I feel like this pack was made just for me! For years I’ve played as a Duros X-Wing pilot in Battlefront. The little story I made up is that he’s a nerf herder who joined the Rebellion when the Empire commandeered his farm 😂 I’m definitely gonna head swap Cal in officer disguise with the male pilot. The Duros will pilot my A-Wing and Cal will pilot my E-Wing when it arrives. Cool review!
100% agreed with your take at the end. I vastly prefer named characters in these packs as long as it's ALL FOUR as named characters. Clones are Stormtroopers and the like should all be generic. Great review and I'm glad to see at least the helmets fit on their heads this time.
I was really expecting OT pilots too based on the Hoth pipeline photo. But regardless, I think they'll fit in well if someone wants to do one of the new E-wings with multiple pilots prepping or briefing. I bought one set not sure I really need 2. I want my ANH pilots all carded on a Star Wars card, like Red 5, Gold Leader, Tyree, Hutch, Biggs, Porkins, all of Red and Gold squadron. Might see what kind of other figures I can fit the green Bariss pilot head on. She'd make a good addition to the Nevarro Cantina as a random patron, with some other body, civilian body. Then I might have a reason to pick up a second set. I'm always doing head swaps adding to my Hoth troopers also.
The set in itself looks nice, I'll say that much. My issue is that if i wanted random no name pilots I could make them myself with a simple head swap. But what I can't make my self is actual characters from any of the movies and there are several still desperately needed from across the saga. So I wished it had been a set that gave us pilots we needed. Second issue is I feel Luke is too small of a stature to use for the two males, or pretty much most Pilots in general. So it would have been nice if they had at least tooled new lower or upper legs for them to be taller. But this set was about offering something on the cheap as a way to drum up cash for them, so minimal new was expected that being heads. Hopefully the net time they release an OT era X-Wing Pilot, such as Wedge, they tool up ne lower legs thus updating him with rocker ankles. Then maybe the next time they can update the hips to modern barbel, kind of a one piece at a time like with the Stormtrooper. However, when it comes to potentially updating Biggs or Gold Leader they really do need a thicker frame pilot body type because Luke's will not work for taller bulkier characters. Especially Carson Teva which we need like yesterday!
Great review Tim it's a nice set with the exception that they are on Luke's body and unfortunately Hasbro is skimping on the weapons lately compared to when we got the stormtrooper 4 pack they could have put a couple of blaster rifles as well considering the price can't wait until mine comes in thank you for all you do do for the community can't wait for the next review
While I'm always happy to have more rebel pilots, I can't help but be disappointed with the overall generic feel of this 4 pack. It's a shame the female characters are just using the same body as the male and it seems the new norm on TVC stuff these days is no paint apps on the weapons/accessories. That said, I love the Duros pilot in this set (pretty sure he's using the same hands as the Cad Bane figure). I hope in the future we'll see some more variety of pilots (A-wings, B-wings, etc.). Great review, as always!
I order pretty much everything so I ordered this one too but I wasn’t expecting too much from it. However, in hand I really do like them. We really need a Teva, Dave filoni and the other two directors that show up after the mayfield and zero episode of mando.
Good pack, mine arrived today as well. Had the same thought about the blasters, not a deal breaker but made me wish they’d go that extra step for quality control. I’d like them to add in a couple of extra heads that you can swap out and use for other figures as well. That would tempt me to buy more than one pack.
If they were just going to use the Luke X-Wing body (e.g. an old body sculpt) then why not use the old female X-Wing pilot body they released years ago?
@@nightdriver in my humble opinion swivel hips + female body >> ball-joint hips + male body for Female New Republic Pilots. It's not like the X-Wing Luke body has the barbell hips. (not that you could actually do anything with them if the figure actually had them due to the flight suit straps that result in a limited range of posing the figure anyway)

They're all theoretically generic characters, but I could see turning the Duro into Shriv from Battlefront II, or the human female into Jess Pava with a spare Resistance-era helmet.
Going to be very interesting to see what they do with Lt Callahan, because if that is a smaller body and more petite, Hasbro would of really dropped the ball with the females in this set. Also, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee mentioned that he thinks the humans are from the show - the male pilot being Lt Landers (Brendan Wayne) and the female is Lt Jensu (Chau Naumova) ho jumps into the ocean and pulls Ahsoka onto the platform FWIW.
9:30 Looks to me like the two helmets without the circle of stars around the Phoenix are Rebel Alliance insignias. “The seal adopted by the New Republic Provisional Council as the Insignia of the New Republic was based upon the symbol of the Alliance that preceded it (✂️) It was set within a circle of stars that represented the galactic community.” -WookieP.
$55.00 for four new figures is not too bad considering individual figures are almost $17 each. $55 ÷ 4 = $13.75 per figure. The four packs are a better deal when kept well below $68.00
if i can i'll pickup these on clearance, i mostly want the green female head, i don't mind a few extra x-wing pilots i'll play swappy with brown eyes(mando) and andor's heads to make a few more imperial officers with the rest, i do really wish Hasbro would do extra heads more often, those X-wing pilots could've had a few extra heads and made the pack worth buying a few of even at retail. I do agree Hasbro just don't get it.. a 4pack of lesser known characters if they're all the same character would work, but like wise.. exchangable heads also help!

It’s really poor they didn’t color the code cylinders in the left sleeve. I own a full x-wing custom costume and you put three silver code cylinders in the left upper arm pocket….. 😮
Nice review, but confused by your comment regarding the helmet being designed for Rey. There was never a Rey figure in TVC (or the 3.75" TBS line) that came with the X-wing helmet. Also, the 'ridge' you refer to is an actual design element of the rebel pilot helmets in ANH. They all had that ridge, so not sure what you mean when you say the ridge was made specifically for Rey.

Aren't they the Cad Bane hands on the Duros? Also I think it's a strange choice to make them New Republic as it's pretty new in Star Wars lore and so far they are made out to be a completely stupid uncool faction like the Resistance other than some of the characters. The Rebel Alliance are cooler, more familiar and fans have more of a love, nostalgia and attachment to them! They have much more lore and world building.
This set would be nice at $30-35. At $55 it’s an easy pass for me. If it was 4 pilots from the battle of Yavin or some other specific battle then I might feel different. But, this is 4 nobody’s from somewhere I don’t recognize and they all have the same body, the same deco, the same helmet with different heads. Meh x4. Not to mention that they use old articulation at the hips and no ankle rockers. Now if I was creating a Yavin hangar scene or a Yavin victory celebration scene or even a Home One briefing or hangar scene these would be nice fodder to fill out that kind of diorama…..at the right price, which this is not…. At least not for me.

the luke x-wing body sculpt is much newer and has more modern articulation.

The more Duros the better for world building. They're a peer early space faring species in cannon & legends to humans (especially to Corellians).
