I tried the 87 oct stage 1 which is equivalent with the Apr plus tune on my wife’s new Tiguan. It was very mild and not a huge change. I opted for stage 1 93oct and the Tiguan feels substantially better. I will do 5k intervals for oil. Very pleased.
An insurance law needs to be introduced that requires the insurance company to pay back at least 50% of the entire premiums paid if a claim is never filed over the term of the policy for each year. What better way to promote safer driving than money back in your pocket?
If you buy a new car and sign up within 90 days, for $27 a month you can get geico breakdown insurance. This covers everything on your car from brakes to engine/trans. If something goes out they will have it fixed at the dealer for a $250 deductible. You can keep this on your car for up to 7 years. I do this for all my cars.
Excellent and informative video. It’s now March 2018 and I’ve begun discussions with our local VW dealership management to consider providing the APR Plus purchase options in the future,: 1) optional with a new car purchase, and 2) as a upgrade option for existing MK7 and MK 7.5 owners 😎
APR must have updated there literature since the launch of this video because in the APR+ tune description it now says you can pair this with an inlet, intake, IC, piping and catback exhaust, pretty much everything except a downpipe for added power. Even their power power figures are up, last I checked it was around 320whp / 355wtq for the MK7/7.5 Golf R.
To clarify as someone intimately aware of the Stasis debacle, warranty claims had little if anything to do with their bankruptcy. The acquisition of REVO probably was the biggest factor. I have seen dyno graphs from APR showing stage I high torque tunes adding close to 80hp. Not sure where the low HP numbers come from, although there are also milder versions available.
Was going to get apr plus for my mk7 gti but... Was also goin to stop watching the rest of this video and shower so I wasn't late for work but I'm real glad I caught that last part where they void the warranty if you add on inter coolers etc
Just saw this video, and I think things have changed regarding the warranty covering the software tune only and not any physical mods. From their site, for the Golf R at least: "Oh, and you want even more power, APR Plus is fully compatible with our linup of Stage 1 compatible performance parts, such as the APR DSG/S Tronic TCU Upgrade, APR Intake, APR Turbo Inlet Pipe, APR Turbo Muffler Delete, APR Intercooler, APR Boost Hoses, APR Catch Can, APR Boost Tap and more as found on goapr.com."
Great video. Wished there was a vlog like this for the Audis! Really debating on doing the APR stage 1 on my 16 S6, but have a lot of angst on nullifying my CARMAX warranty and the chance of blowing my turbos. Hate to have a $45k paperweight in my garage...
I just bought a 2021 GTI. I'm very much interested in squeezing some more power out of it through tuning. I heard APR was great and was very intrigued by the warranty coverage. I did not know it was a financed software. This decision has already squeezed my budget significantly. And the potential for a dealership voiding other warranties is also concerning. It seems like it might be best to just go with an accessport and hope nothing else besides powertrain is voided. Thank you for the great information.
One technician from one side showing the real flaws of the other side in simple terms that we can all understand and relate to. Thank you so much Paul for doing this. If Paul had not done this research for us, we either would have not known about this, or we would have learned from a disgruntled Apr + user about the shitiness. By which time apr+ will already have our money, and may have moved to a different twist of their policy. So once again Paul, thank you for this early warning. However, as you may all know how progress works, we now need someone like Paul in Apr+ to make a similar presentation about unitronics. That's the only way that we the common consumers can be empowered(assuming apr+ and unitronics don't collude). You have to always here both sides of a debate. I can guarantee you that every side tells you only what they want you to know. It's human nature. Hence the need for checks and balances.
My GTI MK7 2016 APR STAGE 1 High Output 91 Oct = Blown turbo Again APR STAGE 1 High output 91 Oct = Blown turbo Now is APR STAGE 1 Low Output 91 Oct everything O.K but I want go for UNI stage 2 91 Oct

Law says that the dealership must prove that the aftermarket part has specifically caused the particular issue. This is to prevent this type of thing. Legally, you can push back against your dealership, although that in itself will cost money.
This video is out of date they change alot their condition and price and tune. Consider looking at their website for changes because i was suprised its not the same as the video ! Look out people
Great job . And bout time VW and APR team up and retaining a factory warranty with additional power upgrade. Not much power , but it's a good start to a beginning. Wish they covered my mk7 golf r stage 3 + lol not anytime soon but..... works well for me and it's reliable. Not my 1st heavily modded Volkwagen may I add with Apr and other after market Company's 👍 great job Paul as always .. cheers ❗
They, as in APR, totally did this because of the Cobb Accessport release and trying to market flash in another way. Eurodyne and UM are others that's been nipping at their heels too.
Has nothing to do with any of that. Has to do with offering a very specific product that the market has asked for. They are buying a new car, want a bit more power but don't want to drive around withthe potential of no warranty coverage. It's clearly not meant to be for everyone but those options have always been around anyway. It's just filling a void for a specific buyer.
Jamie Harvey JB1 or JB4 tuning box is undetectable. Had it on my BMW no problems for 4 years. My broinlaw 10++years Master BMW Diagnostic tech could do not detect it on the car or off the car. Meaning jusy for visual safety everytime before going in for service take off or if you break something on the side of the road take it off and have towed to dealer. No reason to pay $3k for a shitty watered down tune. There is a market already for not TD1'ing your VW it's called JB1, Neuspeed tuning box etc for under $600. There are no black recording boxes to see history of what may or may not have caused the issues on these cars. 9.9999 out of 10 time something fails it's not your tune or aftermarket parts it's a random defective OEM manufactured part that was bound to fail soon and be glad it happened under your short warranty.. TLDR Don't want a headache of possible TD1? Go undetectable with JB1/JB4 or other tuning boxes like it for under $600 for more power don't pay for a price gouging $2800 BS tune from the Comcast of euro car tuners. Literally APR and VWoA is Ebola right now.
iNeedMorePSi hate on the option all you want. It still is an option that is now available for those that prefer it. Some people don't want to fuss with removing hardware every time they need the car to go to the dealer. If they forget and it's found to be on the car by a tech, TD1 can still be triggered manually. There is nothing wrong with more options on the market. If it's not for you, simply don't buy it.
Jamie Harvey nope it's BS, the fine print and restrictions are too and I have a raging hard on right now to educate others and hope for failure to be quite honest. Cut the price in half, allow intakes and exhaust at least. Then it's OK. Also the 2 VW dealers around me who are APR dealers among other brands, if they do this I will cease to do business with them for cars or parts and I've bought over 150k of cars from them over the time and that's not including parts. They never had issues supporting modifications and dealing with VWoA for their customers.
Paul- you mention a lot about bringing tuned cars to mod friendly dealers, but I'm confused. If VW corporate gives the same software detection program to all dealers, and standard procedure for techs when diagnosing problems is to plug in and read the ECU, doesn't the dealer computer flag the car TD1 in the database regardless of if the dealer wants to overlook your tune or not? And I'm assuming warranty work will then look at the database to see if it's been flagged? Or do mod friendly dealer techs break from procedure and not scan it when diagnosing if they can help it? Trying to understand how "mod friendly" dealers get away with getting reimbursed for warranty work on tuned vehicles
Hi, I just got my new golf R 2018. Only did 2000 km so far, but I'm so in love with APR and I'm considering installing it on my car but I have major concerns if you will be kind to answer me; 1- Does it reduces life expectancy on the engine/ car? 2- Does it effect fuel economy? 3- For a daily driver car, would you recommend a tune or stock? 4- Can I still service the car at the dealership, I know the warranty will be voided only concerned about the service given that golfs have no history issues and they're very reliable? 5- Only repeating the first question about milage and life expectancy for the car, also when would be the ideal time to install the tune?
You can blow up your turbo, you WILL burn up your manual clutch or DSG clutches unless you buy a heavy duty manual clutch or DSG clutchpack. You can get a DSG tune but with enough power and time you'll still burn out the stock ones.
According to precedent in court rulings, it is incumbent upon the purveyors of the warranty to PROVE that a failure is caused by an aftermarket part or software. A simple test will be whether it is reasonable to assume that the failure would not have occured without the aftermarket part or software. For instance, if your turbos grenaded because the oil pump failed or that the engine overheated because the radiator leaked. Is it reasonable to assume that if there was no aftermarket tune or intake filter that the failed oil pump or radiator would not then have caused the failure. If not, then it MUST be covered under the terms of the contract. -- The problem of course is that you'll have to drag them to court. The cost itself may not be worth it. Also, you contract may stipulate arbitration before you can sue. In any case, most owners are stuck with the decision of the warranty provided because they won;t find it worthwhile to take legal action. And, when you do have a customer determined enough or vindictive enough to go to court, they will frequently settle the case to avoid far reaching consequences of a ruling.
So...I should just get their regular stage 1 tune if I'm looking to flash my ECU because this warranty is basically not for the car enthusiast and I don't get much increase in HP with APR Plus...Or just go straight to Unitronic for a tune...
So to what I'm understanding here, the APR + has the same numbers as Unitronic Stage 1 tune, and APR would only cover your ass for the APR+ tune, not their stage 123..100 tunes, that means, APR + is the safest, most friendly option to your lil EA888 3rd gen, which means, Unitronic tunes are more conservative than APRs. So, go with Unitronic if you couldn't care less about that 10-15 extra herspers.
Rodolfo Morales if something isn't right about the software they will send an update to the app on your phone and that will fix the problem. If you also want more power they will also send you more power !
i think the racechip do same problems like the neuspeed chip, i think they use the power of the sensors to work and maybe this is bad for the tcu to work properly but is just my opinion about it based on my experience
I wasn't going to comment becasue I see it's a year later, but I see there are still people saying how informational this was just a few weeks ago....... What I would like to know is where you're getting your info from??? Because APR Plus on a (2017) MK7 Golf R is $1,199... not $2,399!!! Power gains are... HP from 292 to 357 (65hp increase) and Torque from 280 to 349 (69 lb-ft torque increase). I will be getting APR Plus on my basic 2017 MK7 Golf S 1.8t this week, and like the fact that it has a warranty. I understand that it's not for everyone, and that's fine. Now even on my little Golf (1.8t motor) hp goes from 170 to 234 (64 increase) and torque from 199 to 273 (74 increase). Im paying an extra $400 to have the warranty. Those numbers are also the same numbers as APR Stage 1 on 87 octane. Now once I have APR Plus/Stage 1, it will only cost me $149 to upgrade to Stage 2 because of being a "loyal customer". Which APR Stage 2 will now put me at 246hp and 275 lb-ft torque, all on a 87 octane tune. You can get up to 247hp and 301 torque on a 93 octane tune. You guys seem like a reputable company and have really good reviews, so I dont want to bash you guys. But these numbers you pulled to show for APR are wrong (according to APR's website)!
I was shocked when he presented the APR Plus increases where is said the HP gain was 292->320. I wouldn’t pay $1200 for that. Thankfully, the current APR Plus tuning is 292->357 HP. That is much more reasonable for $1200 in my opinion!!!
Right!? Plus the power train warranty is clutch. A performance shop near me is apr plus licensed and does all the warranty work so this is a huge plus.
Good info. I am not sure such a "small" bump is worth the money. The sad truth though is dealers and VW will do anything they can to get out of warranty work.
@@peteredson916 I remember talking to people at my local dealership about the MK7 Golf R before it came out. They are limited as to how many cars they can get apparently and the one they got sold before it even arrived. Which was a bummer cause I wanted to test drive one just for fun. But they did let me test drive a STI and a APR tuned MK6 Golf R.
But dyno reports have come out showing intakes an exhaust dont really give major boosts in hp..mostly just added noise... money grab? Your thoughts on this?
Seeing those numbers makes me think this is a cash play on APR's end to help them pay back the debts that they have accumulated over the years. Given my nightmare experience as a Stage 3+ customer of theirs, I wouldn't want anything to do with it
interesting concept. Warranties stress me out, would much rather have no warranty and be responsible for fixing things myself. Although chances are I won't be getting a mk 7 until they're 20 years old
so if there tunes require downpipe how would they be able to give a warranty when they say not to do any other mods after they say their tune needs that to run
It now has more power so yes this is something I will definitely consider when my power train warranty is up. Especially since I chance my oil every 5k in the first place.
Now it's 1,099. Which is essentially the normal price of the tune + money that goes towards shoring up a reserve that is used to pay for issues that occur while under the APR+ warranty.
Do you think unitronic will do something like this in the future, but instead of just software make the warranty among all their hardware products? (provided its put on in an approved facility) as well as find a way to dispute claims instead of blaming everything on tuning, which is what sunk stasis
Do you guys or do you know of anyone that does vlogs for tdi's? Great videos. Next car will probably be a mk7 gti lol but just looking for something for my mk6 tdi. Thank you! #askdap
It's the right idea but the execution is too limited. The fact I can't even choose other components from the APR catalog and still retain their aftermarket warranty is a huge issue. But the worst part is the price tag with such minimal power gains. I also wonder if the warranty is incompatible with APR's TCU software for DSG cars or other vendor options.
incorrect, just don't install the APR Downpipe.....this video is 2 years old, I have the '19' Golf R.....72k mile coverage and the APR+ software w/TCU software...insurance/warranty is not voided with APR Catback or Valveless add, just don't add the downpipe. I like the fact my VW Dealer is an Authorized APR Dealer
No. No matter what you do it is impossible to reset the flash counter on the new models. The computer regardless will flag your car with a TD1 error. Even on a piggy back where there is no flashing involved, it will store parameters showing more boost pressure and fuel mixture operating outside normal parameters. They're making it impossible to tune these cars without getting in trouble.
Jason Rothman remove the JB4 and erase the codes (if there are any), and you’ll be fine. The piggyback isn’t flashing the ECU, so the flash counter isn’t moved. Also since it’s a piggyback, the higher boost levels never get to the ecu, so Boost levels never exceed stock levels.
Jack hey bud I had a jb4 along with a few of my buddies. We were always having issues with them. I would save for a proper tune from stratified, apr, united motor sports...etc If you have a local euro shop I’d check with them!
just a few things: test drove a base GTI S DSG with this software just yesterday at the dealership and it's pretty amazing. I really liked the power band...I can see why some risk adverse customers like myself might shell out the money for this. the dealer quoted me $1500 for this software add. so basically 1/2 the power of normal stage 1 for 2x the cost. they really have you by the balls with the warranty thing. I ended up walking out the door with a brand new Sport GTI without the APR+... had I watched this video beforehand I might have done it. does anyone know if this tune will get more power on a Sport/PP than a normal 210hp GTI?
elgruffo: the stage 1 APR tune brings all GTI's to approximately the same total power. You actually get more power gain from the non pp MK7. The horsepower gain on the pp is from an ecu tweak. The reason to get the pp is the better differential.
My dealership installed APR stage 1 software on a 2yr old CPO MK5 GTI. They said as long as it was serviced there they would honor the remaining factory + CPO warranty. I think the law puts the onus of proof on the manufacturer/dealer to prove that a modded part voids the warranty (at least that used to be the case).
+kingjaf I'm sorry to say unless you got that in writing it's not going to be a guarantee. In regards to the burden of proof you are talking about Magnusson Moss. Which is not what people think it is. Take a look here we talked all about it th-cam.com/video/wW25ZxVPqxg/w-d-xo.html
I'm new to this VW mk7 thing, if there's any software out there that can be totally removed before you bring the vehicle to a dealership for any repair under warranty??
Only thing that works is JB4 from what I know if you flash your ECU it doesn't matter if you flash it back there is information that can be traced. So stuff like the Cobb AP which stores your original ECU flash when you marry it to your car doesn't prevent you from being caught. It's really best to talk to your dealership first and clear it with them. If they aren't interested then maybe drive a little farther and talk to a different dealership.
For your direct price-per-unit-of-power comparison, it might be more useful to directly compare it to APR stage one instead of Unitronic stage one. Although I understand why you framed the comparison this way. *wink wink, nudge nudge*
Yeah, who tunes a car and then only drives it 30 mph to church and back Sundays? I've heard APR is a more aggressive tune than some of the others and stresses the engine more... but that's hearsay, so maybe you can define that for us?
Why are you giving those numbers ? I was just on APR website and they're giving theses numbers for a golf R APR plus from 292hp to 357 hp thats 65 more hp and 280lb-ft to 349lb-ft of torque thats 69lb-ft those are completely different to the numbers you posted in your video please explain, also you can buy the package for $1,199.00
Paul Macdonnell, APR has updated several times since this video was released. The ecu updates are included in the initial cost. The numbers have gone up another 25hp since I got my MK7 GTI less than 2 years ago. Cheap horsepower!
Are you really saying $35/mo on top of your financed car payments? Over a 3 year car loan that's almost $1300 before interest... You'd have to be stupid to choose this over a JB1, which has twice the power increase for $380, is undetectable via the ECU and can be installed/uninstalled in 20 minutes.

their argument will be that there's a price to the peace of mind you have while driving the car that your car is covered IF something happens.
In Saskatchewan, the insurance is run by the government and if there's a surplus they pay people back.
so much love for you guys. you're a huge benefit to us VW people. great insight

You did an excellent job balancing what you thought some might think. Thank you.
Looks like APR has updated this program. Maybe we could get an updated video on this as well.
Whelp, at least I now know why I haven't heard anything about Stasis Engineering these past few years.
It costs 699 for apr+ tune. I called a VW dealership in Denver for confirmation. They also are open to intake and intercooler additions.
+Sipho tchala it's likely they quoted you for a standard tune. According to the APR plus site they still only list as a monthly payment.
To clarify as someone intimately aware of the Stasis debacle, warranty claims had little if anything to do with their bankruptcy. The acquisition of REVO probably was the biggest factor.

I will have to ask my dealership since I know they have outright put APR tuned cars up for sale.
Great video I appreciate your professionalism.
my dealership told me wait till I get to 35 thousand miles I drive a 2016 Autobahn Edition I want more than 235 horsepower
So does a APR tune end the entire VW warranty or just the powertrain as this is all the APR + is replacing?
$35 and $40/mo??? Are you saying this is all subscription based now? Like what if I buy the car outright and I want to buy the upgrade outright?
What if you have a used car extended warranty?

5- Only repeating the first question about milage and life expectancy for the car, also when would be the ideal time to install the tune?
d7mn 1-yes
2-yes
3-stock
4-no
5-when the warranty wares off (after 5 years)
You can blow up your turbo, you WILL burn up your manual clutch or DSG clutches unless you buy a heavy duty manual clutch or DSG clutchpack. You can get a DSG tune but with enough power and time you'll still burn out the stock ones.
I compared APR pluse vs unitronic stage 1 plus tune. APR 1200 dollars. Unitronic 700.

The problem of course is that you'll have to drag them to court.
Hello Paul, Great video...excellent informative material!
So...I should just get their regular stage 1 tune if I'm looking to flash my ECU because this warranty is basically not for the car enthusiast and I don't get much increase in HP with APR Plus...Or just go straight to Unitronic for a tune...
Andre Pereira which did you decide?
Great video - you came across very impartial 👍
So to what I'm understanding here, the APR + has the same numbers as Unitronic Stage 1 tune, and APR would only cover your ass for the APR+ tune, not their stage 123..100 tunes, that means, APR + is the safest, most friendly option to your lil EA888 3rd gen, which means, Unitronic tunes are more conservative than APRs. So, go with Unitronic if you couldn't care less about that 10-15 extra herspers.
I have a RaceChip in my 2017 GTI and it gives me 60 hp and 100 torque I believe and it comes with engine warranty
Lee Smith where did you get this? :)
SuperNova0216 I got it from RaceChip.de or try .com. If you have any issues comment
i remeove the race chip in all audis and vw with dsg trans because make some crazy things and for sure unitronic or apr is a lot better
Neil Porter yea I've noticed this. I avoid dealerships because I feel they are only there to get out of warranty
Very sad to see how slow the dealerships are when I've asked and if you look...very well stocked! I'm under the impression things aren't so well
totally true
My dealer offered to sell and install a Neuspeed power module. So... that’s something I guess 🤷🏻♂️
Does apr plus also cover extended warranty from the dealer?
So i can go to a vw dealership and ask for a tune and could get it?
But dyno reports have come out showing intakes an exhaust dont really give major boosts in hp..mostly just added noise... money grab? Your thoughts on this?
Is the OEM+ that VWR has been advertising?
Why aren't these ecu tuning parts shipped to you?
Hi Paul...what is the wheel on the Revo stand behind you?
Matthew Larson Revo RV019

Thanks!!!

Seeing those numbers makes me think this is a cash play on APR's end to help them pay back the debts that they have accumulated over the years. Given my nightmare experience as a Stage 3+ customer of theirs, I wouldn't want anything to do with it
So APR plus is kind of like renntech for mercedes and Dinan for BMW?
interesting concept. Warranties stress me out, would much rather have no warranty and be responsible for fixing things myself. Although chances are I won't be getting a mk 7 until they're 20 years old
Badgertronix any particular reason why you wouldn't get an mk7?
SuperNova0216 I'll get one when they fall into my sub $1000 budget... like my current project car
What if the "other" modding parts we add are in fact APR products, such as a cold air intake? Does this still void the APR tuning warranty?
so if there tunes require downpipe how would they be able to give a warranty when they say not to do any other mods after they say their tune needs that to run
why not use a piggy back insted then? if theres a problem u just take it off no?
Damn, this was very informative. Great video!👍🏿
I think this is pretty good when your factory warranty runs out. You buy a ARP plus 5 more years of warranty again with 50hp Boom!
Allen An it would probably be prorated on how old the car is or they will put a how old the car can be.
@@TheDustyaman Nope age is not a limitation just went over the terms.
It now has more power so yes this is something I will definitely consider when my power train warranty is up. Especially since I chance my oil every 5k in the first place.
Holy Cow!!!! $2400 for a (VW/Audi) software tune! That's nuts, warranty or not.
Now it's 1,099. Which is essentially the normal price of the tune + money that goes towards shoring up a reserve that is used to pay for issues that occur while under the APR+ warranty.
Very informative video.
But is it California legal?
Does unitronics give you credit for switching tuners ? Say from apr stage 1 & dsg to uni stage 2+ & dsg ?
Do you think unitronic will do something like this in the future, but instead of just software make the warranty among all their hardware products? (provided its put on in an approved facility) as well as find a way to dispute claims instead of blaming everything on tuning, which is what sunk stasis
+hllboi817 doubtful
can you talk about the Cobb software?
Too good to be true
Love the videos. Thanks for the info.
Anything longer than 24 months, and it's cheaper to buy a spare IS20 and keep it on the shelf just in case!
Very insightful
Do you guys or do you know of anyone that does vlogs for tdi's? Great videos. Next car will probably be a mk7 gti lol but just looking for something for my mk6 tdi. Thank you! #askdap
ig @vori.tdi
great video. Great info!
Always wait to mod until your warranty is up. unless its just bolt-ons. At least that been my rule of thumb.
Anyone do the APR Plus tune w a 1.8T Passat R-Line? Interested in knowing other people's experiences w it.
They don't offer this in my area
Question for APR Tuning After i shut down my mk 5 gti there come a whisle noise in the engine bay , what can be the problem ?
Wrong place to ask that question.
So if I put an exhaust on my car it voids the apr warranty
incorrect, just don't install the APR Downpipe.....this video is 2 years old, I have the '19' Golf R.....72k mile coverage and the APR+ software w/TCU software...insurance/warranty is not voided with APR Catback or Valveless add, just don't add the downpipe. I like the fact my VW Dealer is an Authorized APR Dealer
Can I do a jb1 tune and just remove it when I bring my car to the dealer
CapeVoice that's not correct according to burgermotorsports
Jason Rothman remove the JB4 and erase the codes (if there are any), and you’ll be fine. The piggyback isn’t flashing the ECU, so the flash counter isn’t moved. Also since it’s a piggyback, the higher boost levels never get to the ecu, so Boost levels never exceed stock levels.
Does the ECU know if you use a chip to tell it boost is normal but at the same time upping it by 7psi
What is your opinion of JB4 plug n play ?
Jack hey bud I had a jb4 along with a few of my buddies. We were always having issues with them. I would save for a proper tune from stratified, apr, united motor sports...etc
If you have a local euro shop I’d check with them!
Is this tune ok for the dual clutch 7 speed automatic transmission?
With a tcu tune it is.
just a few things:
test drove a base GTI S DSG with this software just yesterday at the dealership and it's pretty amazing.
Similar to the warranty ABT have had for years...
Scared straight!
Take a look here we talked all about it th-cam.com/video/wW25ZxVPqxg/w-d-xo.html
i have a 1.8 tsi mk7 2016 golf. is there a unitronic mod for my car? I live in canada btw
+Faisal basha yup take a look here shopdap.com/looking-to-tune-your-mk7-golf-18t/
I've been told to buy the transmission mount from 034 motorsports and engine mount from BFI... what do you suggest for a stage 1?
I'm new to this VW mk7 thing, if there's any software out there that can be totally removed before you bring the vehicle to a dealership for any repair under warranty??
Only thing that works is JB4 from what I know if you flash your ECU it doesn't matter if you flash it back there is information that can be traced. So stuff like the Cobb AP which stores your original ECU flash when you marry it to your car doesn't prevent you from being caught. It's really best to talk to your dealership first and clear it with them. If they aren't interested then maybe drive a little farther and talk to a different dealership.
Need to do a new video.
For your direct price-per-unit-of-power comparison, it might be more useful to directly compare it to APR stage one instead of Unitronic stage one. Although I understand why you framed the comparison this way. *wink wink, nudge nudge*
+underdog138 it would looks basically to same.... but sure. Wink wink.... buy buy ; )
Paul
Yeah, who tunes a car and then only drives it 30 mph to church and back Sundays? I've heard APR is a more aggressive tune than some of the others and stresses the engine more... but that's hearsay, so maybe you can define that for us?
APR had the right idea, but they missed the mark by so much it's insane. Great idea, terrible execution.
How? Want to explain how a tune that is very close to stage one and includes a small premium is a bad idea? As it is now it's a compelling offering.
And the price has come down...
You guys really need to update or delete this video. Nearly all the numbers are wrong, as well as the pricing.
first! thank you for the video!
I already see a big hole in coverage, the transmission.
+mike moore the trans is currently covered
I had my MK7 GTI stage 2, Transmission went, VW covered it, knowing I was no longer stock.
JB1 was shit, JB4 is ok but even the techs at my dealership recommend a OTS tune over JB4.
They will never offer that in the UK
shadyninja1 LOL why would you even want it? Get a Jb1 or Jb4 if you don't want to flash and or you want to keep your warranty.
iNeedMorePSi I don't know what a jb1 or jb2 is but I already have APR stage one on my Audi with full emcs controlled via retrofitted cruise control
shadyninja1 bloody hope so for my mk7 r
pick up a forge atmospheric diverter valve it comes with 4 types of springs for holding different amounts of boost,,
Unitronic baseline is wonky; their numbers are baked.
