As someone in the gig economy as a freelance content writer and translator, it's tough out here. Many companies are profiting more than ever while their workers receive less and less with every passing year. It's a tragedy, and corporate greed is the core issue behind everything. Thanks for this interesting documentary.

    • @danielch6662

THAT is a myth. Most of these companies are bleeding cash, fighting to be the one or two eventual survivor. Many of these companies are structured like e-startups, burning through the multiple rounds of funding they raise, hoping to survive to become the eventual winner. Once that happens, they will promote stricter regulations to "protect the customers from all these fly-by-night operators", aka their newer competitors. If you think it is tough now, wait till the competition thins out and there is only one or two survivor in each sector. THEN the squeeze will come in. These gig jobs are never long term. They're all temporary, until you find something more stable. Anybody who thinks they can rely on these jobs long term need to have their head examined. And yes, I was in this about 2 years back. Even when I was doing it, I looked at how much they are taking in, how much they pay out, the overheads they must have, and it was obvious to me that it wasn't a profitable business.

Cancelling deliveries should be forbidden. If you have ordered a meal and paid, accept it on your own risk, you are waiting in the comfort of your home, while the deliverer risk their life. That is not kind and respectful.

One time I ordered the game The las of Us ( physical copy ) and the delivery person miss read my address and leave the package 📦 at the wrong house base on the picture he sent me. However, i didn’t make any complaint because i know he’s probably busy with trying to deliver many other packages ( my friend used to do the delivery job back and Vietnam so i know how it is ) and the game isn’t that expensive anyway, so i let it go.
