Logitech G PRO X Wireless Headset Review - The Truth!

  • For $200 I had high expectations and I'm happy to say most were met or exceeded. This headset is incredibly comfortable with great sound quality and the most stable connection I've seen on a wireless headphone. The Blue branded microphone is really good, but not a game changer when compared to ones like the Audio-Technica ATH-G1WL or even the Stealth 700 Gen 2 with regards to clarity in upper frequencies.

    Great video my Man! In depth, very thorough and informative.
    Yours is probably the 6th video I watch aimed at the GPro X and this is at the top.
    I also heard about the issue on the cords breaking after a sort time of use but that comes down to factory error and that's always up to chance.
    I hope mine wont break and It will serve me well for years.
    Thanks again for the review and keep up the hustle! Subbed!

    I'm using this headset on my PS4. I haven't downloaded the software for it yet because I just got the headset today. After a quick trial run I have one complaint, I cannot hear myself when I talk into the mic. If I download the software and adjust the sidetone will it hold over to the PS4 or is that only for PC purposes? I think I might've made a mistake buying this headset. Which sucks because it sounds great.

    Did you ever experience issues with your own voice crackling / distorting with sidetone when speaking at a normal level? I've seen a few others experience a similar issue online but based on the low amount of complaints about it I could find online it may not be common. It was unbearable for me out of the box and I've been working diligently to troubleshoot it. I've gotten it to a bearable (albeit not perfect) level, but I'm starting to think I had a faulty unit out of the box.

    Thanks, Joe. Great review. Not a gamer but looking for a good wireless headset that won't break my bank - with good mike audio.
    However... real question... what is your mike & audio setup? What a great warm audio sound you have on your YT track. I know the good voice does much of the work, but there's such excellent sound quality here, it stands out from the sea of tech-videos.
    Have you done any YTs about your setup? I'd me most interested to know the full setup, sure others will too.
    Really impressive, and a terrific presentation style. 👌
    Cheers and all the best

    I have a pair of LucidSound LS15X off your recommendation. I haven't regreted that one bit either. You're one of the only ones who really realize how good of a sound they put out.
    That being said, I'm switching to PC gaming, from my xbox. The LS15X's work on my PC, but I lost Game/ Chat mix capabilities. Still amazing sound, but here in lies my question: Are these comparable sound-wise to the LS15X's? My A40's aren't, neither are my SS 7X's. I want to buy a PC gaming headset to get the chat/game function back, but I'm nervous I'll be in trial and error all over again, especially since the LS15X's were so good.
    If not these, what else? Great review again btw. Your channel is supper underrated, actually your ear is!

    Equalizer APO & Peace don't work right with the Logitech G PRO X Wireless.
    When I install all of that and setup just a +6 gain, I lose any sound in games like PUBG if someone is coming up from behind me.
    It also makes my mic sound like trash.
    When I uninstall both EQ APO + Pease, my mic sounds great, I get back the simulated surround of someone being behind me in games... but I just don't get the boosted volume.
    I tried changing the sound channel setup to "stereo" rather than the default 7.1... but no luck.
    I will have to seek out other solutions for upping the preamp that ONLY does the preamp without messing everything else up.

    Bought these headphones about a year ago and overall, I love them. The only issue I have ever had was the lack of footstep tracking while in FPS games. Other gaming audio was great but footsteps were horrible. I watched some of your other videos and found GG Sonar from SteelSeries which works with this headset and was able to improve footstep audio tremendously. I have the wired version and the EQ is just 5 bands and is basically useless for tuning. For the price though, I am pretty happy with them now, just wish the GHub software was as good as the GG Sonar from SteelSeries for controlling footstep audio.

    Im deciding between these and the A50. Most important thing I care about is latency with audio. According to RTings this has 43 ms and the A50 has 10 ms. Do you notice any delay with G Pro X Wireless? Do you think I would notice less of a delay with the A50?
    Here in Canada the A50 is 400 whereas the G Pro X Wireless is 250 and I don’t want to spend 150 more if I dont need to.

      Let me offer to you what worked for me with no distorting of audio or adding gain at the preamp level. Hope this will help if you still have the headset.
      1. Completely uninstall both applications and remove all of their configs. (Equalizer APO and the add-on, if installed)
      2. Reboot just to be safe.
      3. Install ONLY the Equalizer APO. When going through the setup, be sure to select that you want to use it on the G Pro X Wireless, and that it's set as the default audio device.
      4. Launch a game that you were having low audio issues in and see if it sounds significantly louder.
      Those are the steps that worked for me. Seems like just installing Equalizer APO for the headset causes it to sound the way that it should out of the box, not thanks to Logitech.
      None of your EQ settings or anything from the G Hub app will be impacted, and no functionality is lost, which is absolutely wonderful.
      Prior to me doing this, I would have volume at 100% in RDR2, and it was the equivalent of any other headset I've used set to about 40%.
      After, running at 90% is uncomfortable for me when there are gunshots. 70% is about where I like for it to be if gaming causally, 80% is perfect for when I want it loud lol.
      I hope this helps you!

    Are there any headsets that do a good job with simulated surround sound? Honestly they all seem bad, but I guess the manufacturers feel like they have to have it on the box or it will seem like their products lack features. Anyway, nice review. You take a deeper dive than most tech channels out there. I was also kind of disappointed in the mic quality. I feel like if you're going to go to the trouble of getting Blue on board and marketing that then it should be like streamer/podcast level but it really doesn't sound any better than anything else out there.

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It turns out Blue never made the mic, they only licensed the software. It explains why the mic sounds similar to other Logitech headsets and isn't a class leading headset mic. Most gaming headsets do better in stereo mode, but Atmos and DTS can help (DTS requires a special sample rate setting for it to work). The best wireless headset mic I've heard is the Stealth 700 Gen 2 from Turtle Beach.

  • @str8harry
    @str8harry 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Idk if I got a bad one or what, but I thought the sound quality was like the definition of mediocre and literally every friend said my mic was worse than my original mic (amazon desk hook mic for like $60). It pressurized tf outta my head after like every 30 minutes of gaming. Personally wouldn't recommend. My friend's Arctis 5's felt better and that's just sad.

    Hey man I bought the headset recently... Have you tried setting your advanced speaker properties to 16 bit, 32000 Hz (FM Radio Quality)
    I believe that fixes the surround sound problem that you're talking about. I am no audiophile I am wondering what difference in Quality does it do?
    I am a competitive guy when it comes to CS:GO I prefer losing that quality for the surround sound advantage but I don't notice any difference anyway. I wish I know what Audio settings does S1mple use since he uses these headset as well...

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’re right and yes it does make a difference. It’s unfortunate they make you downgrade the sample rate to use virtual sound processing but that is indeed the fix! I discovered that fix thanks to other comments and tweaking it in the past but unfortunately that was after I filmed this review. Thanks for mentioning it and have a good one!

    • @CrimeMiz

      @@GadgetryTech What do you think is best for gaming (performance wise, footsteps, direction and other things) since quality doesn't matter that much there and normal people won't notice the difference DTS 16 bit FM or surround off?
      I think Logitech g hub should mention in a note or have their software automatically set the rates if a certain technology needs a different standard rate to be implemented, a lot of people return their headsets from this lmao! sorry for asking again but I am always lost when I change headsets I wish I can understand audio graphs and set my own settings without wasting a week on every new headset...

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For gaming you won't experience a massive difference in bit rates, but I would recommend higher bit rates with surround disabled for music listening. To me some games sounded better with DTS on or off, so your experience may differ. I spend much more time tweaking the EQ settings more than messing with virtual sound.

    I have used Astros for a LOOOOOOOONG time. I still have a gen 2 Mixamp Pro TR and a set of A40's. That being said, I just went through a terrible experience with their "support". They have switched over to an email only system. So, if your headset isn't working, you will wait 2 days for a response. The resource that got my ticket put in troubleshooting steps for A50's but I have A40's so there is another day. Seemed like he was just copying and pasting stuff for recommendation without actually reading my questions/response. After his 3rd response he gave up. Basically said he had exhausted all steps, the headset was out of warranty and here is a link to buy a new one. No loyalty program, no offer for a % off, no suggestions to rollback drivers, nothing. If this would have been a better experience I would have stuck with Astro and ordered the A50's
    Funny enough I think Astro is owned by Logitech now. So in a round about way they are still getting my money as I just ordered this G Pro X wireless headset.
