I keep coming back to this channel because he doesn't push crazy gear or plug ins or whatever Dude is practical and always comes back to it's HOW to not Gear with mixing. Everyone can make a pro mix now on an interface that's 10-5 years old or newer. Does expensive crazy gear help. Maybe. Sometimes it makes it worse as people don't know what to do with it. Thanks again Bobby! Mid range is tricky and overlooked.
The reason I tell other people to check out Bobby's channel is because his mixes actually sound good! You're straight to the point, no fancy pants bullshit. It is criminal that more people don't come here. But hey, maybe this can be our secret space
Isn't it weird when you pull up a channel and shit sounds whack when they hit play, but they seem to be saying legit information? Shows how easy it is to word salad these concepts without ever embodying the concepts through rigorous practice and experiment! Bobby is the man, he taught me so much about the "less is more" philosophy
Your shirt: "Silent Night Deadly Night." That movie has been a classic staple in my family for my whole life. It is the crowning moment of our Christmas every year. My mom passed that on to me, and I am passing it on to my kids and grand kids. Simply fantastic!
Great tip. What a difference. Going though your Heaving Mixing Unlocked and really learning a lot. Keep up the AWESOME work. Was going to say the snare sounds like someone is beating a box and then you EQed it what a difference.
Here's the process on Saturdays; I go to my brothers to record, we watch whichever of your videos we need for what we're doing, follow the instructions and then the song sounds that much better. I feel like we owe you a credit on our next album! Thanks again.
Im one of those ppl that like to boost more than cut, but i understand that eq is like a scale I think it might be a good video to explain which freq you want to bring out on specific things like for example 200hz is where most snare ring is
The overheads to sound cleaner with those cuts, but do you ever find that you are missing some of the attack/punch of the crashes that exists in the midrange? I feel like that is a part of a cymbal sound that I have been wanting to bring back into my productions.
I'll throw another one out there... low pass your drum rooms around 8k or so. And if you use programmed drums, send less cymbals to at least one room channel, so you can smash it good.

Just saw it in theaters a few weeks ago at Alamo Drafthouse...the movie never gets old!

I'm happy to have been a help!
I asked for this review months ago and it’s finally here! Thanks for the straight forward informative video Bobby!
Another great video! Seems like you’re using the Sm57 a lot more these days. Do you prefer it over the Sm7 now?
Hey Bobby! Thanks for the video. The Magic Is In The Midrange!
Great advice as always, thank you for all you share man!
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Wow, I don't know if this is divine intervention but this content is Exactly what I need right now! Thanks for this!

Never. There's usually too much 1-4Khz, so cutting it a few dB only helps.
Thankyou!!!
