Norm always pretended to not be smart. He told Larry King once, why he acted that way. It was very profound. He told Larry, that nobody likes people, who are smarter than them. When you think about it, that is for the most part, dead on accurate. In real life, Norm was a genius. Not just in comedy, he was an actual academic genius. While most all of us graduate high school at age 18, Norm graduated at 14. He was a very talented mathematician, and loved Russian literature. Both of his parents were school teachers. IMO, he was one of the funniest human beings, to ever walk this planet. You'll only find a couple comedians today, who have the potential of one day being almost as funny as Norm. I think the number one guy on that list, would have to be Theo Von. They are both very different comics, but they have a few key things in common. The main one being, that like Norm, Theo pretends to be dumb, and definately isnt, by any means. They are both funny in different, more unconventional ways, than anyone else.

I think Norms pronunciation of iron just the Canadian way to pronounce iron.

To be honest I am with Norm on how Iron is pronounced. I have always pronounced the metal Iron as "Iron". However, I do pronounce Iron as "Iron" when in terms of the steam Iron to remove wrinkles from clothes. So if it is a metal used in a sentence, I always pronounce it like Norm and say "Iron". But when ironing a shirt, I would pronounce it as "Iron". I don't see anything wrong with that. My family doesn't agree with me on that but that is the way I've always pronounced it. I always known them to be pronounced differently.
