I know the third diamond will be found someday
Whenever I hear an ascending scale in any song I'm back here again.
Welp, i'm going to play this almost 24/7 when i live alone
It's on the Switch now. 👍
I get amnesia the first thing I'm doing is playing this and OoT for the first time again
Having a ballroom dance to this song at a wedding reception would make it feel even more beautiful, magical.
thank you deeply for this, you are sharing love and eternity.
Thanks! But I don't understand why everyone is thanking me like I invented the internet.
It took me many years to find this damn song but it was worth it
This music had me think this place would be more important to the game.
Finally found this song, so happy and sad at the same time
I would hear this in my head if I saw a shooting star.
the restriction was time the pledge was loosing a job.
the NEN resulting from such a conditions is indeed strong enough to conjure a masterpiece like zelda majora's mask ost.(HxH ref)
This. Until Covid19 is over.
Nah this in my funeral when covid kills me
Above all odds, sometimes I just wonder why the world played out the way it has, the good and bads. Sometimes I just wonder
Edit: And why this music is SO good
Who's else is here to listen this music before you go to sleep?
This makes me think about the universe and how beautiful it is. We are alone in the universe, as far as we know, and this really captures that existential loneliness feeling. We humans have each other in a universe devoid of life. We are in this together. Peace ☮️
This music has always reminded me of Christmas for some reason.
this game is so awesome and unique. this song is soothing and calm yet it sounds like a creepy carnival
i love that piano song, It's like listening to it takes me into space, the vast, deep and lonely space
If you listen with headphones, this song actually describes a telescope, with the voices on the right symbolizing the observers, the twinkling noises on the left symbolizing the stars, and the piano and harpsichord in between symbolizing the telescope itself. (Just a personal hypothesis)
It’s weird a rushed game made in a year can be way better then a game that took almost 7 years and still feels unfinished *cough* botw *cough*
Boy am I glad to finally see someone who also dosen't really like breath of the wild that much!
Sure it feels rushed on the count of the fact that it took a year to make with reused models, but Majora's Mask manages to make a very amazing story despite all that, that and I like dark themes.
@@tomboyjessie1352 Me too, it's a perfect example of the phrase "when life gives you lemons you make lemonade".
are you kidding about BOTW feeling unfinished, right?
@@caioza Not unfinished, but likely lacking the Zelda magic that made the original 3D Zeldas so good. No story, no original bosses, no lore, no cool items, no unique temple aesthetics, and poor game design choices with not being able to climb in the rain and weapons breaking as much as they do.
Time to watch the great conjunction with this playing in the background
I’m just sayin. This game was really good but the mask gave me nightmares. Look at those eyes...
the best zelda game without a shadow......
Amo todo el soundtrack de zelda 🥺❤️
I love bass in this song, you need headphones tho to hear it properly
El contexto en el que suena está canción hace que me deprima
One of my Favourite songs in the soundtrack! nice
OMG 2000 ❤️😭
Some of these instruments sound like the ones in Kirby 64.
They're both Nintendo games that debuted on the same system, so there's bound to be some overlap.
Nintendo 64 soundfount can only be so varied, you know.
This and traverse town from kingdom hearts hits different in the soul
I wish I could erase my memory just to play this game like first time
I used to play this game for hours
This song is like the positive version of the Final Hours song. Instead of hopelessness, this song conveys the unending hope of Clock Town, and that even in dire times there can be happiness and wonder.
Is anyone else imagining a mermaid in a deep cave?
Perfection.
