Nope, the Hornburg (that's the actual name of the forteress, Helm's Deep is the name of the valley it's in) was built by the numenoreans, and later, given to the rohirrim. The Hornburg had a big horn, and during the war against the Dunlendings, caused by somebody trying to force Helm to marry his daughter to him, during the siege of the Hornburg, each time the horn rang, Helm would make a sortie and totally wreck a good part of the dunlending's army (thus the symbolism of ringing it before going out against the orcs in LOTR) Helm Hammerhand died in the siege of the Hornburg by the Dunlendings, and the valley was then called "Helm's deep", and the horn took his name. If you want a glimpse as to why he was so utterly awesome, he was called "Hammerhand" because his favorite weapon was... well, none. He got around by punching people to death.
there should be like a few hundred year between each king, remember sauron is not even mortal, he is some kind of spirit and he dont give out ring to normal man it have to be great leader and king .
Chris MacCool the first ring was given to the King was about 5000 years before the battle of Barad-dur which is the last mission of shadow of war to give you a timespan of how much this game disregarded the timeline, still dope game tho
"If you kill me, you'll start a war." says the dude who shot the one King that looks like he might actually be Thor son of Odin and kidnapped his daughter.

Knight 77, except Jackson had Sauron lose his body against isildur, and in books and movies like the orcs weren't sitting in mordor they were assaulting gondor in shadow of mordor gondor never knows war, heck they have minas ithil which isn't a thing in the movies and ostgilith is fine when it's a Siege down ruin, also never saw the eye glow blue in the movie also makes no sense why gladriel wouldn't bring it up in the movie saying as how celebrimbor made the rings, also no mention of the new ring which never actually does anything.
Knight 77 Sauron is not the eye. The eye is basically an all seeing entity of Sauron, controlled by him. His physical body is still inside the tower of barad-dur, he's just diminished. Celebrimbor died in eregion anyway.
No Filler Gaming Knight it is not meant to be canon to the movies, it is just set in a very similar looking adaptation of the world. These games also contradicts the Hobbit movies. 0:56 Sauron only ever humbled himself before Ar-Pharazôn. No one else. He had the means of appearing fair to anyone he wished before the Downfall of Númenor, and thus deceive them and corrupt them as he did in Númenor, but he opted never to do that, unless it be with foes that he couldn't conquer by fear or strength of war.
Boss Pepe i dont know much about "licensed" but it isnt canon. So they had to come up with a story that is compatible with canon, and doesnt change much. According to this, nazgul is a title, and if a nazgul dies there are always strong and proud men to replace them. Which doesnt change that much to be honest.
They could do a whole trilogy on just the Nazgul and their history. They should do another trilogy of Saurons backstory and where he disappeared to for thousands of years, morgoth story and others. There’s too much lol so amazing
The idea of isildur as one of the nine is an interresting thing, but there are two reasons why that couldnt happen. First it is said when isildur cut the ring of saurons finger there where allready nine ringwraiths. Second: In the Sillmarillion it is written that at the time Gollum took the ring into the misty mountains(so 2500 years from the death of isildur), Sauron found out where he died and let his orcs search the river Anduin, which prevented Saruman from searching the ring himself. So again a interresting idea, but they should at least read the novel before making these games. Nothing against the gameplay, grafics and music, but the story of these games insult every fan of the books. No need to answer.
Though, in technicality, couldn't one consider this canon to the movies? They are separated from the books canon anyway, especially after Hobbit and so far, I don't think there are inconsistencies between the movies and games are there?
Ralph Lawrence this game totally destroyed helm hammerhand, he doesn’t become a nazgul and doesn’t kill everyone in a rage, he challenges that dude to a duel and kills him with a single punch (hammerhand, get it), the guy was a badass
No offense but ive always thought of islidur as a jack ass and think of all the non-canon nazgul in the game he deserved it most for his hubris. So i had no problem dominating him
Most of you are mad that the timelines don't fit for them to be ring wraiths since the 9 existed before Sauron's death. Well in this game nazgul-Isildur dies and Talon takes his ring and place. So they don't have to be the original nine. Perhaps every time Sauron loses a Ringwraith he puts that Nazgul's ring to someone else thus having 9
Can't be more blasphemous to Tolkien's world and story than the way this game has portrayed his characters. Great art and work done but in the end such a sad fate to see Tolkien's characters used in ways that are completely incorrect to the story.
Unkip i agree. They put the LOTR licence on it only to earn more money. They dont care about the lore. "Oh nianiania they ever told it was respectfull about the lore" so why bought a lotr licence ?

Brad Willis the nine were corrupted before Sauron conquered MiddleEarth in the second age. After the war of the second age that ended with Isildur defeating Sauron all of Sauron's power was bound with the One Ring. It doesn't make sense that he would need the One Ring if he could bind anyone by them having a ring of power alone.

People hate this because none of it makes any sense. Sauron was so crippled after the loss of the One that it took him over one thousand years to rebuild enough of his strength to appear in Dol Guldur, and yet somehow Isildur is one of the Nine. Suladan manages to humble Sauron, but that would have been impossible as it robs Ar-Pharazon of his own glory (and, y'know, the fact that he was the only one who managed to humble Sauron, an act that was legendary for the doom it visited upon Numenor), and Helm Hammerhand died in 2759...almost 800 years AFTER the Nazgul invaded Minas Ithil and captured it. Wait let me just say idk if I saw it correctly but the first memory where the first dude got the ring why does it look like it was the dude from lord of the rings
juiuffophiguo the first one is named Ar-Pharazôn, he was a king of Numenor that invaded Saurons lands. Long story short he took Sauron as an advisor instead of destroying him after he defeated his armies. Second is Helm Hamerhand, king of Rohan during one of their wars against Dunland, he was killed during the dunlennings sige of Helms deep. Last one is Isilidur the first king of King of Gondor. It should be added that no one of these characters is ring wraiths in the official lore. The only ring wraith Tolkien him self named is Khamûl the Easterling, a former king of Rhûn
Isn't this game just a "what if" type of scenario? From what little I know on canon, most of this stuff is just what if, as in "this place fell", or "this guy did this", or "this canon part failed and ended up leading to this", sorta thing. Can't that just be the premise for the game and not have everyone whining about canon/not canon?
+Lorenzo Petskalorenzo the developers never said if the game was meant to be Canon or not. All they have ever said is that "it could easily tie into the movies." So yeah I think it is Canon to the movies. It fits in well.
Knight 77 that makes sense. It's like a fanfiction, or an alternate reality to what could have happened to the lore, such as this one guy becoming a nazgul that everyone is upset about
+Lorenzo Petskalorenzo I personally consider it Canon. Especially because of the game's ending. It really isn't so controversial as people make it out to be.
Knight 77 I really like the ending of Talion looking so happy in the fields at the end, being able to remove his armor and swords, finally move on. All I know about wraiths is that they exist on the living world to exact revenge on that which killed them, and the way they implemented Talion and Celebrimbor and all that they did seems great, so that ending is what I find tied down the story, and gave an impact of the game to the player. His duty is finally done, Sauron is *their* problem now
As someone who read the books I find only a small few of these back stories half decent. Eh, game is more like a Far Cry Assassin's Creed then a Lord of the Rings game.
The most tragic fall was talions
Can we talk about how Helm Hammerhand's daughter willingly got close to the man who almost killed her father?
If you kill me you'll start a war. Dude you already started the war when you shot him full of arrows.
Not really, cause the arrow assassination was done discreetly. The second fight was too open.
El Bandito while true if the guy died, he lived so it was definitely a declaration of war
mr. turtle
In a sense, war began the moment he was shot full of arrows and got back up from it. His argument is invalid.
David Amari
Lets be honest, he was pulling shit out of his ass to not fight helm, even helm himself said war had already started.
Pharazon? Helm? Isildur? This is madness!

Ya know Helms Deep? He made that shit in a war against the wild man that wanted his daughter. Hes the most bad ass king of Rohan.
Yago Albert righttt, did he also made the horn?
javier jaafar Im not sure. The nature of the horn is directly linked to the Rohirrim. Idk if Helm have anything to do with them
Nope, the Hornburg (that's the actual name of the forteress, Helm's Deep is the name of the valley it's in) was built by the numenoreans, and later, given to the rohirrim.

Arthur Morgan so this was exaggerated like the recent Robin Hood movie was that Jamie Fox was in?

The backstory of some of the nine nazgul is one of the few things about these games that make me sad they aren’t canon
It appears that ar-pharazon, king of Numenor, became one of the nine as well by this game.
In the game that nazgul is called Suladan.

Andrew nope. The witch king is included in the 9
John Thorson This game is an insult to Tolkien’s legacy.

Whos the bandits voice from? (it is strangeley familiar)
The one who wants his daughter
Ruben den Dulk gaara
I am 100% convinced that the people who made this game don't know the first thing about Lord of the Rings.
Game might be lore breaking, but I didn't buy it for the lore. I bought it because beheading uruks is fun as hell.
idk why but sauron looks like an elvish version griffith from the berserk anime
Wait let me just say idk if I saw it correctly but the first memory where the first dude got the ring why does it look like it was the dude from lord of the rings
That's not all stories of the nine
and what the hell happen to that guy wearing the ring then got it slipped ou of his finger ? i mean how can a ring just, you know, slipped out
oh..thanks
Join the nine? Then they would be like.... the TEN, helloooooooooooooo
Wade he would have been dead so talion would be the tenth.
was just kiddin
The supposed Ringwraith are not possible^^
So who are all these guys? Giving us their names would be nice
juiuffophiguo the first one is named Ar-Pharazôn, he was a king of Numenor that invaded Saurons lands.
They names are the same - Shit the child of a bad game director
Kind of difficult for Ar-Pharazon to be one of the Nine, considering he was at ground zero when Eru reshaped the world.
... SO aragorn is the descendant of a Nazgul?
No
0:51 😈 🔥
1:37 😈🔥
The First one is Khamul
the 1st one is Al-Pharazon ;)
is this in the campaign or is it a side mission thing
+Marsha Hynes it's in the main campaign
thanks
Is the king ar-pharazon king of numenor
Greatest insult to both helm and Rohan ever
6:20 watch lotr fotr extended and you will see what actually happenned there. how isildur dies. the stupid people who made this game never watched it.
Good game but this isn’t canon right ?
Isn't this game just a "what if" type of scenario? From what little I know on canon, most of this stuff is just what if, as in "this place fell", or "this guy did this", or "this canon part failed and ended up leading to this", sorta thing. Can't that just be the premise for the game and not have everyone whining about canon/not canon?
+Lorenzo Petskalorenzo the developers never said if the game was meant to be Canon or not. All they have ever said is that "it could easily tie into the movies." So yeah I think it is Canon to the movies. It fits in well.
+Lorenzo Petskalorenzo so yeah it's never specifically said but from what I gather it is meant to be a tie in to the movies
His duty is finally done, Sauron is *their* problem now
only 3?
As someone who read the books I find only a small few of these back stories half decent. Eh, game is more like a Far Cry Assassin's Creed then a Lord of the Rings game.
Of course Orochimaru is a perfect choice to play Sauron. lol
Telling the story of the nazgul is cool, tho is totally unaccurate with the lore
