    Ya know, having the Baby Face's Blaster equipped and moving a bit slower as a scout will indeed get you spy checked more. But that also means that if you so desire, you can be a pretty convincing fake spy.

      Whole video made in 5 maps currently reflects current state of the game- 1 map per game mode (rotation removed so every1 votes for same map), 1 loadout per class (even natasha is destroyed- like heavy having 200 hp with that 30 percent more damage taken.) The more game is balanced the less it is fun (like classic wow-WOTLK to current game where it became literal online shop with no soul), move on to IRL people- make movies, videos about games like this one or make music.

    Actually, the scout never outran his own hitbox. It's already been tested several times on different interp ratios and it's not the case at all. It was however a serious balancing issue.

      Reminds me of wolfenstein enemy front, or what the multiplayer to return was called. The guns where exactly the same, but they looked and sounded diffrent. After a lot of complaints that the german machinegun was overpowered, which was factually impossible, they looked at the data. They where dumbfounded. The kills where completly fucked. After some tinkering they found the problem. It was the fucking sound. The gun sounded better, so germ players where more confident and shot better.

    To be honest, I loved the original BFB, where you lost ALL your boost from jumping normally. Something very fun about planning routes around being entirely on the ground.

      Same, and on lakeside (especially lakeside event) you could crouch while falling to land on the little platform without having to swim or jump. Stuff like that make the weapon really fun to maneuver without one of scouts biggest bonuses

    Ohh back in like 2012 it was so good. 6 shots, 10% more accurate, starting with the speed of a soldier and 100 damage got you up to 180% speed or something. Yes, you weren't allowed to jump AT ALL but that's fair. Most fun I've had as scout.

      He was saying that 100 damage wasn't too hard for a scout that has a speed of 133% but the baby blaster makes it very difficult to achieve when you are 10% slower and have a clip size/magazine capacity reduced by 33%, unless the enemies are standing still

      Because it isn't true. Scout never could outrun his hitbox. The only time he could "outrun" his hitbox was by using a buggy command that showed inaccurate hitboxes to begin (it's such a bad and broken command that they actually completely replaced it in CS:GO). So basically, if you were using a console command that showed wrong hitboxes then the hitboxes would seem off- in other words: It didn't happen. Realistically it was more of the general pose bug (which flipped hitboxes) that existed for a decade that affected half of the classes in the game and led them to have inaccurate hitboxes anyways (though even the command that people used to showcase this bug is the same broken one that has the bad syncing between player model and hitboxes, so yeah).

    I miss the old pocket pistol for one stat: the no fall damage when holding the weapon. this went perfect with countering the lost boost on fall damage (fitting as they are a part of the same set.)

    Did you know: Scout can normally survive a direct hit by a solider.
    With this gun you cant even survive a spash since you are so slow you might aswell be dead.

The scout's max hp without overheal is 125. stock, beggars bazzoka, black box, cowmangler at point blank do 112 damage. Liberty launcher does around 60, and direct hit does like 145 damage at point blank

      Hey, I like your videos, but I think I have a better way to use the baby faces blaster. I think the winger is a better secondary if used right. You are training of bleed for your jump back. The winger with one jump is almost the same as a normal double jump. I do think if you can aim the cleaver, then I do agree with using it over the winger. I do think the better melee is the Boston basher because if you run in, hit them with the basher, and run out, is very similar to the cleaver. The big drawback is if you hit yourself, but that can be fixed with practice. Anyway, that's all I have to say. Keep up your great videos

    Another good loadout I’ve heard of for the baby face is atomizer and winger. As soon as you take damage, you suddenly go from very horizontally mobile, to very vertically mobile, and can become a whirlwind around an enemy while you get your charge back.

    I've actually noticed that the SoaS is actually a valid choice when using this weapon, as the 25% fire damage resistance is strangely applicable to attempting to escape from pyros while maintaining some of your boost.

    I just love seeing someone make a recommendation to use the wrap assassin. I remember when everyone was like "-%70 damage on hit? What a garbage weapon!" for a melee weapon on a class that has a shotgun designed to deal so much damage at point blank range. I have a hard time hitting an enemy with a melee attack in tf2 when I have like... a gun, but I never bother with the scout's bat, so having a long range poke option (that doesn't cost 15 hp from my max health) is nice to have and pairs well with this gun I believe.

    The winger also has decent synergy with the baby face, as it can get you hight simmeler to double jumping without using boost, and it’s kinda fun to switch between dodging with speed and dodging with jumping when you loose your boost

    A change that I think could work is that the 25 damage has to be in one hit for you to lose boost, so at least incidental chip damage and afterburn wouldn't drain it.

      It might be a good idea to take away the hot downside and instead make it so the boost drains until you get some hits, that way it would encourage scout players to go more aggressive with the weapon

    Honestly I would remove the "on hit you lose your speed" stat with a decaying boost, maybe you could shoot someone and gain the boost for like 2-3 seconds, then it starts decaying. I think it would promote the scouts hit and run playstyle way better.

    I personally like the idea of making it work more consistently by borrowing from the eyelander, do enough damage you get a point on a counter, if you double jump or get damaged a certain amount you lose a point, points max out at 4 or 5 so you can't get to a point to where you have to many point for it to ever be a problem.

    how i see it, it needs to be changed to "lose 10% boost when hit" instead of " boost reduced when hit"
    that way it can actually change how you deal with damage. single hits from soldiers, demos, other scouts, and snipers dont immediately drop you to zero and you can still run around quickly, while other weapons/classes either can be more useful agaisnt you or become a further rpoblem and you'd wanna stay away. any dmg over time weapons, pyro's flamethrower and secondaries, the heavy, the needleguns would be useful.
    i could see this as a viable change adn actually make it fair, along side fixing being hit once by lilterally anything and becoming an immediate target with a very low chance of getting away ONTOP of losing all your charge you gained because you became an easy target

    Great video! Love this series! I remember when the BFB was a terror in TF2... granted, it was very fun to play with, but I think Valve went a little nuts with the nerf, like damage decreasing speed is fine but 25 damage really had me scratching my head lol I think 50 should be the minimum

    Remember when this thing used to be overpowered?
    Luckily, I think the only change this weapon needs to be viable again is changing how much Boost you lose when taking damage. Currently, if you get hit with 30 damage you lose 90% your Boost meter (which is what makes the weapon useless). They should change it so that if you take 30 damage you only lose 30% of your Boost meter.
    Edit: And fall damage shouldn't remove Boost either; basically all the changes they did to the Tide Turner.

    a personal build i love with the blaster is crit-a-cola and wrap assassin. the assassin lets you do that oh-so-important bleed damage at long range, and minicrits removes all damage fall-off for your primary. minicrit bleed is also extremely deadly, and the synergies are just incredible.

    i personally think valve ought to remove the double jump penalty. if getting hit by anything at all drastically decreases your boost, you should have more tools available to dodge enemies and keep that boost.

      Pretty sure even rocket jumping soldiers go faster than BFB scouts. And projectiles DEFINITELY go faster, and they don't 'outrun' their hitboxes. If that was a thing there'd be people getting nailed by huntsman arrows for 0 damage, then other people randomly dying instantly from the hitbox 'catching up' later.

    I think what would be cool is soundsmith’s suggestion. Where when you get hit, the boost starts to decay, but doesn’t decrease more when getting hit. So you can maintain your boost, while getting hit for 15 damage.

    I would like to propose my own fix for the baby faces blaster, first fix the outrunning hitbox thing
    Pros
    Boost meter fills with damage
    Speed increases with boost (max speed now 185%)
    Cons
    10% slower without boost
    -34% clip size
    No double or triple jump
    (w/ atomizer)
    Boost reduced on hit (100% to 0% takes 75 dmg instead of 25 dmg)
    Plus you can use it with the winger to still get to higher places

    A rework idea I had.
    User spawns with 15% less movement speed
    If the user kills a enemy with the weapon they will gain a 15% faster movement speed increase stacking to 45% faster movement speed
    Double jumping temporarily disables any gained movement speed for 4 seconds.
    5 shot clip.

    I think this weapon should be changed to an aggressive weapon with the speed boost but instead of losing it to a syringe gun half the map away, you lose it constantly, not as fast as it to be annoying, but fast enough for you to be doing damage the entire time, i think it would take it from a "get in and get out" gun to an aggressive type of gun, thats where the clip size comes in to make it balanced, you have to be doing damage consistently for your boost to be goin up, i think it would be a great change to the gun

    -one less jump(aka no double jump)

    I certainly have few things to say here :v
    First, really neat video analyzing this weapon regarding what current tactics (i.e guillotine) helps to ease the fluctuating boost as well as examining what flaws it has in current form as a result of the notable nerf in form of damage removing boost at 1 to 4 rate to fix an issue about hard-hitting scouts that honestly was more about eliminating the horizontal movement combined with rapid side step strafing double-jumps (which I used a lot back in the day) being reason as the whole running faster than his hit-box has never been confirmed in practice, since Soldiers and Demos tend to be 3-5 times faster on average when blast jumping except their fast speed in air was negated mostly due to predictable arc of the flight as well as being hurt to begin with). Not blaming you from mentioning the hit-box thing thou as it has been popularly around ever since the infamous date: mere exposure effect at its finest.
    Secondly, while idea of simply adjusting the damage removing on the boost into 1-to-1 ratio, I feel like having a flip-flopping effect on your movement is not really that good for a weapon that has concept for getaways in horizontal ways (compared to Soda Popper having vertical buff as a reward of enough damage).
    Thus I probably would make more significant but possibly interesting changes to BBF as follows:
    > Remove the double jumping and damage reducing the boost.
    > Remove the progressive boost gain relevant to the amount the meter is filled.
    > Apply the Boost-meter to be activated with right-click (or by taunting) once it is full, giving 5-8 seconds of 173% run speed.
    > Increase damage needed for a full meter to 300-400 dmg.
    > (OPTIONAL): No double-jumping while Boost is activated.
    These stats basically come to my mind as a way to balance Boost into being something you decide where to use it: to flee, to flank or to get oneself a short advantage to combat a target which would require having to deal with being constantly slower than stock Scout and having less ammo in a clip in order to emphasize into more situational hit-and-run side-grade of a weapon. After all, constantly passive elements are pretty tricky to balance especially if they're supposed to get filled by just doing what your class is meant to do (examples being Eyelander on Demoman giving damage and health buff up to 5 kills or how Soda Popper used to charge simply by running), where as the more static activated buffs allows for more room to think which I feel can be used on Natascha to adjust something more fair than constant slowdown effect...
    Buuut, that is a different pickle to tackle so in meanwhile I would like to hear politely any opinions to my concept for swapping stats on BBF. Anyhoo, mini-lecture over: back to sipping drinks and seeing into future for more of your content. Keep it up, Fsoas!

    pump-action shotguns have a tube
    the stock, reserve shooter, and panic attack are all pump action
    weapons that don't feed with the conventional magazine reload with a clip, which is inserted into the magazine
    one example is the m1 garand
    the baby-face's blaster has a drum magazine, and the back scatter has a beta-c drum
    these are magazine fed

    I never got to use the Babyface before it got "nerfed into the ground". But, for all it's worth, it's the only scattergun I ever use. In my opinion, 30 damage taking away 90% of your boost isn't an issue since your speed allows you to dodge EVERYTHING! And, even if you do get hit, the same way you can lose all your boost in a second, you can also get it back just as quickly.
    Plus, both at minimum, and maximum boost, you'll still throw off many demos, soldiers, pyros, and so on that try to guide their shots.

      Idk, given the amount of spam and random fire everywhere (and people who can actually aim) getting hit by a stray bullet or being caught at the edge of rocket splash isn’t too uncommon. It just feels bad imo, kind of like getting tagged in CS except nobody else on your team experiences this issue.

    Honestly, ive been religiously using the baby face for a while now, and the speed nerf when you have no boost isnt even the worst part, its the fact you only have 4 shots.

    Sorry, I just hate it when people hate the Scorch Shot even though other classes can do the exact same thing. Good video.

      Except you have to aim the cleaver and the ball since they don’t have splash damage and you can’t throw another cleaver two seconds after the first one 16 times in a row. This is hardly an equivalence, it’s much more comparable to the regular flare gun.

      @@fishstickonastick-gaming As a matter of fact, the Wrap Assassin does have splash damage, granted, it's so small and doesn't apply the bleeding effect so you don't even notice it. But in the end, you are still doing virtually the same thing, long to medium range DoT chip damage that is annoying more than anything else. And if you're accurate and patient enough, you can stack the Guillotine along with the WA's ball to do double the amount of bleeding, similar in the sense that the Scorch Shot awards mini-crits on burning players.
      I am not arguing that the cleaver/assassin combo is as spammy and annoying as just using the Scorch Shot, I agree that the Scorch Shot is annoying, but at the end of the day, the cleaver/assassin and the Scorch Shot give and reward the player the same thing. DoT chip damage at a medium to long-range.

      @@kleskthewarlock scorch shot is still way more busted. you can literally hit people twice with ONE projectile. if you get a direct hit with both the cleaver and the wrap assasin, you do twice the damage. you get a direct hit with the scorch shot, which sets you on fire, and then the projectile falls and you can get hit again, this time with a minicrit. shoot again, hit directly, and guess what? two minicrits in one projectile, not to mention the cooldown is way smaller on the scorch shot compared to the other two weapons. granted, you still have to hit a direct hit to get the two hits, but even if you miss, you're likely to get hit anyway due to that splash radius. that's why the other two flares are nowhere near as good, and why the comparison between the scorch shot and cleaver/wrap assassin is a joke.

      @@Hyperiotic I never said the cleaver/assassin combo is as broken as the Scorch Shot. I said that by using both, you are achieving the same thing. The Scorch Shot's literal job is to make Pyro into a long-range pesterer, to deter Sniper's and groups of enemies from a distance using chip damage. Those are nearly the same jobs the cleaver and Wrap Assassin have, just at a shorter range. If anything, FSoaS saying the cleaver/assassin combo encourages Scouts into being long-range pesterers is the joke, because the main goal is to use the Baby Face's Blaster, not the cleaver/assassin.

    I remember times where I effortlessly capture briefcases in 2fort simply because I was too fast that either the enemy team couldn't build their sentries fast enough, or I literally outrun their sentries' aim.

    To be honest, even though the Babyface blaster isn't great anymore, I still have my moments with it. I like the more centered radius the spread has, and if the opposite team is scattered enough, I can clear a CTF match with full boost and just avoid their sights.
    I'll pair it with either the Mad milk to be supportive with teammates on fire, or as a run and throw on a group so my team can be healed while pushing.
    Or I'll use the Pretty Boys pocket pistol to keep the flow going while healing myself.
    Also fun fact; I renamed mine to "Blast Processing"
    "It does what Heavies don't."

    Value should change it to like the soda popper style where u store boost and active them when u need to. And they can get rid of the on hit lose boost and slower speed due to the boost being active than passive.
