    Pocahontas has dolls of Nakoma and Kocoum. They are in the color changing line made by Mattel in the 90's. I know because she is my favorite, and the dolls are amazing!

      Actually I see quite a bit of Pocahontas merch outside of the Disney store. While she unfortunately is one of the less popular princesses, she’s still popular enough that she’s franchised. Even in say puzzles that don’t include every Disney animated movie, a lot of times I see her and John Smith in the bigger areas.
      I do agree if she wasn’t based on a real person who sadly suffered a living hell from the English, I believe she’d be a lot more popular. It stumps me everyone praises Mulan for ending a war, but no one ever remembers Pocahontas preventing one by refusing to let John Smith die, or at least by himself

    I feel you may have misjudged jasmine and merida. Wouldnt you be pissy too if you were forced to get married at 16 knowing ur freedom would be entirely out of the question? I think we would all react that way hahah

      The were raised to accept those things. They seem more like modern characters thrown into those movies. It feels very disconnected from the story.

    I've gotta disagree with Snow White's placement. I really, really love her. She's incredibly charming, it's impossible to not adore her. She's also very brave, and which makes her a great role model. She perseveres and lives her life against the Queen's wishes, knowing FULL WELL that she may be killed, and takes care of the dwarves on top of that. She's truly lovely and I'll stand by this sentiment for the rest of my life.

      Agreed! Snow White was made at a time when society had a low morale, The Great Depression was going on and World War 2 would be beginning. Walt Disney made Snow White for people to remain optimistic to show that good things would happen. Snow White has many unfortunate events happen, her father is dead, her stepmother (only family left) wants to kill her, she's forced to run away but she still remains optimistic that the best is yet to come (which does in the end)

      Yeah. Anna literally saved her sister and her kingdom TWICE, but everyone forgets about that because all the attention goes to Elsa. Although I love Elsa, I'm very sick of it, and I actually love Anna more than Elsa because she had so much character development in the original Frozen movie and in the sequel.

      So true, everyone always gives the attention to elsa because she's the one with powers which I'm not saying that it's not cool but if it weren't for Anna elsa would still be frozen in place and on top of that helped elsa understand her powers help people so like. 😑

    Respectable list, good sir. Ariel is an excellent number 1. Here's my list:
    15. Aurora, indeed the sleeping beauty is beautiful, elegant, n has a heavenly opera voice, unfortunately she has little agency in her own story n personality.
    14. Anna, a spunky n cute go getter but most of the other princesses that have come before her have these traits checked off too.
    13. Moana, a real cookie cutter of a modern disney princess, she is pretty much just an ethic variation of Anna but is ahead one spot bcuz it's always nice to see some more ethnic diversity in the lineup.
    12. Merida, though she can come off as a bit bratty, this ruff n tumble princess' sheer determination to change her fate demands to be appreciated.
    11. Elena, unknown to the general social conciousness n unrecognized as an official Disney Princess, this Hispanic princess is a neccessary addition as she not only offers additional cultural flavor, but also bcuz she is bold, daring, n admits to her own faults, quick to b humbled to find the inner fortitude to improve on herself for the sake of her kingdom of Avalor.
    10. Snow White, she may b a bit outdated but her endearing charms, enduring optimism n enchanting innocence makes her precious n unforgettable.
    9. Pocahontas, a spiritual n passionate dreamer who struggles between being loyal to her people n herself but she manages to find the wisdom to understand n honor both.
    8. Rapunzel, quirky, multi-talented, and armed wit an infectious exuberance for life, this lost princess stays convicted to her promises n plans n never loses sight of what is right.
    7. Tiana, an industrious n diligent young woman who isnt the least bit intimidated of hardwork. Independent n practical, she does need to b reminded to stop n smell the roses, but that's how dedicated she can be to achieving her dreams.
    6. Elsa, while she does exhibit exceptional intelligence and grace, she does burden herself wit crippling selfdoubt, something I feel is very tangible for most of us if not all, but she does find the strength to let that selfdoubt go n become someone much more confident n inspirational.
    5. Mulan, a clumsy but generous n resourceful maiden who wishes to b true to herself. She holds her community in high regard, esp her family, so much so that she will put the needs of others b4 herself, even if it means going head first into war.
    4. Cinderella, though she lives an unjust life, the high levels of resiliency, grace, n healthy sprinkling of pluck she manages to maintain against all the hardships is impressive. She reminds us that there is a light at the end of the dark tunnel, just as long as u can keep that light burning bright from within.
    3. Jasmine, as fierce as she is beautiful, this fiery princess seems to b perfectly aware of her own prowess as she refuses to be a prized possession to b kept hidden away from the world. She is a fast learner n quick to improvise with her feminine charms n timeless wits in any sticky situation.
    2. Ariel, an adventurous mermaid who knows exactly what she wants n how to get it, even if it means making a deal wit a devil. She isnt perfect, n who is at the age of 16, but damn if her part of that world segment doesnt just ignite the soul.
    1. Belle, a true beauty beyond the superficial, this french maiden seems unphased wit her outer appearance as she concentrates on the innerworkings of books, supporting her father's work, n is not shy to speak her mind. Curious of what the world can offer beyond the superficial roles we r conditioned to accept, she is brave enough to walk down a dark, gothic hallway to either save a loved one or quench her inquisitive mind.

      Elena isn’t officially a Disney princess (although neither and Elsa and Anna with their own merchandise and being Queens). But this year Encanto is coming out in November and it’s lead Mirabel is going to be a Disney princess. Her movie is a musical and set in Columbia and she apparently lacks magic powers rest of her family has (which might change by the end of the movie...). And there are rumours it’s set in present day which would be new for Disney but I don’t know if I like that. Even Princess and the Frog seemed too modern, but I think musicals don’t have to just be set in last, Disney used to have music in nearly all of their movies.
      But Mirabel getting into the lineup probably will make Elana less prominent since she is from tv (I don’t see much Sofia merchandise either anymore). Elena seems however the more typical “princess” type, although it’s nice to see them doing new things, I agree Anna and Moana being cookie cutter. Mirabel apparently is comedienne type, hopefully they will emphasise that.

    Wow. i was not expecting to see my girl Belle so low down on your list!
    My list
    14. Aurora. Aurora is beautiful but spends most of her time asleep so she doesn't get much time to shine.
    13. Snow. As the first disney princess, she cannot take the last slot but she unforunetly has a lackluster personality.
    12. Merida
    11. Mulan. *ducks* Is she a hero and a good role model? Absolutely. Is she a princess? NO!
    10. Cinderella.
    9. Pocahontas
    8. Tiana.
    7. Anna.
    6. Elsa.
    5. Moana.
    4. Rapunzel.
    3. Jasmine.
    =1. Ariel and Belle. I can't decide between them. They are my childhood and hold alot of nostalgia. I resignate with Ariels curiousity and want to see the world. Also she's a mermaid. Who doesn't want to be a mermaid? Then we have Belle, supporting her father and unafraid to be herself despite what others think. She not only takes her fathers place in Beasts castle but stands up to him too.
    I'm not sure where I'd place Raya probably in the second half of the top 10.
    Honestly 3-5 and 6-9 are interchangable for me. I love my top 5 and I think 6-9 are all good runner ups.

    Okay I just got to say this about Ariel the reason why she acted the way she did with Melody in the second Little mermaid movie was because she was a parent. So the reason why she went against everything she believed in when she was a teenager was because she finally had a daughter and her daughter was her responsibility. So the thing is is that just like when King Triton's wife got killed because of humans was also his motivation for Ariel not to go up to the surface because he knew that humans were dangerous because he lost somebody. Ariel had the same motivation for Melody not to go out into the sea because Melanie almost got eaten by a shark when she was a baby so because Ariel almost lost her one and only daughter she had to protect Melanie some kind of way even though she was keeping not only Melody from the sea but also herself from the thing she loved and knew of.

  • @everbooked
    @everbooked ปีที่แล้ว

    I simply don't understand why people hate on Ariel so much. yes she can be impulsive but that doesn't mean she's stupid, Ariel is similar to Belle. they're both learners and curious- but impulsive. One gets shamed for her Impulsivenes because people think she's lovesick and one doesn't get shamed because she reads books so technically she's stereotyped as smart. Mind you, Ariel was in a terrible state when she made the deal with Ursula. imagine your father takes away something you cherish the most, a collection you've been building up for ages. She couldn't think straight when she made the deal because she was anxious and anxiety often makes your mind go blank. her dreams were shattered, her precious collection in ruins, and a family who doesn't and never will understand her. it's a sense of hopelessness. a part of her saying that she has nothing to lose.
    it's quite similar with Belle entering the West Wing. her curiosity got the better of her, she went in and broke rules without thinking of the consequences. Her captor is a beast, he might have had a dangerous secret he doesn't want anyone to know and if Belle does, the possibility of him killing or even eating her is high especially because Belle doesn't even know him yet, she just knows him as a beast. a ruthless animal. The beast could also be in the West Wing, which he is, so she hasn't thought of being caught either. But this Impulsivenes, I believe also comes with the feeling of hopelessness because she lost her father, her dreams, everything. what more can she lose if she satisfies her lingering curiosity?
    both Ariel and belle are popular characters. but one gets hated on and that's not fair especially because they're more similar than you'd think. Ariel is a lively explorer with flaws and a realistic teenage mind. people shouldn't expect princesses to be perfect because good characters have flaws, and Ariel isn't just a picture perfect princess like Aurora, she's a rebel. People should respect her for that.

    i love Pocahontas as a princess and sperate character but i just cant get behind the fact that disney changed such a horrible story to fit what they wanted, i think having nativew american rep is very important but now the general public only knows disney's story and not the true story

    • @nathanwaters8586
      @nathanwaters8586 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. I think Disney should make a new movie about a girl from a Native American tribe. So that rep isn’t lost and is instead replaced with a story seperate from the real matoaka

    • @kristinahuchison2511
      @kristinahuchison2511 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pocahontas is my favorite princess! I don’t dislike her movie one bit but I do agree that Disney shouldn’t have used actual names just to make it clear it wasn’t meant to be a retelling of Matoaka. The reason I continue to defend it is because sadly world history is filled with violence, it wasn’t just Native Americans who suffered. Disney is literally set in a more idealistic setting. I’d rather be in love with a fairytale version of two characters who knew they were supposed to hate each other because they came from completely different worlds, but it was because of their differences why they fell in love with each other. Just a side note but take a look at Heracles (Hercules is Roman) and you’ll see how f*cked the Disney version is (especially with Zeus and Hera) I think making John Smith a blonde blue eyed ladykiller and a talking tree should’ve made it obvious Disney was doing their own thing. Also did you know Disney actually wasn’t the first to romanticize Pocahontas and John Smith: Popeye Wigwam Whoopee?

    • @kristinahuchison2511
      @kristinahuchison2511 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nathanwaters8586 actually Nita from Brother Bear 2 is a Native American princess (chief’s daughter) though I know a lot of people hated the sequel. I do agree that Pocahontas isn’t a very good representation for Indigenous audiences, despite I love her so much. I know a lot of people have admitted to me if the movie wasn’t based on a very dark and horrific story, they’d like Pocahontas as a movie and characters a lot more.

  • @kristinahuchison2511
    @kristinahuchison2511 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I agree with Pocahontas. I truly feel if her movie wasn’t very loosely based on a real woman, she’d be more popular. I always thought she was fairly popular because I see a lot of Disney merch for her. I heard Disney planned on doing a live Pocahontas, but I heard lately they chose not to, so who knows. I honestly don’t want a live UNLESS its the ‘95 story by DISNEY. Its kinda hard to believe Disney didn’t think romanticizing Pocahontas and John Smith wasn’t a risky move, considering how Indigenous people were portrayed for a long time in old fashioned cartoons. Did you know Disney actually wasn’t the first to romanticize them: Popeye Wigwam Whoopee. I seriously wouldn’t have put Ariel in 1. I truly think the only reason she’s so popular is because she’s a mermaid, that’s it. Mine goes:
    1 Pocahontas and Rapunzel
    2 Kida (yes I know)
    3 Tiana
    4 Raya
    5 Mulan
    6 Jasmine
    7 Moana
    8 Belle
    9 Ariel
    10 Cinderella
    11 Aurora
    12 Snow White
    13 Elsa
    14 Anna
    With Elsa and Anna, they’re not even official Disney princesses because of how overrated they are. I like Elsa more as I find Anna the dumber version of Rapunzel, and she’s kinda annoying in the sequel
    *Also, I don’t get why everyone loves Ariel because she was so curious and passionate about learning about a world that literally killed her mother. Legit she doesn’t really even get to know much about Eric aside he’s a prince that’s kind and compassionate and just rolls with her quirky personality. BUT Pocahontas gets hated on for wanting to learn more about another culture’s way of life and falling for John Smith because of how different he was in so many ways. Like in the end she even gives up the golden opportunity to make her dreams a reality by deciding her tribe’s well being is more important than getting to be with John Smith and seeing London. And she even pleaded him to return without her for his own good, instead of accepting him willing to die in her land so he could be with her forever.

    Ariel os my top fav too! I love her red hair and her spunk and nack to learn and do more. The secpnd movie was kind of a flop but i love it despite others hate. I find it funny that ariel in the second movie didnt realize she was being like her dad which she fought against but i love it for the simple fact she is the only princess in cannon to have a child. You know they say happly ever after comes children and i love that. Its fun y how in Cinderella the king wanted the prince to marry so he could have grandkids and in 2 sequels they never did lol

    Also Cinderella fights back what do I mean by she fights back she like acknowledges that this isn't fair and that her mother is a crazy abusive woman I do to let everyone kick her around like she's a test dubbing because that is not good or okay letting your abuser get what they want is not good also Cinderella I'm going to like a twist in time she realized that she shouldn't just ignore what is happening to her because if she ignores it it's just going to keep on happening and she's just going to eventually die a sad and miserable life

    Kaley Elsa is a princess by age but by the fact that her parents are dead she's a queen

    As a child I disliked the Disney sequels (even though I watched them all and liked some) for cheapening the Disney brand but in hindsight they did give more depth to some characters (Kida expecially, I wish she was in the Princess line based on her sequel). But I am still glad Snow White didn’t get one, and I hope she never gets life-action movie either, as the first one she is more “pure”.
    I wish Merida wasn’t in the Princess line since she is a Pixar character but Wreck It-Ralph 2 has practically canonized the lineup so I doubt they will change it again (unless they make so many princess characters they start to divide it somehow). And in general Merida is unlikable character who isn’t that interesting, she is meant to have character arc certainly and I like often flawed characters but she just doesn’t have anything else that’s unique or interesting.
    Anna and Moana are characters who I don’t dislike at all but they don’t have that much unique appeal that I do agree on their placements. Raya for example has more deep issues of guilt and trust and has quirky quips that make her stand out a bit more.
    Pocahontas is my favorite (Elsa second, then Mulan, Belle, Rapunzel, Raya, Ariel Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Moana, Anna, Jasmine, but only the top is unchanging, I always think differently for the rest and if this was looks or just childhood based it would be different). I wish people could separate more real history and the movie. She is the one with the agency in the movie so it’s not it’s the case of Dancing with Wolves or something. She is the first Disney Princess (and maybe character?) to have a friend in Nakoma, is so adventurous and cares about environment and curious and brave person. I don’t know why anyone would not consider her a great role model when watching the movie.

    I feel like anna kinda showed more bravery in the second movie. however, she's also arrogant in the first movie, soooo idk really where to rank her. I would say that Tiana is my favorite in the fact that even though that she's goes through really hard circumstances like working to jobs and being turned into a frog she still continues to go after her dream restaurant. though i didn't much care for the Raya movie. It wasn't my kind of movie i guess.

    I’d insert myself in the Rapunzel movie and imagine we were twins. I’d have like long black hair n’ sh!t. Anyway, yeah.

    Yes, Ariel is the best. Though I think Raya is the worst because she did not sing and was very pessimistic.

    You are not just placed Ariel on 1 place. That is anything but objective. It's you're ranking but that just a lie. At least you could said that she ypurr number one and that's why you did that. Like girl literally did suicide over a men come on

    Well for me, Raya should not be the only new disney princess, Namari deserves to be a disney princess as well because SPOILER ALERT Namarri helped destroy the duruns for good and RAYA and NAMARI become comrades and friends in the end, and Namari being a secondary character is not a big deal, bwcause Jasmine is also a secondary character in Aladdin but Jasmine becomes a disney princess despite Jasmine being a secondary character

      Namaari was the reason why the gem got destroyed in the first place and she killed Sisu (and she really was to blame no matter what she said). She did redeem herself by fixing issues enough for the movie, not enough for the princess line.
