- It's ben many months, but Houseki No Kuni / Land of The Lustrous is finally back from Hiatus with a bang of a chapter, that I might even call one of the best in the entire series. Haruko Ichikawa has done it again, and the end seems closer than ever before for this wonderful story.

The Eyeball thingy has became my all time favorite character. I'm glad Phos finally have someone who didn't left him behind.
Something that I noticed when rewatching the anime was that phos was assigned as the gem to write a encyclopedia about everything. She originally didn’t want that job and wants to do the fighting. She gets that in the middle then wants more answers. And at the end she knows everything about past and present. Just like an encyclopedia.

i've never cried so much from any piece of media, but man this manga and especially this chapter got me. "you have me, humanity...until the very end, i'll be with you". that struck me so hard. both Phos and humanity will live on. Phos still thinks they need to sacrifice themself for the sake of others, but like Pebble said, without them they couldn't be happy like they have been. Phos gave to the pebbles the human capacity to create art and tell stories, something that brings them all happiness. by being nothing but kind and wanting the best for them, they spared the pebbles from the aspects of humanity that lead to suffering which they were so afraid of spreading to them. i believe these negative aspects of humanity are contained within the organic outer body of Phos, while the purity and innocence is within the inorganic gem Phos. Brother will bring the pure gem Phos with them, allowing the organic body to burn away, saving Phos from their self-destructive human nature and leaving only their kind and creative human nature. they're wrong in wanting to destroy themselves entirely, because they have just as much positive influence as potential negative influence, as Brother and the other pebbles have figured out but Phos still doesn't see it.
humanity has finally redeemed themselves by putting this whole plan into action, passing along all the positive traits of the human soul that bring happiness into inorganic life, and destroying the negative traits which cause suffering that are inherent to organic life.
I had genuine tears in my eyes at the "Don't worry little one, I will be here with you" part, such a great and depressing story
Reading everything from Phos' final transformation up until the newest chapter with the Oppenheimer soundtrack at full volume is a next level experience
I literally cried the whole chapter… It was beautifully made and sad at the very same time, thanks for this video ❤ Really excited and sad because it’s gonna end but I hope Phos finally can live as he deserves
Love that we also got the original piece of Phos on the magazine cover even if it was on a corner. This was probably the happiest chapter of the series which is insane to think about with how much suffering as been dissipated since the prayer. I wonder if the fast progression of the bodhi seed from 105 that started talking within a chapter would mean we would get a talking Phos next chapter (if we even cut immediately to the ship/new planet).
i miss youngest phos, with their green fluffed hair, but i'm glad he seems to be at peace
Possibly the saddest part about manga and anime is that they eventually end. For bloated series like One Piece, you kinda can’t wait for the story to wrap up. But for stories like Land of the Lustrous, you hope to get as much additional story as possible before it’s all over.
The fact the other gems and the moon people got a happy ending whilst Phos might not is honestly heartbreaking. They were all so selfish who just used or beat Phos down into what they became.
Tbh, they didn't really which make Phos's suffering even more pointless. According to Adamant's brother, everyone at one point is going to be reborn again in a new universe in some form including Phos and his little pebble friends (unless they reach enlightment/ the actual nirvana if that's even a thing in their universe).
April 25 of 2024 is the day of this series will end with this i reccomend reading this manga

it should have ended at chapter 98. the last 9 chapters have just been aimless nonsense. like she has no idea what to do with the story. she should have just ended it at chapter 98 and pho prayed everyone out of existence including herself.
