We reserved a golf cart and drive down to the beach town. It was fast, safe and fun. Red Shirt Golf carts behind the port shops but also online for pre booking
This is one of my favorite ports! So much to do right there! Hit the aviaries as soon as you get there. Hang out in the big pool during the day. Hit the smaller pool on the way back to the ship. Watch the dolphins for free. Great food options. No reason to leave or take an excursion. 😉🏖🏝🛳
PS. I only sail in the off season. I've never seen so many people there as there is in your video. Wow. I'll stick to off season when there's like 4 people in the pool. 😂
I remember when Costa Maya would have one ship in the Port back in the day, plan an excursion, or know how many ships will be in the Port when planning your visit, the last few times I’ve been there it’s been totally overcrowded too many mega ships they are ruining all the ports with too many people go far away to a beach, take a ship excursion guarantee to get you back, and the ship will not leave you
@@DetourswithJeff- I only say that because even the top video people say it wrong, like tony from lavida and eecc. I'm from Okie-la-homa, so yeah. But know some spanish. Good cruise vids though, thanks, coonass. (I was stationed in Gulfport with a guy from Homer.)
If you have never done it then yes once but the prices are different every time we have been. Normally the cruise has the prices listed. It’s worth doing once but I doubt we ever do it again. I did it way back in early 2000s.
I enjoyed that port, but we also went out in the jungle to the Mayan ruins and hung out with the spider monkeys The dolphins seemed very sad when we were there in March
I do a lot of dolphins excursions on my cruises. This one may be fun, but the water is disgustingly dirty. Don’t get in it just sit and watch people doing the dolphins instead instead save your money.
What is your Favorite thing to Do in Costa Maya??
Maya Chan! I’ll be there on the Breakaway in December!!!
Stay in the port for the pool and eat breakfast and lunch in the ship.

Great info! Thanks. I know there were many
How to reserve a golf cart? I am taking my parents there next week. My mom can't walk long distances so I am thinking of reserving a golf cart.
Thanks for the video. I was wondering was was in Costa Maya. Headed there in November.
Have fun!
Same! We go with Royal Nov 3. Trying to determine if we need an excursion from the cruise line or not
Thanks for the video. We will be there Jan 2024
Hope you love it!!!!
Me too!!!!
Same me and my husband also lol
3:27 She missed the opportunity to try the king of tacos "Tacos al Pastor" the most exotic tacos😀

Smart move. This was spring break!! We never even got in the pool ! Lol. We need to stick to off season too
@@DetourswithJeff Give the port another chance, off season. It's completely different. Relaxing and enjoyable.
Thanks this will be great for my mom 😁
Awesome!
We swam with the Dolphins when we were there on RCL in April.
I heard they like it when you poke the blow hole!!!! Lol!!! I swam with them 20 years ago.
That's probably the most expensive activity for what I've seen. Goin this year in September. I can't wait!
Guy i really recommend for you to do local tour like Bacalar Lagoon . I recommend you to try Chac ek cost maya they are a great and amazing company
Of course you recommend yourself! I recommend my videos! Lol.
You're a great guy love watching your videos 👌🏻

Great tips we live by. Plus we are trying to sail more smaller ships and find new destinations
It’s the celebration of the gods. I saw a performance in playa del Carmen
Thank you how it it? I looking for that 😎❤️
Costa is like Bob Costa. Or like, "What's the cost-of a 6 pack?" Cost-a Maya.
lol. I have no clue. I’m Cajun. Lol

Thoughts on the dolphin encounter at the aviary? Pricing? Worth it? thanks!! Going in March 2025.

Thank you for the great video. How long will be ok to stay in the port? 2hours may be ok to walk around?
I stay as long as I can!!!
Kelly, u nerd. 😅😂

That sounds like a great Excursion! Never seen Spider Monkeys yet!
@@DetourswithJeff They were cool .. and all over the place at the Mayan Ruins... it was like a 45 minute bus ride each way to get to them
Hi, are there any rent/complimentary lockers at the port? Thanks
A lot of place have them but I can’t say I have ever used one, so to be honest I’m not sure
Are you allowed to go back on the ship and get off again during port times
If you need to I don’t think there is a problem with that. I’ve don’t it once or twice
Fastest response I’ve had..Thank you!!!
@kmcbride2988 I’m
Here to help.
is there any where to go for a couples massage here at this port ?
I can not be 100 % but I’m almost sure that we saw a couple in the shop area

We have each swam with dolphins and while it’s fun once I won’t spend the money on it again
Poor dolphins
