Tensions soared on the border, and reports of a new guardian surfaced. The Tigr all-terrain infantry mobility vehicles, sent by Russia, now proudly sporting the distinctive Gibka-S missile turrets atop their armored frame. This wasn't just a deployment; it was a statement etched in metal, a promise echoing across the fields. It signaled a commitment to securing the skies in a region where uncertainties loomed like storm clouds on the horizon. However, what sets the Gibka-S air defense system apart, and what specific capabilities does it bring to the table? Stay tuned to discover more about it!

A very poor one. Most of the metaphors and imagery that they use are totally inappropriate and unnecessary. Quite a lot of the time, it doesn't make any sense, presumably because the concept doesn't translate properly from whatever native language the creator speaks.

It's a needed Russian protective measure nullifying low flying threats to Russia's soldiers and equipment etc.
Like all similar systems it lacks a cheap secondary system to protect if from cheap drones in numbers...
This IS the cheap secondary systems. S-300M, Pantsir and lastly this thats 3 AD systems to get through.
The guns in all systems now days kinda outdated to shot down drones and those stuf

yes that was exactly what I was thinking maybe a small short range laser or maybe a Gatling gun multiple barrels for self protection and then with the same guidance system it needs more self-defense because it's going to be a target for a lot of different systems
Looks equivalent to the US Avenger which were given to Ukraine (and all were quickly destroyed). These things need to be close to the combat line and they are very vulnerable to FPV drones.
I think this system can detect and shoot down drones.
thing is ukraine does not have an air force or attack helicopters. I really doubt the russians even uses this equipment in the current conflict. They might be effective against drones but it has to be crazy expensive to use against drones

Wouldn't it be more cost-efficient to create anti-drone weapons that fires high explosive shells or shrapnel? The system on the ground can calculate speed, distance etc and set a timer on the shell (speed up a mechanical fuse) before firing a volley at incoming drones? Modifying WW2 type anti-aircraft and adding electronics actually seems like a good idea to me. But I'm not a politician so what do I know?
Been saying the same thing. WW2 era weapons are very relevant in this war.
Yeah they do have 57mm autocannon air-defence vehicles with directed-blast shells in development. But the Gibka-S is something that's ready for prime-time so for now it will do.
Pantsir has that but when you're protecting an expensive S-300/400 you don't take chances with conventional shells

cruise missiles, drones..... and A-10..no cover for the ground troops like they have in the Middle East. This system is a lot better than just shoulder mount. Not need to carry by a solder, can reload on the field where the missiles can just store inside the truck. Can relocate a lot faster than a ground troop. For the look of it, I think they can charge the max load from 4 to 8 very easily, just stack 4 more on the top.
It's EXACTLY the same as shoulder mounted. It's just 4 of them, not 1. They do have impressive range and altitude though.
@@Gunni1972 They are not "carry" by soldier and shoot by mounting on a soldier is what I meant "shoulder mount". Hand carry equipment in an open battle field is always avoided if possible. Only benefit of soldier carrying is avoid detention.

They need to send those to Lebanon and Syria
But the Tunguska is the dedicated system for this purpose
OK so is it a kinetic or explosive device? You didn't say.
It is not commented, if the system is capable to take down cruise missiles. Fighter jets will not approach less than 30 km to the contact line.
Well, time will tell, so the short range Gibka are susceptible to air to ground long range missiles attack.
A simplified, more mobile version of the SA-13 Gopher. Useful but not a game changer.
in this configuration it is not really a game changer if it would carry 24 missiles it would become interesting and if they have 50 missiles on backup then it becomes a game changer with good guidance

Having dual attackers will have major damaging effects on existing defensive systems. Most of these are only designed to intercept staggered aggressors. The US naval assets have this problem. US will have to adopt these types of primitive shotgun systems. These have been suggested before, but now it is shown as necessary. However cheap drones can defeat these, in mass attacks. What the Rus need is a shotgun attack via equivalent cheap drones.
Russia has all the bases covered with air defense systems. The new s500 is being deployed and awaits F-16s if they ever show up - and that is questionable.
