    Great choice for an around town or local cruising. Had a 2020 one very similar and it was easy to live with. Thanks for sharing.

      FJB. Amen. And Jerry's videos are so good. I was down where he is for A&P school but had lost my bike. Totally willing to go to motorcycle mecca to attend in person, he is that awesome.
      Someday I will.

    Love mine. 2020 so it has spoke wheels. Bought it private, 100 miles on it for a little less. 500 bucks and about an hour to put on forward controls the first week. In my 62 years I've been thru a lot of bikes, this is my favorite. Powerful and smooth. Great review-keep it up brother.

    Since the EVO Sportsters were discontinued, the Softail Standard has become the least expensive means to get on a new traditional air-cooled 45 degree pushrod engine H-D. It's $2000 less than the RevMax Sportster S which totally IMHO, I would avoid as a first new H-D. You can leave the Standard stock or build it into anything you want. Many like this one in the video get traded with super low miles on them by those who move up. You have to weigh the prices between these used ones and new ones at model year end or leftovers to see which really is the best value. Sometimes added accessories give a better deal, other times having the full new warranty and lower finance rates buying new work out better.

    Great bike. My wife and I have matching 2022s. Different tank logo. The tank graphics on your demo give this away that it is a 2023 model.

    Funny thing is that HD designs those softails specifically to have some vibration left in them. Can't have them too refined i guess?

    I rode one of these in 2014 when I bought my Fatboy. Great bike, but just not up to what Indian offers. Even for air cooled.
    If I had my old job and old pay, I would have one for a second bike.

    It looks better with the spoked wheels., and wish they would have at least put black or chromed cast wheels on it. The grey look bad imo.

    Would you consider a softail standard a good motorcycle to learn on?

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on your fear level and willingness to practice proper techniques. If you're a high fear person, no.

    Hey Jerry would you say that the softail standard is a beginner bike

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. A 250cc is a beginner bike.

  • @Inconvenient_NPC

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nonsense. There are plenty of deals to be had in this buyers market.

    • @MarkPalmer1000
      @MarkPalmer1000 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true. You have to decide on exactly the bike you want, know how much you have to spend for it, and stick to your guns while shopping around. Sometimes it takes being patient.

  • @deanbalouris330
    @deanbalouris330 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do those crash bars affect cornering? It looks like they’re mounted really low on the bike and stick out a great deal. I would think it would be easy to bang them on the pavement well before full lean.

      Yes. Unless you're 6 ft or more. Then it's just right. The good news is Memphis Shades has several windshield sizes.

  • @sPi711
    @sPi711 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Whats wrong with the Memphis Shades fairing. I've had them on 3 bikes. They do a real good job of blocking the wind and can be taken on or off in minutes.

    Currently HD dealers are busting at the seems with new bikes. HD might want to wait until May before they start shipping their new 2024 bikes.
    A couple of months ago my shitty local HD dealer in Lafayette Indiana ( hint ) had a used 2023 Lowriders S parked next to a new 2023 Lowrider S and they were the same color. The used 2023 had 1,500 miles on it. If I could get a good deal I would get a bike for my wife. I asked the salesman how much. He said it was $600 bucks less than the new one. I was like WTF. The used 2023 was bought new at this dealership. All the BS add ons and fees were paid when this bike was purchased new. Including a $500 paint protection fee this dealer tacks on every bike. I won't ever be buying from this HD dealership again. Last year I bought a new 2022 Street Bob from this dealer . The salesman knew me. He also knows I have excellent credit. His only suggestion was to buy the new one because it has a full warranty. If they would have knocked another $2,500 off this bike I would have bought it.
    Same dealer also had a 2022 Heritage they could not sell. You know the black & red one that no one wants. They willing to knock off $1500 on this bike.
