The connection is pretty dumb though cause these same phrases could apply to everyone in the show.
The reason Mahito said that Yuji is him because just like Mahito doesn't think twice before killing humans, Yuji didn't think twice before killing curses. But Yuji until this fight was just being a hypocrite.But now he finally accepted it. That's what the scene of wolf and rabbits symbolises. It's just a natural process for a hunter to kill it's prey.
That’s one of the reasons that makes this series unique, tbh. Both sides are just fighting for what they believe in.
Just like how gojo cares for his students, jogo cared for his allies. Just like how Jujutsu Sorcerers are fighting to maintain the status quo, the curses are fighting to create their ideal world.
Yuji, well up to this point, has had it in his mind that since he’s been killing curses it’s fine. And i do agree with that logic in a sense. But to say he’s not a killer would be in fact hypocritical.
Huh, I thought Mahito line "You are me" is referring to Yuji (Sukuna in Yuji body) killing innocent people without reason, much like Mahito killing innocent people too without reason too. So at the end, Yuji accept that he is like Mahito that he is a murderer and now that he accept it, he will kill Mahito as naturally as it is for Mahito to murder human.

I'm pretty sure Mahito mentioned in an earlier episode when he first said the phrase that it was a parallel between how just as Mahito indiscriminately kills, Itadori indiscriminately saves people. Its that Itadori's ideals are in a way warped when placed into their current context. It goes so much deeper than a simple badass phrase or line that fans exaggerate.
@@Zaxster_-3-honestly the "we aren't so different" trope is pretty dumb in this anime. Like the whole killing curses and humans things can apply to almost every character in the show its a shallow similarity.
Just wanted to say that Mahito is still a child by this point being born not too long ago which is why his character acts scared in the face of death.

In reality, yuji is fighting a child. And I always gotta see Mahito as such. He’s a kid who’s been givin immense power and potential and he can use It however he wants. However, he’s seeing his actions have consequences. And Yuji is one who can inflict It upon him.

Thank you mahito for being the catalyst of giving our boy resolve and the recent final arc in the manga sukuna will be the one giving yuji a reason and purpose for being a jujutsu sorcerer
For literally everyone who was confused by the said "time lag" of Yuji's punch, his cursed technique (or at least, the way he manipulates cursed energy) is that his flow of cursed energy when imbued within his attacks creates a double impact. It's explained in an earlier episode but not mentioned too often, plus this anime requires a good memory and a somewhat decent IQ level to grasp the technicality of each fight. Thanks for the mashup reaction as always!
I don't think it's his technique exactly. The Divergent Fist effect happened because he was very weak at controlling his energy, causing the delayed effect on his punches. Now that he's more adept at jujutsu sorcery, it doesn't really happen anymore. Looks like he brought it back on purpose against Mahito though.
It isn't his cursed technique it's because his cursed energy moves slower so it's like a lag in a video game causing a double impact

It's not his technique, it's a move born from Yujis inexperience with energy and causing it to lag behind his punch.
It doesn't randomly turn off or on during battles, Yuji stopped using it because it normally weakens the impact of his attacks. But when he saw Mahito changing his transfiguration mid collision, he switched up his cursed energy usage and got him via that.
His actual technique is something else and comes way later.

Also, Todo was always the outlier of this fight, never being able to do anything except distract and help Yuji set up for Mahito's destruction, so of course Mahito develops against it and Todo adapts by risking his life even more to stay in the fight for as long as possible, props to both fronts tbh
