    I was so happy when you said you'd look into hygral fatigue when I asked about it. Before hearing this term, I truly thought I was doing the best thing for my fine hair by allowing it to air dry (although my hair seemed to become dryer over the two years I allowed it to air dry after shampooing). I will definitely be looking for the ingredient amodimethicone in my next shampoo - thanks for that info. Occasionally, I use dry shampoo, although now I'm concerned about the high levels of benzene found in many brands recently recalled. What are your thoughts on that? Also, I wear a shower cap to protect my hair from exposure to water when showering on days I'm not also shampooing. I've yet to find a good shower cap that keeps the hair around my face dry. Any brands you'd suggest?

    Can you please cite your sources? I'm in the middle of a deep dive on this topic. It's amazing how much misinformation there is on this topic. Kudos. While I definitely think you could improve how you do your videos (especially in regards to citing sources) this was the most unbiased video I have found so far. I have an academic background so academic sourcing is an absolute necessity when it comes to forming my opinion. PS. I noticed my GF only uses sulfate free shampoo because of coloring loss. So I'm especially curious whether or not that aspect is a myth.

      Hi Timothy, I do usually cite my sources but somehow my editor forgot to add the ones I gave him for this video. Thanks for alerting me to the fact that the sources were dropped from this caption! I just added all of the studies I mentioned in the video. Hope that helps

    Interesting. I use head and shoulders on my eczema ridden oil slick scalp as it’s the only thing that really works. It cleans the oil out and calms the eczema. I tried soooooo many shampoos over the years. I’m as surprised as you are about that result. I can even get 4-5 days between washes if I’m lucky. Also I’ve noticed a correlation between the amount of oil I consume and how oily my skin and hair are. My body is literally dumping out excess oil it doesn’t want onto my face and scalp. When I went oil free for a while, no more oil slick!

      Thanks for sharing! Everyone’s scalp and skin is so different and the pyrithione zinc in the head and shoulders sounds like it’s working for you!

    Hi 😊 Thanks for this video. It’s so informative! ❤ I have a question for you please. 🙏 I recently had a half head balayage done. I have purple shampoo & conditioner and use them once a week. I have oily scalp. My hair has always been thick, coarse and dry. For my regular cleaning, what kind of shampoo should I
    focus on? Should I use shampoo for thick/dry/damaged hair or coloured hair? 😊

    Thank you so much for your research, this has helped clear up some things. I have hard eater and was told not to ise sulfates because they can react negatively to the excessive minerals in the water. Do you know if that is true? I jave oily scalp with dandruff that os fine and thinning. My mids and ends feel dry and brittle regardless what shampoo I use. After this video Im thinking my hard water by itself and air drying might be a bigger issue than the products I use. May I ask what type of shampoo and conditioner you use. Your hair looks amazing!

      Hi Shenea, thanks for watching! Hard water can affect hair, especially color treated hair, making it more dry and brittle from the minerals that crystallize in your hair as it dries. We usually recommend using a clarifying shampoo for hard water; other options are to look into a water filter if it is really affecting your hair texture and health! I rotate through a few different shampoos and conditions; lately I've been rotating through the Oribe gold line, the Olaplex bond repair line, and the Kirkland brand hydration line. Hope that helps!

    I just bleached for the first time. I use Nexxus color assure shampoo (for colour). it's sulfate free. It has protein fusion. Is it safe and good for my hair bleached color.

      @TeawithMD  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, it’s likely safe, and especially because Nexxus is a large brand they likely have done studies and proper color testing

    Thank you for helpful information! But what if I have an oily scalp and fine hair (you suggested sulfate) but I also brittle hair (you suggested for sulfate free)?

    • @TeawithMD
      @TeawithMD  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! You can use a sulfate shampoo occasionally for that deep cleanse and then use sulfate free most of the time to help with the brittleness! You can use both in your routine
