    I think I have read on this subject for a long time, and I know for a fact that wearing glasses extensively does not give your eyes a chance to improve your vision naturally. This applies to everything we do. If you are the type of person that drives everywhere, and never walks, walking a half a mile to the corner store and back may seem like an impossible task, because your dependency on your vehicle makes you lazy and unable to function without it. I was prescribed glasses at at age 10 and I refused to wear them. I am glad I did, as my vision improved over time. Do the research, there is plenty of study material on this subject, once you introduce an artificial gadget or instrument to the body, the natural instinct for the body to perform at high performance in order to get maximum out put is reduced significantly. This applies to everything, from using the stairs as compared to using an elevator and many other every day body functions.

      hey need some advice, what you’ve said is really quite interesting! i’ve just been prescribed glasses today (after having finally visited the optometrist after 7 years!! i’m 16 now). the last time i wore glasses was when i was 9 and i went to check my eyesight after having troubles with reading the board at school. i’ve got myopia (0.75 on right eye and 0.25 on left eye) and since i haven’t been wearing glasses for a long time and the way my prescription works, the optometrist recommend me to wear my glasses all the time! i was wondering whether to follow this advice as on one hand i don’t want to make my eyes completely dependant on the specs as i feel that my vision w/o isn’t bad, just sometimes really small text from a distance is hard to focus and decipher, but on the other hand will not wearing my glasses all the time as advised to worsen my vision? i’m a student so inevitably my screen time is extremely high (7-9 hours/day). thank you in advance and i hope you’re doing well!

      @@RohitVerma-iw4qj yes, otherwise you will get a lot more "hyperopic defocus" which would make your eyes grow longer faster. If you have more myopia you might need a weaker pair if you cannot see comfortably to the computer screen (you shouldn't be closer than like 70cm). If you feel like you need to be closer because things are too small on the screen, just increase the scaling (assuming Windows) to like 125% or even 150%.
      The eyes adapt to the stimulus you give them and is gradual. There are more things you can do but would probably be too overwhelming right now.
      I wish someone could've told me 26 years ago when I got my first pair: "do not use your full correction glasses up close!" and "you only have a muscle spasm inside the eye called the ciliary, get outside more and look into the distance to relax it and you shouldn't need glasses! Glasses change the way light hits your retina. Hyperopic defocus occurs when we use minus lenses for close up. This is a compensatory process that elongates the eyeball thus creating worsening eyesight. This is why our eyes get worse when we go for eye exams/check ups.

    • @tango9944
      @tango9944 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      for people who is nearsighted, looking things close by is clear, image is at the retina, without minus glasses. in that case, wearing minus glasses seems to put the image behind the retina (hyperoptic defocus), would that trigger the eye to elongate further. Hope some OD can explain this is not the case. so far no OD can provide a good explanation.

      Yeah eventually you could become nearsighted in a long time. But right now, just stick to what you’re doing. Once you get to emmetropia and then you start to become a little myopic, just lay off on the phone use to balance it out
      Also, if you ever have to do something far away with distance vision, just wear weaker glasses so that you can still train your eyes to get used to having a waker plus lens on and become less farsighted. So if you can see your phone clearly at 50cm with +4, then just hold it at 49cm, then 48, etc until it gets clear way closer and reduce again. But in the meantime, you’ll only need maybe a +2.5 for distance, and then just wear that for distance so you can keep your gains and maybe still make it better.

      @@davedarius7346yeah obviously that’s why you do reduced lens not no lens. Like even just a -0.25 reduction for norms (distance sports goggles/glasses) is enough. For closeup differentials, just reduce enough where your screen is slightly blurry and you’re able to clear it up
      For low myopes or maybe kind of mid depending on screen distance, you only need them for distance and nothing for closeup. For very low myopes, you shouldn’t be wearing them much at all even for distance.
      And also minus lenses work by putting the light further back in the eye and you get hyperopic defocus and lens induced myopia. If you only wear them for distance and get ones that wre a little weaker to give eoom for improvement, and rhen hold uour ohone past your blur horizon in way weaker (high myopia) or no glasses for closeup, or just do less closeup, then you’ll be fine and actually improve your vision especially if you try seeing further on purpose.
      Also, if you have a ciliary spasm/pseudomyopia, that goes away faster.
