Thanks so much for posting. 😊 I can see why this lasted only 1 series. It was made about 20 years too late. I think people had moved on from these type of programs. Good to see it though. Simple sweet times
I think she was more of an actress, than a comedian. She could really immerse herself into the character. I like this show for nostalgia reasons and I admire their subtle acting qualities, but unfortunately, the show lacked a leading role, like a David Jason or Rowan Atkinson, someone they could bounce off.
@@Aerojet01 um it already had a lead, Caroline Ahearne, it just needed a better script but her and Craig wrote it themselves the same as they did the Royle family and that was hilarious, the trouble with this is it seems to be based on one single gag, that she's still treating her 37 year old son like he's 9. And thats not really enough to carry a half hour comedy.
I had a neighbour who had this kind of relationship with her son. She was overbearing and smothering and as a result he never emotionally matured. I always felt quite sorry for him.
Some comedies are head and shoulders above the rest and this was one of them, dark humour maybe but real. As for “ more rabbit than Sainsburys “ 23:20 ... hilarious 😂..She was a comedy genius afraid of nothing bold as brass.
I remember watching this when it was first shown with a Dutch couple. They just stared at it in disbelief and looked at me like I was insane for laughing at it.

I got the dvd years ago when network put it out. I watched once on the bbc in 1999 then never again till i bought it. I have fond memories of it but ended up watching the DVD only once too. How many people buy dvds through rose tinted glasses then barely watch them. Apart from them gypos who try to get everything for free and don't even own a dvd player.
I watched this when it aired, and I didn't laugh once. I only laughed when my brother made fun of it. The execution is just poorly communicated, and having no laughter track makes it look worse.
The problem with this sitcom is that it is painfully tedious. The script and styling is like wading through glue. It never flows properly, and by the time you get 10 minutes into it, it feels like it has already been a half hour.
@@judedonnelly4100 Remember when people were allowed to have an opinion, or comment on someone else's opinion that they agreed with... and didn't get yelled at? I'm sort of wondering why the person I'm agreeing with also didn't get all-capsed like they're a naughty school child. Anyway, I probably couldn't do better, and I don't think you would like to see me try. I'm sure it would be tedious and unfunny too. That doesn't preclude me from having the opinion that I don't find this funny. Unless of course, because we don't agree, I'm not allowed that opinion.
This was a show that never made it to Australia so it's good to be able to watch it now.
Or NZ so good to see what we missed it on
Love all Caroline and Craig tv shows sad loss when she died very talented lady
I’ve only just seen this programme - tremendous, I have the same dinning chairs Mrs Merton has in her front room. 😊
"That's not a swastika - that's your dad's cross" -- LOL
Always makes me laugh that bit lol 😂😂
Caroline hit the jackpot with the Royle Family.
So glad to have discovered this. Love it!
Delightfully Bonkers. Brian Murphy was so underrated 👍👍
Still alive and making the occasional appearance at celebrity get togethers.
Thanks so much for posting. 😊

I have come upon this serendipitously. Thank you 🙏

She was a genius who knew humour like nobody.
This was fucking awful, though.
@@Revelian1982I enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for uploading this series , I loved it! ☺️
Utter brilliance!!
Caroline Aherne. The female Peter Sellars. Comic genius.
Thank you for posting these. There was criticism at the time. But it's no darker than 'Inside No. 9' 😅
Quite. It seemed to centre on Malcolm who is no worse than Frank Spencer or Mr. Bean...
Yes. It was possibly a little claustrophobic for some. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall with the three writers!
@@LovecraftComedy Like that comparison (or comparisons rather), especially the Mr Bean one.
I know I watched this, but don't remember it at all, so thanks very much, it's so cosy.
I don't no eh 😂😂😂 absolutely brilliant filmed in just one room comic genius
Superb,I love this.
Tremendous!

Okay he must have had special needs. My mother was overbearing and emotionally smothering and I still managed to leave home and get my life in order 😅
@@philbecker4676 Congratulations on having the mental strength to overcome and move on.
even worse when she passes away he will be done for, and as dead as a 80 year old widowed husband would be and whither away
How's he doing now?
This is back on You Tube!! Eeee... I don't know... eh? :D
a cross between Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter.
Totally mundane. Bleakly depressing. Utterly hilarious. Caroline was a genius
It is fun to watch but it is very disturbing somehow.
That's the point.
I just find it hard to watch. I can’t watch any more.
I wonder if Malcolm did spend his £5 postal order on pop and crisps
Of course he did
I'm getting "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" meets "Harold and Maude" vibes.
Just hoping I don't have to scrub myself down with a wire brush after this...
It's only like pike and his mum in Dad's army.
Awww miss my mum rip
...... she knew nobody was coming
No shit sherlock .
"it's nearly twenty past nine, you're not Peter Stringfellow" 🤣🤣🤣
It’s weird how Malcom and Dave ended up morphing into the same person.
I think that’s more to do with Craig’s limited acting ability.

"More rabbit than Sainsbury's" is taken from a Chas and Dave song. It's not an original line.
Brian Murphy's character reminds me of his character Mr Foskett on one foot in the grave
Come on now they are totally different.
She treats him like a child but buys him a jumper that an 85 year old would wear.
You Mate are a Hero.
I remember watching this when it was first shown with a Dutch couple. They just stared at it in disbelief and looked at me like I was insane for laughing at it.
How did they manage to do this without laughing🤭🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant. I've finally found S1 E1 😅

Loved Caroline Aherne, but this was way too creepy for me.
It's supposed to be creepy.🙄
Love it when Arthur trys too sing to Mr Merton he is sooo out of tune its so funny 😮😮😮
The wonderful Brian Murphy, my late Father to a t.
Steve Coogan doing the voice of the Radio DJ
She was actually quite manipulative!
Too bad they couldn't get Pink Floyd's song "Mother" as the theme song. 😂
Hahahahaahahahhaha

It’s a damp squib of a sitcom. Total misfire!
Did you not get any of the subtle nuances they made me laugh out loud
