  • Join me in Bristol, the only city in the USA whose downtown is split exactly down the middle between two states. Bristol TN and Bristol VA are considered "twin cities" which occur when two urban centers are built so close together that they grow into each other over time.
    But twins don't always mean "double the pleasure". Discover the good, the bad, and the beautiful of Bristol TN / VA in this week's video.

      I’ve always lived in Bristol TN. It is weird that we share two states. The Bristol Motor Speedway at Christmas time has an ice skating rink set up and Christmas lights all around the race track it’s called speedway and lights. Then in the center where the nascars race is santas village. I also enjoy race time when I get to go to the race the traffic is crazy though. Usually schools are out of race day. Many people across the US come to our race track I guess it’s one of the best ones.

    There is something very similar in Canada: The town of Lloydminister sits on both sides of the Alberta/Saskatchewan border. (look it up on Google Maps).

    • @highway2heaven91
      @highway2heaven91 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Except Lloydminster is actually one city with one governing body in two provinces. None of the twin border cities in the US share this feature.

    Good place to live if you are grown up, yes you have the mountains, rivers, and lakes which are great but for kids in this area (I for one who was raised here) there is just not that much to do. They need a place they can hang out with out it costing money or even if it is a place that cost money at lest make it a fun active place for them, yea they have the movies, but that's about it for kids under 18.

      Coming home every few years for the past 18 years it’s pretty obvious that it’s still live in Bristol and go to JC for any fun. Even Kingsport has grown... but poor Bristol, not much.

      @@noahbauserman1768 I'm guessing a lot of the people who live in Bristol probably have to commute to other cities in order to find work? I passed through this area a few years ago very briefly and I thought it seemed like a nice little place, but I got the impression there probably was not a whole lot of work to be found there other than the usual municipal type jobs every city or town has (although I could very well be wrong).

      Do it Sunday mornings when traffic is lighter due to church... State St is pretty busy all the way down so doing it in downtown (where most is this was shot, where he films) is the best bet... otherwise you’ll catch some of our super polite Southern flak for blocking a crosswalk.

    • @seanpeters3690
      @seanpeters3690 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Elijah31011 thanks for the information, that's good to know. I really like how church makes a difference in traffic, because not enough people go to church where I'm from (my church is usually only about 1/3 full on a busy day). I'm thinking of a road trip I can plan that takes me through here. :)
