  • The minority have too much. The majority, too little. Sound familiar? It’s Namibia, where 28 years after independence the country is still grappling with the question of land reform. How have they handled it and what lessons are there for South Africa?

This is a very complex issue. Research should be sponsored on how to resettle black farmers without compensation and without hurting the economy and making it efficient.

All Namibian leaders need to step down. Black Africans need to step up that loves their people and their land. That will not be willing to be a puppet to Colonizers.

Eastcoaststig Durban poor family planning... Black old traditions, if you've got alot of children a handful might become successful and help the parents out of poverty... Obviously it's a huge gamble but yeah that's life.

This is a bit frustrating to watch... they want to be given free land, when they are given land, they then want free houses built, schools built, a free town built, the necessary infrastructure and teachers. They also want free help in the form of assistance and teaching of how to run a farm. It's endless.
Take land that's efficiently growing enough food that Namibians are not starving... and give it to individuals who will struggle to feed themselves.
This sounds good on the surface perhaps... especially when you pull at heartstrings with an emotional argument, but it's problematic to the core.
I do not see this going well.

When tend to forget the generous government support that was afforded the German ex-soldiers after the 1908 and massive assistance given to the impoverished Afrikanders after 1948 to solve the 'arm-Borere vraagstuk' by establishing farms in Namibia (in the end most ended up failing despite the assistance and that is how the Damaraland farms where turned into a Bantustan for Damaras removed from central Namibia).

The farmers of today where afforded loans and training why not the current poor aspiring farmers? Stop your self righteous nonsense, that's a mindset of a selfish individual that does not know their own history of how they came to be. stop it.

People had the land and it was taken by whites. It is actually wrong to say "they want to be given free land". You cannot compare land with houses, schools and infrastructure. The land was there at the beginning for everyone to share for free. So whites should share the land and this time the government requested whites to sell some pieces of land so that land can be redistributed to those who dont have. Remember that the willing seller - willing buyer is a government notion, because they understand that those who have land at the moment, they have actually invested a lot on infrastructure and also that the current generations is not really the one who took the land, they are only beneficial from those who took the land, hence the willing seller willing buyer aimed at compromising. But whites do not want to compromise, they should expect confrontation.
