The way Peter left the suit in the trash can is a direct copy of the way he left his suit in the comic. The shot is perfect to the comic book page 😍

this version of peter was bitten by a genetically modified spider, which completely changed his DNA. his powers are affected by his stressed levels. it's like in real life, if a person is mentally or physically trained or stressed it can affect their body.

"I believe there's a hero in all of us... that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows to die with pride" this line can connect with the final battle in Endgame, Asgardians, Ravagers, Wakandans, Master of Mystic arts fighters, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel and one of hundreds of Spiderman all proved that

One thing to keep in mind. It's not about Spiderman. It's about Peter Parker. It always has been. Stan Lee had a philosophy to creating his characters. It was called "heroes with problems". In other words he wanted multi-dimensional characters. Whether it was a hero or a villain, he intentionally wanted to show all aspects of their lives whether they were in costume or not.

Fun Fact: While shooting the fusion collider gone wrong scene, they had a take with Willem Dafoe playing Doc Ock when hes trying to stabilize the collider. Alfred Molina (Doc Ock) was not aware, and when he saw, he laughed his ass off. It was all one big joke to get a laugh on set, Dafoe didn't replace Molina lol

Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina are tied for the top slot when it comes to movie interpretations of comic book villains. Their portrayals of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, respectively are so well done and written.
Also, the receptionist who told Peter that he was late with the delivery is actress Emily Deschanel, who's best known for her role as Dr. Temperance Brennan from the TV series *Bones* and Ted Raimi (Hoffman) is best known as Joxer from *Xena: Warrior Princess*

1:05:28 Fun fact the man to the right of MJ who turns towards the camera for a brief moment is thestunt double of Thomas Jane who played Frank Castle, The Punisher in the 2004 film. For DVD of Spider-Man 2 confirms that this is Frank Castle but because of contract issues they couldn't get Thomas Jane for a cameo so they got his stunt double who is extremally close to Jane in appearance.
The Punisher himself first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 (1974) as a character who was hunting Spider-Man, miss communication, Punisher thought Spider-Man became a crook. He later got his own comic run, Easy to forget that he first appeared in a Spider-Man comic.

Comic book movies in the late 90's and very early 2000's were still feeling their way around in what tone they wanted to represent. More than anything, Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 are products of the director, Sam Raimi. Raimi is known for his horror and horror-comedy films and in Spider-Man 2 the movie goes "full Raimi" with many quick close-ups, people screaming, and a horrific scene of the doctors and nurses getting mutilated by the mechanical arms.
That being said, this movie is incredibly goofy and fun which was a stark contrast to the only other big comic book movies at the time, which was the X-Men movies. Even though the X-Men films become progressively more and more campy, the very first scene of the X-Men movie franchise is a concentration camp.

Some Easter eggs that never got realized in later Maguire Spidey films - In the comics Pete’s college teacher Doctor Conners ( he has one arm) becomes the villain The Lizard and MJ’s fiancé and son of newspaper man J.Jonah Jameson - Astronaut John Jameson later becomes a character called The Man Wolf after wearing a mystical moon rock he found while walking on the moon.

What was neat about this film was the character drops - though her character in the comics was different, Peter’s landlord’s daughter had the same name as the villain Black Cat which eventually became a love interest for Spider-Man and Jonah’s son would eventually become the villain Man-Wolf - wether or not they were planted for future movies it never went any where but still neat : ) lol the early days of easter eggs : D

Sam Raimi's frenetic, chaotic cinematography is perfect for this material.
Spidey's sense only alerts him of impending danger, so it doesn't do anything when MJ comes up behind him.
In the comics, Peter is afflicted with "the Parker Luck", where he never can catch a break despite his constant efforts. Often due to being Spider-Man, but sometimes just his own insecurity.

This is the comment I was looking for. There are definitely funny moments in the film, but many times they were laughing at serious scenes that had nothing to make them "funny by accident" (i.e. bad CGI, cliche lines, bad acting). Although I think Garfield was a better Spider-Man, McGuire was a better Parker, and it was shown in this film and they didn't seemed to grasp his characterization.

45:34 I despise, DESPISE, how they made Aunt May a cheerleader in the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Aunt May is a character that is supposed to a pillar of strength that Peter could lean on to whenever he is depressed or unsure of himself. That what Rosemarie Harris in the Raimi trilogy and Sally Field in the Andrew Garfield movies brought to the table. I dont even blame Marisa Tomei, because she is a brilliant actress and when they actually gave her genuine Aunt May material in No Way Home, you felt her presence more than in the previous 2 Tom Holland movies combined.

Growing up I read every(and still own) spider-man comic and appearance along with thousands of other Marvel Comics. I stopped in 2002. What made Marvel standout was most of the villains don't think of themselves as bad. They have a misplaced justification for their actions. This made them more three dimensional rather than cookie cutter bad guys.

In my opinion, Spiderman 2 is the best Tobey Maguire Spiderman movie for sure.... it's just such a great movie.
Watching it again wiith you guys, I kinda realize how much heart this movie has and I feel like MCU movies have lost a lot of that heart. I know this movie was kinda extra in parts of it, but it definitely kept the heart.... hopefully MCU movies in future will come back to more heart.
For other movies you're gonna watch, you can watch the two Andrew Garfield movies in their normal order.
For X-Men, start with 2000's first X-Men movie, then X2 Xmen United, then Xmen 3 for first trilogy, then First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse and Dark Peoenix. For Wolverine, do X-Men Origins Wolverine, "The Wolverine" then Logan (Logan is absolutely the best one), then maybe do Deadpool (2 movies). With the Wolverine movies and Deadppol, there's no special order for them or anything. But if you watch them in that order I said, they make more sense and you understand some past references.
But yeh this Spiderman movie is one of the absolute greats in my opinion.
Also my opinion is the third one is too confusing and I also enjoyed the two Andrew Garfield movies even though they are considered bad by a few people. I still liked them.
Are you guys continuing on with the MCU journey too? Are you doing any Marvel TV shows like Wandavision and Loki? I hope so - there's some great shows (and bad ones) in Phase Four. Hope you keep going there.
Anyway, good fun. Still plenty more fun superhero content to come your way. :)

Our guy was so hard on Harry and I didn't understand why til I realized he forgot the major story point that A. Harry didn't know he father was the Green Goblin and B.Harry thought Spider man killed his dad bc peter shows up with his dad's dead body and doesn't explain anything, well that action by Peter caused all of this...some ppl say but Peter didn't have a chance bc Harry pulled a gun on him, uh one guy with a pistol is no threat to Spider-Man, Peter could have easily disarmed Harry and at least made up a story while not revealing that Norman was the Green Goblin to Harry.

Spider man is stronger than even many fans know, at one point he lifted 110.000 pounds(about 50 ton) and he always holds back his punches a lot while fighting because he doesn't want to kill his opponents
"Go get'em tiger" is a very iconic MJ quote, she often called him "Tiger", and when he asked her why she calls him that she said "I call u tiger because u are not", like the "nice guy" wasn't her type and she was not expecting to fall in love with that kind of guy so she says it kind of sarcastically but with love

When you see Spider-man 3 keep in mind the producer forced Raimi to add a villain very late in the production that fans were clamoring for. The result was an overstuffed disjointed movie. Had that not happened it probably would have been more cohesive. Raimi did what he could to Frankenstein it together.

      @animatorFan74 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That does explain a lot about it then. Yeh that would have been so much better with one less villain.
Considering what happened, he still did a great job then.

Yo, I have this and the first one on vhs(yes still have, they're put up in tubs in my closet). Yep, that was Stan Lee. The landlord's daughter really liked Pete and was dropping hints left and right, but my man was too oblivious to notice. He could have had free rent if he got with her, she was kinda cute too. 46:43 That scene almost caused Toby to have to leave the role due it causing an injury to his back, thankfully it wasn't that serious.

I didn't realize how funny this spider man was, your guys commentary made it that much better lol, As far as him having bad days, Comic books and superheroes always focus on their gifts as well as the sacrifice, I guess its suppose to be like a balance thing.

Well, you still have the 3rd one to go with Toby ;) Andy Garfield's Awesome Spider-Man movies were not that popular, maybe because it was a reboot, again with origin story and that. Although it has a twist about his parents and love interest. But, after a while they grew on me and i really like them. Definitely a good reaction material :) And Emma Stone is great in it (as in everything) :)

Andrew Garfield ones are actually not too bad they were very underappreciated a lot of people got upset about it because obviously Tobey Maguire was no longer in it and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man was building his webs which in reality if you want to be a nerd about it that's how it actually is he had to build a web shooter whereas Tobey Maguire was straight up shooting webs out of I guess his wrist hole 😅 but then later on people started to appreciate the Garfield ones s bit more

And also perhaps because they felt they had to redo the whole origin story again with the spider bite and Uncle Ben. Kind of a waste of time to tell the part of the story everyone already knew.

Yay thanks for doing the next Toby McGuire Spider-Man! These came out when I was like 14 or something and I was all about it. I hope you react to the 3rd one. There was supposed to be a 4th as well but sadly never happened.
I just want to defend MJ in this because she gets some flack. She was from a rough upbringing and it is pretty in character for her to go from guy to guy, often choosing the wrong guys because she didn’t get a good example from home.
I also appreciate the wisdom and character growth, and life lessons in these older superhero movies.
