The tune is an old Irish melody, but the words of Danny Boy were actually written by a barrister from Bristol, England, about the beginning of the twentieth century.
Irish Tune from my home town of Limavady called the Londonderry Air ( or Derry Air to be politically correct - though that maybe sounds a bit crude) but lyrics were added by Frederic Weatherly of Bristol. Probably the most famous air from the island of Ireland - EVER. So I’m confused as why, for the opening bars of this, you would show Glencoe in Scotland ??
Love this song... but just wanted to point out the 'Scene' at 15 secs!!!... It's called the "Cliffs Of Moore", and I was there years ago, as a tourist from Australia... Very beautiful... EXCEPT, it is now EXTREMELY commercialized !!! You have to park a mile away, pay fees, forced to go through their building to hopefully sell you stuff, before you can go and view it!!!!!!
A spectacular scenery and a simple lovely singing.
❤Gudomlig vacker Gudinna fantastisk sångröst. Hallo from Sweden ❤❤❤❤❤
I learned this song from an episode of the Australian series, "Round the Twist". This song makes me cry.
Omg I forgot about Round the twist. I used to love that show, peace from UK ✌️
I loved this song from the first time I heard it over 60 years ago ❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸
I am so very relaxing this song i love the melody
If only to have felt such a love from a woman, but once in a lifetime.... what a song.
Lol it's a fathers song for his son, this just happens to be a rendition by a female vocalist
