    I've stayed at this hotel several times, coming in from out of town, it's the only way to go if you have an early flight to your vacation destination the next morning. As soon as you check in you feel your vacation starting.

    Hi Brian, I always enjoy your car reviews, and then found this - the best Fairmont YVR video. We are staying there next week, for the exact same reasons as you mentioned. Instead of waking at 4AM and rushing, we will instead start our vacation a day early and just relax right at the airport. Thanks!

      This hotel isn’t just beside the airport, it’s actually in the airport. From the pool and gym, you’re actually looking down at the departure. So convenient to wake up and just be there, no driving, no parking.

    • @Bartonovich52
      @Bartonovich52 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s very common for those of us who live far away from an airport. I used to always book a hotel near an airport. We’d drive the day before, get free parking for our trip, and free breakfast and hotel shuttle in.
      Long layovers it helps too.

      Actually they have a special rate for BC, Alberta and Washington state residents. About $250. Not the cheapest but after doing it, I’d say worth it not to stress about missing the flight and no yelling at the kids at all 😎 I wish I could do it for every trip but for a once a year family holiday, it’s a no brainer. My son and I spent the weekend here just because he is obsessed with airplanes so it was great for him and I a nice relaxing stay Vak for me Globe is an amazing restaurant but $$$$ young kids eat free but still dinner for one is $$$$ but it is the fairmont so expect anything less

      Ya definitely wish it a bit more reasonable, For us it was just shy of $900 and the doesn’t even include the $100+ dinners and the $26 for the pancakes and $7 coffee for breakfast. But it was just before Christmas and it was a weekend so … and there is tons of places in the airport for cheap food
      But you got to live a little bit every now and then

    I take my motor home to the Vancouver airport the night before an early morning departure. I watch TV and have a shower and can be in the terminal in about 10 minutes all for the price of a parking spot! I've stayed at that Fairmont but why would I spend the money just to save 10 minutes?

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you had to spend a lot more than $250 for your RV😜 Where do you park and how do you get to the airport? I’d love to have an RV one day.

    • @bobhoskins9595
      @bobhoskins9595 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a REALLY smart solution. Anybody with a van or just a station wagon or car with fold down seats could do that. And you can put your luggage in a locker for security and walk around the airport and check things out: Like the Fairmont Hotel!

  • @Bartonovich52
    @Bartonovich52 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I got to stay there for free. I work medevac and we often don’t get to choose the times we are overnighting in YVR, so the Fairmont was the only hotel available. Very nice, but the view of the roof of the terminal was less than spectacular and the hamburger I ordered for room service was the most expensive, greasy, and disappointing burger I’ve ever eaten.

    Very smart idea! So many people do not think about things like early flights, or getting to the airport on time. Then they try to blame the airline when they miss their flight. Trust me, I know, I worked at YVR for Delta Airlines for 23 years. Anyway, now I don't travel a lot. While I live in East Vancouver, I think I will take your idea and incorporate it into my next flying trip. Thanks for a great review!
    Carl

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I live in Surrey so weekday early morning commutes are really really bad especially for trying to catch a flight. Another thing people like to blame the airlines for is when they don’t get to sit together on the plane because they are too cheap to pay for seat selection will you buy the ticket and they assumed that someone on the plane will just want to switch with them.

    • @robocop581
      @robocop581 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can also look up hotels in Richmond. Much more affordable

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you are correct. I actually had a free night I could have used at the Westin down the road but figured that I’d still have to load up all the luggage, strap the kids up, scrape the windows if it was a cold morning, drop the family and luggage off at the airport, drive to long term parking and then shuttle back. It would have saved the time of the commute for sure but didn’t offer the incredible convenience of being right in the airport. Believe me, I factored everything in and this way is the ultimate. It’s not the cheapest but for a once a year family vacation with an early AM flight, it’s a no brainer.

    • @adilghazanfar519
      @adilghazanfar519 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not true. Everyone thinks about it but no one can justify the cost

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adil Ghazanfar This is kinda untrue as well. I have several friends that stay at an airport hotel every time they travel on an early AM flight. It’s not like they do this often but on average, a couple times of year. I always questioned them and their answer was similar to “we want to make sure there’s no issues in the morning, don’t want to rush etc” I totally get it now. If I’m going to spend $250 a night on my destination hotel, no reason I wouldn’t spend it the night before to start the holiday early. Since I fly out about 50 times a year, I wouldn’t do this every time( I wish I could) I’ll be incorporating this into our family vacations that involve an early AM flight. Where do you live Adil?
