Hi Good to see your video. I had my scleral buckling surgery 10 days ago, and the operated eye is still looking smaller than the other, just wondering if you can share some experience how long does it take for the eye to return to normal size please?
I have a queation around the Scleral buckle. It's a silicone band wrapped around the middle of the eyeball around the scleral. The band is meant to apply pressure so the gas bubble pushes against it and holds the retina in place. My queastion is: Will the band squeeze to a maximum limit? Or over the years will the band narrow the eye even more year over year? If that's the case, you will need more preacriptions over the years. Can the band over time damage the eye? Or does thr band get taken out?
Thank you for sharing your journey I just went through this procedure two weeks ago and I am so nervous and scared. I’m constantly looking at my vision and I’m always crying and scared as to what’s going to happen and if I will get my vision back. Glad you're feeling better and thanks for sharing your story!!! My doctor has been monitoring my eyes in case of any holes or tears/detachments. May I ask, when you saw the floaters, was it alot in your vision? Did you see so many to the point it was impeding on your vision? I've been seeing my retina specialist every year and I told him I have floaters but they've been there on the left and i can't tell it has changed. like Normal floaters but it's not all over the place. Were you also seeing the flashes of light for quite some time?
This is just such a humbling experience. I had scleral buckling last year . I was 28. Such a scary experience. I didn't have any floaters or flashes but yes i always noticed that my vision in right eye was not as sharp as my left eye and thought it's normal as anyway I am in -7,-8 so yeah vision is fuzzy. I had gone to get myself checked for refractive surgery options n that's how I gotta know. Even now I'm always a bit anxious about what lies ahead and on some days im like so positive. I'm trying to get over the anxiety. You are such a strong girl. How have your eyes been after all these years of surgery?
Thanks for sharing your story. I am still anxious, very careful and always wondering if anything else will happen to my eyes. My eyes are fine now, -7 on both eyes after surgery. It’s now early April and I’m phasing in my return to work - thankfully the visual acuity can be corrected by a new lens - but the visual distortion of the hall of mirrors is present and I’m not certain if my brain can adjust to it - could take a year. @hellokngo, I had the same procedure about a month ago in my right eye. For you, did you feel any difference when you move your eyes suddenly, does your eye feel pressured at times? I am having my 4th detached retina surgery since May on Tuesday 9/3. I have had a buckle. Scar tissue seems to be what is causing the detachments. I have decided this is my last surgery. I can’t keep doing this.
Glad to know you have recovered. Have you always been short sighted and what was your -ve number?. 3 months after cataract surgery I am getting a lot of large floaters in both eyes. I am diagnosed PVD that puts me on the risk of RD.
So what flashes looked like. For me I am seeing shooting white dots 24 X7 from past 4 months. Have consulted over 4 vitreo-retinal doctors and 5 times. They say that it is fine or I am thinking too much! Though I am still in panic.
Same here, I also facing same thing in both of my eyes. I was also thinking too much after retinal tear, which happened about 8 months ago. I think it's brain problem rather than eyes. I also met neurologist and he found nothing after having MRI, EEG scan. If something worked for you, let me know.
pvd is common, usually the posteriour pulls the retina causing the flashes. I have been like that for three years not knowing if tomorow is the day to rush to the eye clinic for the same reason this lady explained... It is hard to predict if the retina is going to peel even if there are a lot of flashes for long period of time. High myopic people are usually at risk for such conditions. She said she does not know what caused her detachments but from what I see her glasses are at least -6 even -8 and that is high myopic.
I wanted to ask you i had retinal detachment on both eyes scleral buckling surgery went well my vision is not damage but i have some problems my image sometimes blurs then It becomes sharper it creates a feeling of discomfort sometimes it decreases sometimes it increases but it is difficult for me to live with that i am so interested how you deal with that problem and if there is a way to solve it
Hello. I suffered a macula-off retinal detachment in my left eye about 5 weeks ago. I initially had a retinopexy, but then the doctor performed a full vitrectomy on me about 3 weeks ago. My concern is that my bad left eye now sees everything smaller (micropsia). Did you experience this phenomenon? Also, was your detachment macula-off? In addition, how long did it take for your vision to return to normal after the surgery and/or how close did it return to your original vision? I appreciate any insight you can give me and I also appreciate you sharing your experience.
I have micropesia. My surgery for a detached retina was 20 days ago, I also had the silicon oil (or silicon based oil, I can never remember). If someone views a four foot tall object with their good eye, my repaired eye sees it as two feet tall. My vision is still distorted. It makes it difficult to see a pickleball coming so I swing and miss a lot lol. That's not going to keep me from playing.

I am so appreciated with my ophthalmologist, she did a thorough exam, found a small hole at back of my left eye…..
Thx for sharing ur story. U r very brave. God bless u.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It makes me feel less alone. I had scleral buckle in one eye last month and I learned last week that my other retina started detaching as well so I have to get surgery next week. How did you find out about your second detachment? I had no symptoms whatsoever so I am "lucky" it got detected before my retina specialist was going to space out appointments. Also which part of your retina was detaching? Both of my detachments started at the bottom of the retina.
I had retina detachments, both eyes around 18 yrs old. Take care ! It was complicated . Now im 52 . You need to beware of other eye diseases later . Hope that helps🙏
Thanks for the warning. What eye diseases specifically?
@hellokngo those common eyes diseases .

Hi Good to see your video. I had my scleral buckling surgery 10 days ago, and the operated eye is still looking smaller than the other, just wondering if you can share some experience how long does it take for the eye to return to normal size please?
Any update on your eye?
After your retina surgery did you have a film over your eyes with millions of black spots and how long did it go before absorbing into the body?
Thank you so much for your video
My surgery is Monday...scared to be honest
How did it go? My surgery is Friday.. terrified
Please ask your doctor
I just got diagnosed yesterday and have surgery scheduled on Monday. I am so terrified.
Wishing you a smooth recovery
Great news little lady.Very happy for you.❤😊
Thank you for sharing your journey I just went through this procedure two weeks ago and I am so nervous and scared. I’m constantly looking at my vision and I’m always crying and scared as to what’s going to happen and if I will get my vision back. They also put a gas bubble in my eye to hold the retina in place I’m not sure if they did that for you but it makes my vision very blurry. I also had to be in a face down position for seven days. last week when I went to the doctor the retina is attached I am so thankful for that I have another follow up appointment next week.
Thanks for sharing as well! Hope it gets better. I was so nervous as well but I followed doctors orders and I think it helped me in the long term

I had vitrectomy now i am on the recovery period
It's so brave of you to record your experience ❤️❤️ is there any restrictions do you follow?
Hii..in this video u had told that u had floaters also ...can u please make video on that like how it looks how u manage..please

They were -3 before surgery. I still have flashes and floaters, but my doctors say that's normal. I don't have restrictions really. I guess I'm just more careful, no more karate/MMA, roller coasters etc. No one told me to stop but Im just being careful
@@kaythecpa absolutely. Roller coaster is something even i have refrained from. I'm glad you were on top of monitoring your initial symptoms and got it checked from another doctor. And well i guess this is something that doesn't really depend on somebody's prescription as your prescription was mild. It's just about someone's body constitution that they tend to develop retinal tears. I'm glad you have perfect vision with glasses. And i absolutely loved your frame. ❤️
I totally get it how anxious this feeling is. I'm getting married in dec and i keep praying that my eye needs to behave itself 🙈 hehe.

Along with the scleral buckle, did they use a gas bubble or silicone oil with the buckle, or just the buckle alone?
Just the buckle

Thanks so much for the video. I just had scleral buckle done in my left eye. It’s 6 days after surgery and I can’t see clearly with my left eye. It’s blurry and a little cloudy. The images also don’t “align” when I try to see with both my eyes. Did the mis-alignment happen in your case? How long did it take for the swelling to subside and for each of your eyes to see clearly?
@@vikuchoudhary5316, it's been 2 months. My eye is still a bit smaller in size, probably due to the internal swelling. There's still some redness too. My vision is fine but it seems my shortsightedness has worsened. Doctor told me to wait for the myopia to stabilise before changing my glasses.

I’m a doctor who’s diagnosed retinal detachment in primary care. 2 months ago had sudden floaters and flashing lights. Went to opticians- dilated - told it was PVD. The black curtain symptoms were so insidious that 2 weeks later I went to the A&E where I examined eyes 20 yrs ago. Confirmed retinal detachment. Surgery done under LA.
2 months on. Still a residual shadow and I get a flashing ring in contrasting light. Tough to drive and there’s always a worry in my mind that it’s gonna tear as it’s not 100% 2 months on.
I need a slit lamp and another me to check the eye
Thanks for sharing. That sounds intense
That’s not good dude. Has to be the most frustrating surgery to have done.
@@paulwoodford1984 oh, there’s more - attended the A+E in Nov and Dec 2022 - told it was healing - but in late January, shadowing worsened and then the vis distortion - macula off - so i had another vitrectomy and cryo and laser retinopexy with face down for a week. It’s now early April and I’m phasing in my return to work - thankfully the visual acuity can be corrected by a new lens - but the visual distortion of the hall of mirrors is present and I’m not certain if my brain can adjust to it - could take a year. While the cataract slowly forms - I’m sure there is another detachment coming my way - so thats two detachments in three months - but no oil bubble and no scleral buckle
Best roll with these punches
Should have not waited for 2 weeks
Can i ask how you think the retinal detachments happen. It might help people avoid future detachments
As stated in my video, I don't know what caused it and I won't speculate because I'm not a doctor
Good job dear
@hellokngo, I had the same procedure about a month ago in my right eye. For you, did you feel any difference when you move your eyes suddenly, does your eye feel pressured at times? Maybe in my case, it is still healing. I had an appointment with my retina dr last week. He says that the gas bubble is at 30%. Did you see little bubbles breaking apart from the big one? My vision is still blurry.
Now, 5 years post-surgery, I do not feel pressure and I do not see bubbles, in my vision. I see floaters now even after surgery
Did you end up needing cataracts surgery in either of your eyes? I had a retina detachment surgery in July (same story, had it detached for a while before figuring it out, childhood dr never told me I was at risk for detachment) [were you a preme? That's part of why it was more likely to happen to me] so now I'm waiting for cataracts surgery (happens 50% of the time after retina detachment surgery)
Thanks for sharing, that's something I didn't know about. No, I didn't have to get cataracts surgery. I'm hoping you a speedy recovery after your surgery
What was your prescription before and what it is now?

Thanks for watching. Once I got a new glasses prescription it was fine, but it took a year and half or so for the prescription to stabilize. I'd go in once my vision was noticeably blurry, maybe every 6 months. I went into my local JINS store and gave them my Rx. They made glasses within 30 minutes

How long did it take for your light flashes to go away? Cuz I just had my surgery a week ago and I still see them…. Gonna have my one week follow up tomorrow.
But I had a similar thing, the first optometrist told me all good but I did not trust how quickly they judged that. Then I go somewhere else for a second opinion and they did all these scans that the other people never did and they said I needed surgery in my right eye asap.
I still have light flashes. This is "normal" and will not go away. My surgeries were in 2017 and the ophthalmologist and surgeon monitor it regularly
@@kaythecpa darn did they say why those don’t go away? That’s the main symptom that brought me in tbh was seeing flashes in my peripheral vision. Was hoping those would go away at some point 😕

3 months after cataract surgery I am getting a lot of large floaters in both eyes. I am diagnosed PVD that puts me on the risk of RD.
Do u also have glaucomam
HOW FLASHES LOOK LIKE AND HOW LONG IT LASTS
In the corner of eye, And the all time
So what flashes looked like.
I just had mine done in my left eye and it’s scary😭 I had saw a curtain and then saw a lottt of floaters

Yes, surgery didn't make them go away but every yearly checkup the doctor monitors them.

WITHIN 1 YEAR I HAD 5 SURGERIES
I did not experience that. It took a few months to a year to feel normal again

I had retinal detachment on my left eye when I was 19. I had a major surgery on that eye. When I was preparing for my university entrance exam, same happened with my right eye although to much lesser extent due to regular checkups. As a Chinese I also visited Chinese M.D. who said that I had poor kidney and liver health and he prescribed herbs to help. I believe that both Chinese traditional doctors and Indian doctors believe that one will suffer if ones energy is out of balance. Yes sound like insane but you will be amazed when you witness they cure some cancer patients. Therefore I recommend you to visit one good Chinese or Indian traditional doctor for consultation .
