Love the Kodiak. Mine is set up with eight medium pulse lasers for close in brawling and a single gauss rifle for long ranged fire support and to give me some heat neutral damage when I inevitably start cooking.
Bruh moment right there XD It was double funny because afk ppl tend to die at the end without even firing, coming back to the fight should be illegal XD

1st match literally sometimes happen, the DC-ed enemy assault in early game suddenly move and plummeting all remaining teammates ;w; (but in my case it was a MRM Cyclops)
With the two high mount PPCs, I think I'd keep those and replace the lower two with some sort of autocannons or the likes. With such huge pauses between shots you're going to get cooked.
In competitive and organized play paper thin back armor makes sense, but in the chaos of QP you need bit more in the back 8-10. It allows for more flexibility and won't leave you vulnerable as soon as you get touched. Conversely I think maxing out leg and head armor is not required in QP, headshots are very rare and leggings on heavier mechs are the result of a fluke more then intention. You can easily get 1 ton shaving leg/head armor and use it for something. I believe - thin back, max legs, max head is a really strange habit born of competitive mentality that is not useful in QP.
You got hit in the back because pgi killed the Kodiak hit boxes then the ghost heat killed uac10 firepower and then they killed the mobility. Thank goodness they just buffed the mobility if they would fix the hit boxes then it would be playable
I'm late to this one. Fell a bit behind on my daily dose. Worth the wait though. That first game was great damage. When I saw your build and mech speed I figured you'd be chewed up. Yes I know it's a video and maybe you did get owned many times before you had a video to put up but still. You did get a video and it was great. The second game I don't think you over twisted to the ice ferret but I think you did to the Anni that was across the way. I actually really like the Kodiak although I know it's not meta in anyway now. The new damage on the gauss is kinda terrifying even with the bad cooldown. Be interesting to see what they come up with when they roll back the patch. Good games today Bara. Thank you for them :D
Will this sort of positioning work with something like a quad LB5-X AC build? I'm really struggling with the KDK 3, but it's one of my favorite mechs and I want to be successful with it...
getting hit in the back at 2nd game is due to over twist with arm lock free, assaults have such a terrible torso twist that by the time you starts to twist back the torso already caught up to your arm twist. If you twist with arm lock on it won't be happening much though you would feel like you are the slowest mech in twisting.
Yeah what they did to the Kodiak is kind of a warcrime, there is a reason you dont see many of them on the battlefield anymore. How every its a two edged sword, seeing 5-6 100Ton mechs being nimble and running around like heavy mechs while dishing out pain left right and center wasnt to pleasent either....
IDK, he is a very experienced player and the tiers are often blended. I'm a new player in Tier 3 and even in games against known tier 2 and 1 players I've managed to rack up 700+ damage games in medium mechs pretty regularly.

I use them regularly, they didn't, they suffer from the same problem +2 damage is not worth double the cooldown. To put it into perspective, that's a 25% damage increase at the price of 100% cooldown! They're just way too slow, even when you boat them.
@@bojcio high level players also forgo weapons skills for mobility, decrease leg armor while increasing engine cap, as well as, increase overall damage/match through snipes
Ewwwww...standard engine on a clan mech...isn't that like, a cardinal sin or something? And that 5 armor on the back is just...I mean I saw that and just about started a prayer for Bara because I just knew what was coming...four gauss is scary, sure, but god help you if even a single enemy decides to focus you.
@@devil8975 Fair...but wouldn't they be loathe to lose a hundred ton mech because they carelessly stripped out the already thin back armor and lost the entire mech and four pricey gauss rifles to a scout? It's also slow as hell, even for an assault. Just seems like a configuration no self-respecting clanner would allow...or volunteer to pilot, for that matter. I mean I'm all four having four gauss rifles on a single mech for obscene sniping power and I know clanners love decisive battles but this just seems like a tough pill to swallow. Sad to see the Kodiak so slow these days, I used to love it for it's heavy tanky mobility with 4x LB10X =(
Got shot 4 times while I was in my fafnir, and was CT. The shots where so close together though, I figured it was a quad clan guass.
The Fafnir got a CT so huge that you cant effectively spread the dmg. Could have been a Tier S meta if not for the tremendous CT hitbox.
That artillery got you in the back in the second match.

Now do 6+ light ppcs on a hunchback, grasshopper, black knight, or the Top Dog before the revert.
