Finis Mitchell is pronounced 'fee-nus" and lived in Rock Springs. He and his wife operated a fishing camp out of Big Sandy in the '30's and 40's and are responsible for stocking many of the lakes with trout. Mitchell Peak, across Jackass Pass from Warbonnet, is named after him for all of his contributions to the range. He climbed most of the peaks in the Winds. Mitchell Peak was the only officially named geographic feature after a living person. There is a long 5.9 on the North Face of Mitchell which is pretty good. Royal Robbins did the first traverse of the Cirque of the Towers.
Spent 6 wks in the Wind Rivers with 5 climbing buddies July-Aug 1972... Most of it at Cirque of the Towers camping at Lonesome Lake. Last Climb was Gannett Peak Had to bail on Wolf's Jaw in a gathering thunderstorm, Many stories & photos, J Golder w/Bob Gibson (RIP), Jim Minno, Alan Scott, Lou Snow & Larry Winter our leader. Memories!!!!!
So beautiful, fantastic filming, you guys really make it look easy. I had no idea the Wind River Range similar to the Karakorum. thanks for the scenery!
14:18 the Jacket of your Mate looks kinda shot 😅 Just recently got hooked on your channel, its fantastic! Nice Climbing, i wish we had those kinds of massive granite walls in the alps over here... Greetings from a german climber 💪
Excellent work...I wish I could swing pitchs with you guys...I was 5.11r grade VI A4...Water Ice 6 M7 back in the day..It has been 6 long years since my last climb due to back injury, sciatica and then rhuematoid arthritis now at 59. You move fast, smart and light...I feel like I am on the climbs with you guys Thanks 😁🏞 Jeff Bassett...Berg Heil !
Proper alpine efforts at decent altitude...thats why you're exhausted but buzzing...long hard effort surrounded by beauty...does things to a ma...sorry...person. Beautiful work.
I rarely say this, or, at least, I rarely say it and mean it, but, WOW. Serioursly! I recognized most of the gear except the shoes. One pair is LaSportiva's but what is the other?
@2:34 you should have added your date to the plate , that's what it's there for, either no one has noticed it since 1981 or no ones been to that spot , or realized the meaning of the plate ,but rad accomplishment guys,
Hi Tyler, Thank you for the great content! Very inspiring🙏 Would you be able to recommend a guidebook for the Wind River Range or did you use other sources? Thank you so much and good luck with all your future adventures!
I agree with Keith! Mountains are best enjoyed with only the sound of the wind, the clinking of hardware, and the human voice. Leave the music at home.

Gorgeous! I never heard of the place.
Way to get after it dude!
I spent 25 days backpacking in the Wind River Range & Cirque Of The Towers was the most beautiful place I’ve been to in a while.

looks sick af 👍
Do you think that the presuppositions of Ying Yang and all that entails, namely the natural, logically infer the SUPRAnatral ?
2:21 - It's slightly run out haha
when you rappel from the top, do you just use natural features or leaving slings when there are no rap rings ?
It totally depends. In the cirque we exclusively used slings that were left over from previous parties and added some cord to one or two anchors.
🤘🤯🤘 🐐
Wide angle lense distorts the beauty .
nice
14:19 he has not been kind to that jacket
Tyler, what camera do you film with??
Men are without excuse, the heavens declare the glory of God.
