OTT without a doubt #1 Love your channel. Lots of knowledge. Personally OTT diever leafs stage 1 with 5100s Big brake upgrade 6112 med load coilovers 275 75 r17 K03s I will say this. I personally put an injen cold air. Ran it 60k ml. Put my stock back on. Way better. Dont do it unless you're going to TRD intake. Always had hard shifts.
Nice video, it would've been nice to have time stamps to all the products in description. I want to hear about the AC Drasin mod but cant find it in the video to hear your thoughts. It's too long of a video to listen to it all the way through to find.
Very easy mod hose clamp, hose and cable ties. Wish I could Rember the size of hose but that was the first mod I did the day after I brought the truck home. Minnesota loves salted roads.
My 3rd gen 4Runner has the same drip on frame AC drain design. I have zero rust after 26 years in southern California. However, if you live in the rust belt and want some protection, I'd go the fluid film route rather than the drain plug mod. I've heard some bad things about that mod. For what it's worth, there's another spot right by the oil filter where condensation from the AC line above drips on the frame/steering rack. There is no drain line in that spot to modify so you might as well hit them both with fluid film and be done with it. Then just reapply every couple oil changes and you're good to go. I've done that and it's been working great so far.
Just found your channel. So far seems awesome. I’ve been adding some mods here and there have a 22. I’m gonna check out that dash cam. I can’t believe the people that you are annoying with your coffee sipping. Yes it’s not the best thing to listen to but my God it sure rubs people the wrong way. I’ll be back and watch all your shows.
I laughed at this one, never imagined a coffee sip would be so bothersome! Definitely look into a dash cam, likely the best investment you can make in your truck/vehicle these days! -Austin
Great video. I would S tier those cup holders (I also added a chalk bag on the passenger side as a bonus holder). Tailgate panel replacement makes my knees so happy, A tier for sure. Cheers!
Maybe I missed it, but don’t forget about the East Coats Gear Supply (ECGS) bushing mod for the front differential. Especially If you have a lift, it’s only a matter of time before you develops a vibration (felt in the steering wheel & floor board) between 20-30 mph. This replaces the needle bearing that supports the drivers side CV axle shaft as it exits the differential. The bushing is wider than the OEM needle bearing that wears out when any extra angle is put on the CV axle such as when it’s lifter. You can buy this in a DIY kit and install in several hours at home. 2016-TRD sport DC, long bed 4wd. And yes, a tune is a must. I have the KD Max 11.0, best thing for that truck. No more gear hunting, increased throttle response…
Yes the ECGS bushing is a must for those with a lift, most of us at TOD don't have much of a lift so we haven't swapped out the OEM needle bearing. -Austin
A ton of very practical opinions here. Especially comparing OTT tune to pedal commander, better off putting your money into something that has a real improvement vs just a gimmick.
Cool video. Nice breakdown for some ideas. Could maybe do without the mic’d up sound of beverage being consumed. It’s just not my favorite sound, ya know? Maybe I’m weird 🍻
I have a 23’ Tacoma TRD and will be installing the Eibach stage 1 struts and shocks instead of the 5100’s after extensive research. The phone mount that I use is from TackForm and mounts to my vent next to the steering wheel, holds up very well no issues so far. I live in Maine and do seasonal mobile vehicle undercoating with Fluid Film and can vouch for this product. My vehicles are brand new underneath the layers of fluid film and dirt. Body Armor front bumper for the shackles, light bar spot, and wildlife deflector. Red Arc trailer brake controller, plug and play. Great video on the ranked mods, I’ll be looking into the OTT and I’ve been keeping up on your videos great information man much appreciated. Regular fluid maintenance is certainly a MUST. Love the chart!
Been running an offroam phone mount on the AC vent. Was the only one I could find that didn't need adhesive in the hot texas sun and also doesn't rely on clipping to the vent shutters. Bit pricey but haven't had to replace it in over a year so thumbs up for that.

Welcome to NY. I’m in the Finger Lakes region. You were smart to coat you truck with Fluid Film. The weather here in winter will destroy it. I use Both Surface Shield and Fluid Film.
Just bought a 2020 Tacoma SR 4D. 37k miles feels brand new going from a 230k mile 2011 ram. Now I’m wondering, did I buy a truck or a toy? This is gonna be a fun truck.
@@teamoildrop how do you feel about snorkels? I assume that’s overkill for most people but wondering if there’s any type of snake oil involved similar to the k&n stuff?
Pacific Roamer does some mod content here on YT, I'm sure there are other folks on here recommending what mods are worth the coin for 2nd gens. A lot of these mods are 2nd gen compatible or have their own 2nd gen versions as well! th-cam.com/video/eeNCacBrqe0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pVht7vus614oeneB -Austin
There is a sweet spot with the intakes. There’s a k&n intake that keeps the factory box and just gives you a straight tube without that weird sound dampener thing. It’s literally just a pipe and an oiled filter that fits the factory box. Is it better? Idk. It was cheap and sounds $50 dollars better which is how much I paid when it was on sale.
you asked how I mount my phone. Hondo Garage phone mount. From Tacoma lifestyle. It fasten into the top of my vent closest to driver side door. You can almost close the vent fully, but not fully closed only disadvantage. The construction is immensely solid made from high-quality plastic in the ram components and the rest of it is constructed out of aluminum.. Phone sets in securely and its position and height is perfect. Doesn’t draw your eyes away from the road doesn’t block any visibility as I line it up with the door and windshield column. It’s over by the driver side, so no one else can be messing with your phone either. Nice comfortable height for using Google maps. It works extremely well off-road as the entire system is solid as a rock.. that’s the system I’m currently using.
I am short and have the opposite problem with my tacoma. I sit slightly too deep/low due to not having vertical adjustment, currently, I am running a booster seat, lol. Any similar parts to seat jacks just meant for the back side of the seat? great vid :)
Desert Does It also has spacers you can put underneath the rear seat mounts as well! They work great for the additional height some folks need. See here amzn.to/4aq8b1y -Austin
Thanks you for great info. I just bought the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport and came across your channel and learning so much already. I love it. Does Fumoto fit the 2024 Tacoma? I am thinking of buying that from your link but wanted to make sure as it says it won't fit in mine. Thank you in advance.
@@dfnc03 ya know I considered it but it seemed the tire world has so many great options I just left tires out completely. Plus, tires are user specific. Defenders are great but beaten by a true AT tire when the driver desires that.
Happy with the sound from my cold air intake, especially up higher in the rev range. The Toyota v6 sounds like trash with an exhaust so in my option the only way to get a slightly better sound is the an intake. Do I expect any performance upgrades from it? God no, and anyone that believe it will get them performance doesn't understand how modern vehicle's work Also as you said you have just moved to the rust belt I'm not sure how many snowstorms you have driven through. As far as headlights go the good thing about Halogen is that they give off just enough heat to usually keep your light clear, iv noticed a lot the LED lights get covered quickly
They are a great addition if you're worried about oil intrusion into the combustion chamber and intake, but the 2GRs aren't known to push that much oil through the PCV. Definitely worth it for some for the peace of mind though! -Austin
So I've personally never heard anything about this brand, but from what little research I can find, nobody seems to have any issues with them. They look to be of high quality and the brand reminds me of Ironman 4x4, so I'd say they'd be a safe bet, likely not as good as Bilsteins but not a bad option. -Austin
Can’t say barely brighter about the LEDs I love the upgrade on my vehicles because the difference is night and day. Definitely doesn’t blind anyone when set up right. Also wheel spacers don’t add wear on your bearings if you get hub centric or vehicle specific spacers.
If Toyota can prove the tune exists and the tune itself caused the damage at hand, yes it voids the warranty. However those two things aren’t easily proven. It’s a give and take, some folks prefer to not have to worry about it causing warranty issues and that’s perfectly fine! -Austin
They do work on the power seat models, they're only about 1-1.5in tall. So yes you will get some extra space to get under the seat, but I'm not sure it will be enough to store many things under there. -Austin
Good video, just would cut more of the dead space and not sip on stuff between sentences. I had my headphones on. And could hear you swallow in my hear. Not terrible comfortable 😅 Keep up the great work.
Hello friend!!! I have a 2017 Tacoma sr5 with 119,000 miles, I have a problem with my truck losing power and shuts off when I’m at stop lights and when I shut off my truck when I reach home, it started shaking like crazy 3-4mins after turning off, recently got it “fixed” and was working fine after a week and just started doing it again… and I’m stumped… 😢 my mechanic guy cleans my throttle body and it seem to work… for a week and just sounded it wrong
@chrislee4946 lol daniel defense. After you remove that garbage stock, grip and foregrip it's a decent rifle. You could have saved the money and built your own and put the extra cash into optics and ammo.

None of us here at TOD have trucks with large enough tires to warrant a regear, but we would highly advise one if you're pushing 34in+ tires to help alleviate some stress off of the drivetrain. So applicably, it's high on the list if necessary for your build. -Austin
I did some research and I could not find anything. Some people use a large chalk bag, see here: www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tool-less-32oz-cupholder-mod.672736/ -Austin
Modern Tacoma's don't really get a "fuel filter" it's more of a filter mesh that isn't serviceable like the old fuel filters. Unless you're getting improper fuel at your rail, we recommend you leave the fuel pump sending unit alone! -Austin
There hasn't been a ton of coverage on the 2.7, but they do share the same transmission as the V6 and likely could benefit from a remap of the shift points. You may want to reach out to Overland Tailor directly to get some better info from them! -Austin
I’m 6’ 3” and my hair already touches the cab when driving. I also have a manual. If I get seat hackers, will I be able to get my legs under the steering wheel? They’re almost touching now with my manual seat and my steering wheel out and all the way up.
I'd assume they might push your legs up too far into the steering wheel area, but hard to say. Maybe see if you want to purchase them and give them a test for a day or two, you could always return if not a big fan! -Austin
@@christianbearden28 Ya know, no shame. At your height I'd be looking for a fullsize myself. I will say, at 6' the two things that made my 3rd gen siginifcantly better were seatjackers and OTT tune. I will say, you will likely fit in a 4th gen MUCH better if youw want to stay in a midsize. Lookout for sunroof models as the roof sits lower in those.

@@teamoildrop Thanks! Just used your videos this morning for my transmission, transfer case, diffs and oil change :)

Sounds like a successful mod to me! Usually the ones that retain the factory airbox are the best performing ones in terms of intake air temps.

you asked how I mount my phone.
Sounds like you've got it nailed down! Thanks for the insight on the Hondo Garage version.

God no, and anyone that believe it will get them performance doesn't understand how modern vehicle's work
Also as you said you have just moved to the rust belt I'm not sure how many snowstorms you have driven through. As far as headlights go the good thing about Halogen is that they give off just enough heat to usually keep your light clear, iv noticed a lot the LED lights get covered quickly

Is Tough Dog lift brand from Ausies any good comparing to Bil5100?
So I've personally never heard anything about this brand, but from what little research I can find, nobody seems to have any issues with them. Can’t say barely brighter about the LEDs I love the upgrade on my vehicles because the difference is night and day. Definitely doesn’t blind anyone when set up right.

If Toyota can prove the tune exists and the tune itself caused the damage at hand, yes it voids the warranty. However those two things aren’t easily proven. It’s a give and take, some folks prefer to not have to worry about it causing warranty issues and that’s perfectly fine!
