Interesting video. But one thing that I think is missing/would explain what he’s doing better, is to show his screen so you could see what he’s doing on his screen while he explains it.
Many artists would prefer to keep their methods private for understandable reasons right? Is easier to stand out if you're the only one using your methods.
Hearing the signal before processing would've been interesting to hear as well.
Nah, just use your ears and own sense of creativity.
@@thomsonhomson you mean, why does he do these videos, but choose to film them in such a way that the screen isn’t shown?
Presumably they have this discussion beforehand and what we’re seeing is what they agreed upon.
@@thomsonhomson money, promotion as well as probably wanting to educate and inspire people to come up with their own processes
Jon Hopkins for me is such a master of soundscape and creating atmospheres. Really inspiring seeing his process and input on his music. Thank you
Maaaaan, imagine having Jon Hopkins on and the screen capture fails... His screen out of ANYONE you've ever had on would be the most educational and fascinating to see
This was mesmerising.
I would love to see a video of him explaining how he came up with some of his tracks.

Fantastic! Thank you. Love "Music for Psychedelic Therapy", a great album.
YES! John Hopkins is fantastic!
Great album. And it's really neat that the Ensoniq Fizmo synths just fell out of the sky like they did. And that what I tend to think of as almost the theme sound of the album is such a weird and wonderful synth. The Fizmo is talked about, but rare, and I don't think people have heard it much. A rare sunset purple and blue songbird :)
Thankx for breaking it down.. great tutorial for beginners
This is THE video i've been after for years! Amazing. My Favourite music producer ever. And to get the plugin list is amazing. What if I can't afford the pricer ones? Which reverb is going to get me the best results?
Damn, he got an ensoniq fizmo?????
master the tools/instruments that set you on. Define your own taste. stop listening for a while to what you want to make. now experiment, find your flow state. the result will be your own.
Thanks TH-cam algorithm! This is ace
First comment! 😍 I love Jon Hopkins so much! ❤️🙌
4:58 sounds like: synthonicity to me!
Altiverb! YAY my Fave reverb

Neumann NDH 20
Anyone know the mic setup they are using?
Why no screen shot ? Epic fail !
Little known fact: Jon Hopkins is actually son to Matt Berry.
Wait, really?
