Gun stuff aside, congratulations on your Master’s Degree. That is a real accomplishment. By the way, if your scope doesn’t hold up, consider a Leupold.
I’ve ran the ballistics on 12 gauge sabot slugs vs .50 Beowulf and they are damn near neck and neck. The Beowulf recoil can be more effectively be reduced with a muzzle break though. Great video!👍 I had the same results with flyers using Hornady sst’s. They group horribly.
WOO-TEE-WHO.. I ve had several Weatherby products over the years..from mark 5s to vanguards, in various calibers....my first weatherby shotgun is this used SA459 I purchased from a local pawn shop..it wasn't ever taken care of, unserviced and dirty, missing the screw in bennelli/beretta extended choke....the thing I found about a great weatherby product, is the service, is second to none, like Ive never seen with any of my firearms..from SnW to Walther to Remmington(actually got issues with remmington)...weatherby service dept. had me up and on the range shooting every load the gun could handle in less the 3 days from time I ordered parts for the 20 gauge....needed a low power piston and new O ring, and grabed a choke.....never ever doubt anything weatherby sells you...they will back the product right to the hill, from jump street.
Nice shooting, great video. Those same slugs were $15 for 5 of them at my local store, now I feel bad for not buying more of them. Thank you for your work.
I'm in a shotgun only area most of the time too i know tons of people use hornadys myself I love the remington accutips they thump too got a new browning silver semi in 20 guage rifled this year can't wait to break it in !
I've never found a shotgun load that shot better than about 2 inches at 50 yards. Still perfectly adequate for shooting deer. Ever deer I've shot had been with a shotgun and most of them with the Hornady American Whitetail sabot slugs.
I too have used the Hornady SST's for years. Every deer I have pulled the trigger on has gone down within 30 yards. Best shotgun load for whitetail deer. Ever.
That is a nice looking shotty Adam. I miss my pumps and semi auto's down in here Oz. A big congratulations on hitting the 300K milestone with many more to come. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely beautiful shotgun! I’d be afraid to take it through the brush and scratching it. I’d probably have to wrap it up with something to protect it. 😮
I have a Mossy 500 w/rifled barrel & scope that I use with the SST slugs. Set up another 500 for my son-in-law same way. Sighted them in to be dead on @ 125 yards. His deer have all been taken @ 150+ yards; mine @ less than 10. All 1 shot kills. Those slugs aren't cheap, but the performance is worth the money.
I haven't shot mine I years too for the same reason, and because they don't make the ammo I like to use any more. The Remington Buck Hammer slugs worked way better than those extremely high priced sabot slugs ever did, and they would drop them in their tracks.
WHO_TEE_WHO, this was a good one. That is a dandy dandy gun... very nice! I grew up hunting Whitetails with slugs. I used a Browning BPS (12 gauge). In those days, Brenneke was a very popular slug. I shot several Whitetails with Brenneke slugs. That gun did not have the rifled slug barrel that Browning offered at that time (mid-1980s/maybe 1982 or 1983). I used a regular 28" "improved" barrel/choke. With that barrel, it was accurate out to ~80 yards; I did shoot one at ~100 yards but that may have been luck. :) I always liked the bottom loading and bottom ejection on that gun. The top safety was nice as well... gold trigger; that was a nice gun. Never had to worry about rain/freezing rain/snow/cold; it always worked.
I have one slug gun. It is a Marlin 512 bolt action with IRON SIGHTS, thankfully!!! It's a great shooter out to 120 yards or so. Anyways, that's a beautiful shotgun you have ,great vid as always.
Aw man, I had bad experiences with Simmons scopes. Both that I bought had a mind of their own, like a ghost was messin with my windage & elevation 👻 Never had that problem with any other brand. Glad you found one that works, I won't touch em anymore. Beautiful slug gun man, thanks for sharing it 👍
Being in a rifle state, my shotguns have always been dedicated for birds. We are allowed to use a single shot with slugs during primitive season, so maybe I will give it a go one of these days to say I did.
I don't remember the ammo but we were issued Mosenburg 500As. At 100 yards you had to use a 6 o'clock hold on the bottom of the target to hit center mass as the slugs had a little rise. You said to let you know if the Norma 308 Whitetail you tipped me off to did good. They did fantastic for youth day last weekend. One 8 pointer, one 4 pointer and one doe. Thanks again Sir!
Remmington accutips, the older copper solids, and lightfield slugs where the best groups I ever got. Seemed like any brand that pushed that 1800 to 2000 FPS range where all over the place. Slower slugs where much better in my experience. Chased them all over the paper at $3 a pop.
I love my PA-08 in 20g. I really regret not getting the rifled barrel combo while it was available but I love the wood grain and I'm keeping it forever.
Great video and a superb shotgun that's sadly no longer made! I'm a huge Weatheby fan and own both a 270 and 300 that have dropped deer in their tracks! I live in the Northeast, shotgun land for sure and have a customized JC Higgins Model 20 pump with a rifled choke tube that shoots 2 inch 50 yard groups and has dropped two deer in a single hunt once, so I know that the 12 GA is a monster deer slayer when shot placement is perfect! Damn, wish I'd used that idea for another new gun when I got my MBA! And geez those shells are hard to find and expensive these days!
Just a trick I've always done after an adjustment to the scope I like to tap on top of the adjustment dial usually with a spent cartridge case It doesn't hurt and I've found after sighting in many scopes it works.
I've heard of that trick. Another is moving a click or two more than what you intend and then adjusting back. I've seen postings where people reported they do both.
I shoot a 12ga Mossberg 500 DSG. And have shot Hornady SST for years. Have an older american-made Simmons aetec 3x9 scope on it I pinned the barrel to the receiver so it is now slug gun only. It will shoot 4" to 5" at 200yds. I had to take the recoil pad off because the butt stock is a little bit too long for me so it's a thumper when you sight it in. I've killed dozens of deer with it and none ran more than a few yards. I've gotten to where I actually prefer to hunt with it over most of my deer rifles, something about hitting one with a 300 grain sledgehammer just makes me smile.. lol
Remington slug barrels like Remington ammo. I've tested it all out a 870 with every barrel ever made for one except hastings wadloc barrels. (Wadlok= vent rib barrel with chokes and straight rifling for bird shot) no slugs.
Hey Adam WOW Master’s in business congratulations ya not just a pretty face mate , I got my Masters degree in business 20 years ago as I remember it took heaps of study time nobody gave me a beautiful gun like that , your dad must be a great Guy too , l hope everything is going well for y’all over there , we’re now in our 8th week of hard lockdown and I haven’t been off the property , without TH-cam and especially your videos I would have gone crazier than I have lol , thanks Mate keep em coming , Steve from Aussie .
Zeroing slugs can be so frustrating. I have gone to just two shot groups on cold perfectly clean barrel. Best group is always the 2nd and 3rd shot for me. But for hunting, I need 1st shot to be most accurate. I think sabot build up in rifling makes pressures to inconsistent.
I am impressed my friend, no silly hillbilly guy for you. What did you Master. Always want to earn one, but money is the issue anymore, even though I am a retired Marine. Texting you from a deer stand in Arkansas. Love your channel. I am about to do the same with my Winchester 1300 combo. This shot gun has saved my life in hog country when I was once charged dead on. It took two slugs, but got her done.
Thanks for sharing WTW! Reminds me I still have to do this with my new Winchester 1300. Was able to find rifled slugs from Midway USA, you can also check Palmetto state armory.
That's the Rolls-Royce of American made Shotguns, sweet 🇺🇲. I can't speak for a 12 gague but for rifle sighting in at 45 yds (which is common for Indoor Range) hitting the bulls eye then 1 1/2" Low puts you Zero at 100 yds. I've seen guys do that and leave content believing there Zero at a 100, or argue about it..."it's Zeroed in". That's some wicked weight with that Slug.. Wow!
I’ve had poor luck grouping the high velocity sabots out of a rifled barrel Mossberg 500. The Hornady Custom Lite 300 grain were the only sabots that grouped well at about 1.5-2”, although foster style slugs also worked. I’ve heard a newer, faster twist barrel works better but who knows.
I have an old Weatherby shotgun that my father has coming someday. I am more than willing to wait for it if you know what I mean. My experience with the Hornada similar to the pattern that you Had all over the place after I got it Set in I thought we went out to the range Showing my buddies what kind of pattern the Hornaday was holding and lo and behold I was all over the place again so you might want to try that before you go Hunting
You probably getting tired of me complimenting you on that damn song at the end of your video I love it! Would love to hear you sing them good old boys like all the dukes of buzzards
I love that 12ga! Beautiful!! All I use is my maverick 88 with slugs and works great! I don’t trust my .243 being sighted in. I have only one box of pops and around my area in Oklahoma I can not find 243 ammo. I need to bring it to Tennessee and let ya sight it in for me. I’ve seen you only use 3 shells to get it right. Great video!
One of the bucks I ever killed with a gun was with a Rossi Stagecoach 20 gauge. In Arkansas like 25 years. He about 40 yards and I double lunged him. Still have that shotgun
Gun stuff aside, congratulations on your Master’s Degree. That is a real accomplishment. By the way, if your scope doesn’t hold up, consider a Leupold.

They group very well for me out of my 870. You just have to make sure the barrel is cool.
WOO-TEE-WHO..

Great video. I’ve tried those same slugs in my 1187 and would hold a terrible group. I use Remington accutip and they shoot 1-1.5” group at 100 yards.
The Hornady SST would tumble out of my 1187 never figured that out, still shooting older Rem copper solids, shoots like a rifle at 100yds
It's hard to go wrong with a Weatherby! Very nice!
Nice shooting, great video. Those same slugs were $15 for 5 of them at my local store, now I feel bad for not buying more of them. Thank you for your work.

I've been telling everyone for years that old rusty boolots are more accurate than new shiny ones. HA! Told y'all so! Lmfao
😝😝😝
Congrats on 300k! Crazy that y’all can take 3 does per day. I’m lucky to get 2 doe tags per year

You are joking right
The savage 220 slug gun is a pure nail driver , love it !!! Best slug shotgun that I’ve ever shot by far !

@@haroutiounbaboyan4372 not sure but I wouldn't doubt it.
Glad your doing a slug gun video personally my favorite method of hunting whitetail

So happy to see WTW to finally hit 300k subs. I remember when I found his channel with less than 80k.
Thank you Chase 🙏🙏🙏

I'm with you there bro. Anything above 22wmr, and Simmons is crap. They should be airsoft only lol.
Congratulations on your master's degree, I also had my first rifle when I graduated from highschool as a gift from my mom

I just got my great granpas old remington 700 in 7mm mag. Now my remington 700 in 300RUM has a little brother.

I’ve always had the best accuracy with Lightfield sabot slugs. I’ve shot it through at least 4 different guns shot well in all of them.
lightfield is done. lightfield exp were my favorite slugs but good luck finding them now. I dont think they even produce exp's anymore.

That shotgun sounds so smooth compared to my Mossberg 500 smooth as butter ( :
Shoot 3 rds, make your adjustment. These 1 rnd adjustments are wild
The action looks a lot like the 870 rem. Is it much different than the Remington?
