    Just used this camera on a production last week. You can add metadata on the small HD monitor pages and it will put a red box around the image when you're rolling which helps a bit with at least knowing when you're rolling.

    I recently got the Portkeys LH5P II monitor. I don't know what it may support for Fuji, but it supports a lot of camera brands with being able to connect via usb to the camera and then control certain things via its touchscreen. One of the things it adds for me on Panasonic, aside from changing ISO, shutter, etc., is the red recording rectangle.

    I totally agree with your points here, and I think that a lot of these software improvements will be fixed at some point with a firmware update.
    Except the waveform tools and the very useful red recording box on screen, i would love to have some options on aspect ratio (2.35:1) that could help on framing when shooting in a low profile, without external monitor or recorder.

    Sweet video dude, agree with everything you've raised! Biggest one for me is those in-camera monitoring tools for run&gun situations where a monitor is prohibitive, & Yeah man with HDMI display on it's a direct mirror of that little low res LCD's feed sadly, this is pretty standard on mirrorless systems to due processing limitations I believe, but agreed! It would be sweet if there's enough headroom in the processor to give us additional options in HDMI out. I wouldn't be surprised if it's impossible on this hardware though.

  • @6randonslens

    I have a few questions in terms of using the setup you had with a V-mount on set.
    How long were you able to power the camera, monitor, teradek and other accessories off of the one v-mount battery for? Were you turning off the camera when switching shots if you had to completely setup a new area or was the camera on during the full production day besides the lunch break? *Planning to build a rig on rails for a week overseas*

    • @Eyeofkamau
      @Eyeofkamau ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think fuji could make it happen for under $4,000. C70 pricing is pretty high for a fuji cinecam, unless it has internal ND’s, a real Dual Native ISO, etc. But even then, In my opinion, an cinecam version of the XH2s shouldn’t cost more than an FX3. Regardless, would LOVE to see a cinecam in the lineup one day. Fuji already has their foot in the door with cine-lenses, let’s make it happen Fooj

      @@CineDailies Im currently deciding between the x-h2s and the S5iix for hobbyist hybrid use. I dont know how much it matters, but 4k bitrates only go up to 200Mb/s. You're gonna have a blast with the X-H2s! On another note, the 'X-Trans CMOS 5 HS' sensor used in the Fujifilm X-H2s is designed by Fujifilm with manufacturing outsourced to Sony. Fujifilm retains patents on their sensors (U.S. Patent 8,531,563). A Sony body with a Fujifilm X-Trans sensor is highly unlikely, but not impossible (given the legalities around it)

    May I know what HDMI cable you’re using to get that clean 6.2k feed out from the camera? I’ve been using SmallRig’s 30cm HDMI cable to no avail, my Feelworld F6 Plus just displays a black frame. Unsure of what the issue may be

    • @ChristopherKou
      @ChristopherKou ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the same monitor. don't think it's a cable issue. Most lower end monitors won't accept a 6.2k clean feed. They will only accept 4k, so you need to turn the display on for output for the camera to scale down.

    • @CineDailies
      @CineDailies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no issue. Open gate is 3:2. All external monitors are 16:9 natively, so a 3:2 aspect ratio will have black bars on the sides

      @ChristopherKou ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tianjuinsee you have to set your camera to output display info over HDMI. This will downscale your feed to 4K and make it viewable on your monitor, but it will also result in the not-clean feed and fuzziness that @Cine Dailies is talking about. But between that and a blank screen ... I take the fuzzies, I guess!

  • @ScottClintonPhotography
    @ScottClintonPhotography ปีที่แล้ว

    Someone may have mentioned already, but the HDMI output on the XH2 is actually 6k... You can attach an Atmos Ninja V+ and record 6k ProRes Raw out of it... Which I do on occasion.

    • @CineDailies

      @@CineDailies I currently shoot a X-Pro 2 and would keep it as a dedicated stills camera unless the QOL changes a XH2S has would lead to me selling, but I am more than happy having two dedicated cameras for specific jobs.
      I'm unsure of how important autofocus is as I only shoot one autofocus lens for my work then mainly old adapted glass.
      Additionally, I am just really starting with doing video based work and will be shooting product videos for a perfume company so I'm unsure of the importance of good AF or audio in those scenarios. I am very strong when it comes to shooting manual focus (even without focus peaking if I squint hard enough).

    • @ChristopherKou
      @ChristopherKou ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I wanted a video-only camera I probably would have gotten a BMPCC6KPro. I got the X-H2S because I want to do photography too. If Fuji were to release a box cam with the same sensor I would definitely consider it when I need a video only camera. But not if it's $1K more than the BMPCC6KPro and the X-H2S.

    • @TheJ_G
      @TheJ_G ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChristopherKouI would choose a beefed up XH2s cinema style camera over the BM6KPro everyday. The BM6KPros rolling shutter is horrific and their build quality feels awful. BM’s color science is really nice, but so is Fujis. And if Fuji managed to squeeze their film sims into a cinema camera, too, BM has nothing on that. And if I really want BRAW, I could just add the blackmagic assist monitor to the Fuji cinema cam, which I assume they’d support since they support it on the XH2s. All of this is wishful thinking at best though.

      @@TheJ_G I mostly agree. I have used the BMPCC6K extensively. It does feel fragile, and the sensor readout is slow (but not nearly as slow as my Sony a6300 was!). But the BRAW image out of that camera is absolutely a joy to work with in every way. Hopefully Blackmagic's next offering is faster and more rugged.

    Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like a lot of channels on TH-cam like this critique these hybrid mirrorless cameras so much when they’re not necessarily designed to be cinema cameras. When you buy a hybrid camera you have to expect/deal with compromises…I guarantee you even if Fuji took this feedback seriously and implemented those changes that no professional cinematographer would ever consider Fuji as a solid option for serious video work.

    • @CineDailies
      @CineDailies  ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally, that was the point of my critique and experiment.
      But don't discount videos like this as if a professionals dp wouldn't use a mirrorless cameras in their work flow. Be a it's been done before, I've been on panels, talked to engineers and dps. It's all relative to each production.
      Fuji made a solid camera but limited by it's mirrorless body, like any other mirrorless camera, that's worth a critique.
