Fun question! I’m mostly a planner. This helps me buy yarn with a purpose. I plan a year of projects at a time, but then I also have a few impulses/ additions to plan as the year goes on. 💕
Happy to be back watching the podcast. Life is crazy!! I just barely organized all my projects and planned what I’m going to be working on and in what order. Ha ha! Otherwise I end up with a bunch of WIPS I forget about and don’t get finished. Ha ha!
Thank you for the prize ladies! I am definitely a planner. I started my Christmas knitting in August. I’ve made 5 sweater ornaments, 4 stocking ornaments, and 2 pairs of socks so far. Among other things. I have 4 more pairs of socks and more ornaments to make. Thanks again!❤
I am a spontaneous knitter. I attend a trunk show or find out about a new yarn or I spot a fun new pattern to knit that sparks my spontaneous new project. This means I don't always get them done before another spontaneous project pops up...
I am mostly spontaneous. My projects are only occasionally planned. Usually just planning who the next blanket I am going to knit will be for. I do always have multiple projects going. I love always having something to knit.
Yes to the question! On some things I am definitely spontaneous- I am looking at you, Amanda, talking me into a family stocking project somewhere around December 19 last year 😅 - and other things are planned and living in my head and I am getting there as I get there. I definitely also take on a bunch of palate cleanser projects when the big ones feel like they’re weighing me down. As to soyeuse, I already have a note in for like 10 skeins of the gorgeous maroon/cranberry color to serve as the main color in a sweater I’m planning to knit likely after the winter holidays.
I am a planner who is definitely open to spontaneity. For example, I create make nine boards and knit many of the items throughout the year, but also test knit and gift knit frequently during the year.
Hi Jen and Amanda, Thanks for another fun and inspiring episode. I mostly am a planner with a bit of spontaneity (shinning object😂) knitter. Happy Knitting!
I love to plan. I plan out the year and then each season. I make lists. I organize my Ravelry queue. And then I very frequently throw out my plans because a pattern grabs my interest and I must start immediately….. so, I’m actually both!
I am a planner, but with the caveat that I can make changes in which yarns will be used. I generally have a garment and socks or other accessories on the needles. When I am ready to start a new garment I pull out all of my garment quantities and my patterns to decide what I am in the mood to knit. Sometimes it is laid out on my living room floor for a couple of days while I change my mind about which yarn for which pattern. I always have a sense of what comes next but I fine tune it to accommodate gift knitting plans.
I’m definitely a planner in the sense that I’m trying to use from my stash so I need to check patterns that fit my stash and not always go with what grabs my attention at new patterns.
I am sort of a 60% spontaneous knitting and 40% planned knitting projects person. And yes of course I change my mind constantly on whatever I've planned on knitting unless it is a super desired project!
Laughing with both of you I have gained months to my life, at my age I need all the laughs I can get ❤ I’m a planner! Amanda tell 🌈Teddy, Kathleen can’t find out that he doesn’t like orange 😄
I love the idea of being a planner but fail in the execution as I get distracted! The logo for Rhinebeck was deigned by a fellow podcaster…Leanne from Cocktail Hour at the Coop! She also designed the 2019 logo, which was amazingly cute!!!
I am more spontaneous. Ideas and projects will float around for awhile. Then something will spark an idea and off I go on a new project! It is not very efficient I know. Great podcast as usual.
I guess I’m a planner, but I must be spontaneous too as I just bought the lady fingers sweater pattern and will use the yarn I bought at Flock. Living on the west coast I can’t attend your classes 🙁. You always share good ideas. I’m not sure how you get so much knitting done given how busy you all are. Thank you for the podcast.
I send to be spontaneous. I signed up for the Ladyfingers class last minute and bought yarn few days before class. This is not the first time I did this.
I try hard to be a planner but I’m often pulled in other directions and start to get spread too thin. But it’s all fun as long as I don’t have deadlines.
I have to plan my knitting projects or else my yarn hoard would just grow and grow, and I’d never finish anything. I’m busy planning what projects to concentrate on to plan my Rhinebeck purchases.
Definitely a planner. I won’t buy yarn until I have decided the exact pattern to use, so I don’t have a stash .Stopped in the store today to buy Noro Madara for a Puro Cardigan. Store associates were very helpful.
I am a planner, but leave a little space for being spontaneous. I have planned some Fall knitting (socks, a hat), but if I see a new yarn at my LYS, may purchase and cast on something new.
I consider myself a spontaneous planner. I plan for two months and that is about it. I am very much a mood knitter like I am a mood reader so I need to be into my project to keep going. If I am more than two months out I know I will want to change it to something else. I also buy yarn with projects in mind, but I will easily change that if the pattern isn't up to my liking anymore more and find someone else that will fit the yarn when I decide to work with it.
im making a temp blanket, knitting one row for each day at 9am in the place where i live, its hugh now and quite a slog but im determined to complete it. im dreading the weaving in of all the ends but , only 2 ish months left to go...
Always enjoy your podcast. Love that N. Hornby Malin, is it difficult? I'm a advancing beginner. would love to know your thoughts on how it knits up. I like to plan my knits, because if I leave a WIP, I forget where I was and ultimately make mistakes. I knit until finished now...learned my lesson with the few projects I've made.
The Malin is a lovely pattern and well written, but requires a lot of juggling to keep armhole and neck increases in sync, for example. I would recommend it for intermediate knitters. Knitting goals! 🧡🧡🧡 ~K🧶
I am a spontaneous planner. I have an idea of what type of project I want but just pick the pattern based on the pictures on Ravelry. If I don’t like the picture, there is no way you can talk me into knitting it. (Love Note or Ranunculus)
I'm mostly a planner, but every few months I spontaneously cast on something. This month it was little pumpkins🎃

Great information about the shape of raglans. That answered my concern about how they hang. I’m a planner all the way.
@Jen... I have discovered the fun of knitting backwards or mirror knitting... faster than purling but still a bit slower than knitting.
Another great episode ladies😊Love your T-shirt Jen! I’m mostly a planner with a little bit of spontaneity thrown in😉

I have certain patterns that I want to do but I would say I'm spontaneous in that I cast on what I'm feeling like doing in the moment!

Adore the Tee Shirt! Nice colors, lol That is beautiful lace Card!!
Thank you so much!
I am a planner! Spreadsheets galore! 😊

Jen does a sweater class 3-4 times a year via Zoom - we have people from all over the US (and as far away as Australia!) as participants!

Your sweater is coming along beautifully! ~K🧶
I always decide to plan, but then I get distracted by great yarn or a pattern that I buy and then often end up doing something spontaneous.
I try hard to be a planner but I’m often pulled in other directions and start to get spread too thin. But it’s all fun as long as I don’t have deadlines.
I’m spontaneous//planner. But constantly knitting.
I have to plan my knitting projects or else my yarn hoard would just grow and grow, and I’d never finish anything. I’m busy planning what projects to concentrate on to plan my Rhinebeck purchases.

Yay! So glad to hear that! 🧡🧡🧡
Spontaneous. But then I spend time planning it. What does that make me? Lol!
Love that!

I'm a flexible planner! 😉 which means I reserve the right to spontaneously change my mind!!! 🤣
Team flexible planner! ~K🧶
