    Heads up for the future; not all crustaceans are marine, or even aquatic. Take isopods for instance, aka rollie pollies aka woodlice. Decapods is a better term to describe them all in a neat, generalized category.

      He is part of a conservation company. He keeps them to preserve them for science.

      My friend has some of these as well as various other phasmids. They are pretty funky animals. It is a shame that the lovely green colours rarely preserve well after death

      He mostly works with conservation for museums. So he travels around and do work for them to keep/restore their collections. Though he has some specimens in his private collection as well.

      @@sungpark3316 What's the issue? He said the cientific name only. It's not like you would've guessed that. The name doesn't give anything really, unless you were familiar with the name already, and if you were you would've probably figured it out before reading the comment.

    I was yelling "leaf insect!" at the screen as soon as you started. There's a bug zoo in my hometown that has a lot of different kinds of stick and leaf insects so I've seen them before. They're so neat!

    This video format is super interesting. I don't know much about cameras or recording, but if you could somehow make videos like this in 1440p or even 2160p to see all the little details on the specimens, I think that would be super cool.

    I love not only all the specimens you presenting and discussing about, but also the way you photoshoot them and filmed them, I mean the lightings so cool and calming. if you don't mind may I know what type of lightings you are using? I'm an animal sculptor, and I really like my animal models be presentable like your specimens in their thumbnail and in the videos.     how are these carnivorous? can you tell me what insects they eat? all the species of "stick" or phasmid insects have a specific and limited vegetation diet. they are 100% herbivorous inverts.

      They aren't carnivorous at all 😅 females can give you a bit of a kick but are otherwise completely harmless
      Mine eat strictly bramble and are chill af

      @@bextings7479 yea, I was being sarcastic 😂 my friend in Germany has had them since she was 10...she now 38. She just allows a few eggs to hatch at a time. My friend also has walking sticks and a New Guinea species. The males are super sketchy and will pinch you in a heartbeat tho

    it is a female Heteropteryx dilatata.
    have had those as pets.
    the female does not fly, and the male is a lot smaller and can fly.

    This is quite hybrid-like.
    Long antennas and size remind me of the wood/bark eating insect family but the coloring is more towards leaves instead of bark. Those guys have antennas 3 times their body size so this guy isn't it. Leaf eater.
