Yo, you're in frigid conditions and crispy bacon is always the best! A little crunch never hurts, that's your thing, own it bro! Big fan, keep trucking on this channel! Love the sledding!
I’ve been falling asleep to these videos the last couple nights. They’re so relaxing. You sir are amazing and you deserve way more subscribers than what you have.
As contrary as it sounds, too many layers of clothing surrounding you inside a bag can restrict blood flow and chill you. Learned that the hard way in the service! Great vid! Especially the sliding!
I’m currently living in Singapore which is a 365 days summer country and I get vicarious satisfaction watching your winter camping videos. I miss Canada and its winter so much!🥰
I've discovered your channel recently, and honestly watching your videos brings me so much peace. I don't know what it is but watching these videos helps me stay grounded. Thank you
I've seen this a few times, it's just a favorite. The sledding, the utensil lesson, getting comfy in the snow with a cup of coffee, (better than any lazy boy- I swear!) and the beautiful vision of campfire flames shooting up into a sky of rotating stars. Great, GREAT! video Budnick! Lord! I wish I wasn't old and crippled up, so I could do trips like that again. I have to make do with car camping anymore, so thanks for these videos. At least I can watch, and remember!
Iv been binging all your videos! You remind me of Mathew Posa in your humor and talking. It’s so nice! The winter vids are my fav. We just don’t get all that beautiful snow here in Alabama. I wish we did. I love how you show your bedding and setting it up. Other channels completely skip over how they will sleep and it’s the coziest part! 🙂 you got a new follower! Can’t wait to binge more!
0:39 that's such a smart detail! I didn't even think about the problem you would have with the sled beeing faster than yourself on the way down. Love these videos for such inclusions!
I envy your mindset my guy, I really wish I could do something like this, it just looks so zen and innocent. Everything that society nowadays isn't. Amazing videos and content man, huge props.
WOW that shot of the stars at 7:37 is amazing! I admire how hard you work in the videos, and I can't imagine how much extra time you spend setting up the shots and editing everything, keep it up!
I'm watching this now in June in Wyoming. The thermometer says it's just 85 degrees F, but I'm melting. Thanks for sharing your cold night. Average your -13 and my +85 it's 36 degrees. Perfect.
Hey Xander! Ive been watching your videos due to my growing love for bushcraft and sleeping outside with every element against you and such. But one thing ive learned that I really want you to test for yourself. Sleepingbags are alot more technical than you would originally imagine. They reflect heat that you produce, back to your body. Think of a survival blanket (space foil). So what ive learned is that the more layers you put on your body, the harder it is/longer it takes to heat up the air inside the sleeping bag. Ive tried this for myself and ive slept outside with - 36°C and I slept like a baby with only 2 layers of sleeping bags and my trousers🤷♂️ Hope you see this comment and try for yourself😁
Thanks my man. Glad you're enjoying them. I'm definitely going to take a bunch more timelapse's in the future. I had set up another one to film overnight but I didn't have my camera set on continuous so it only snapped one photo :p lesson learned
when you are tucked away all warm and cozy with just the firelight you should tell us bedtime stories of the woods' ghost stories.....and tales of the deep dark woods at night and what happens at night...
I heard that the hot water bottle was nice to keep until it reaches your body temperature. Then, we should take this bottle off the sleeping bag because your body try to maintain the water temperature as high as your body and drains energy from you. I never tryed, so cannot say more... I just began in winter camping and I never exceeded -15 Celcius... your the expert! Thanks for sharing these kind of experience! Sebastien from Quebec
I see what you're saying. I kinda thought the same thing but I was quite surprised that the water bottle felt warm to the touch in the morning so it didn't seem like it reached my body temperature, it was warm water in the morning which was surprising. I'll see next time how it goes but it's definitely something I'll be using in the future.
@@XanderBudnick Well it's nice to know! I must tell you I really enjoy your footage and the story of your trips. It seems to be easy on the screen, but in reality, winter camping is so much more difficult as well as you do without any tent and using only a tarp! You get all my respect! Thanks again and have fun! Sebastien
@@VoilierFuligule Thanks Sebastian, it's nice to be appreciated! I really enjoy the journey, the filming and the sharing of the experience. I find each one of my trips is getting easier and I'm able to push myself harder and further. My first solo trip this year was definitely the most difficult for sure! Thanks again!
@@XanderBudnick Hi Xander, for sure experience makes easier the next trips. But even with all of it, you take the time to film and think about the footage quality. I know what it is. It's not easy to document any trip and espacially in cold conditions (batteries health, camera positioning, ...). You do great video editing and get great images from the nature. I love it and you success very well. I just want to let you know that I understand all the trouble it is to film while living your trip. I'm sure you see what I meen. Otherwise, I get a MEC Centaurus -9 with Thermoclim Reactor from Sea To Summit and I tested -14 last weekend in a tent. A small tip for you buddy! Im in the Norwegian military atm, in North norway we got -30 celsius at nights while in the field, so a advice when sleeping in a bag at night is to not wear too much clothes. Because your body cant release hot energy from your body temperateur when the clothes Are blocking it. I sleep with wool bottoms and top only, and in extreme cold conditions were you Are waking up extremely cold, run a couple of laps around your camp to warm up and then go back to sleep;) hope it helps!
