After watching nearly all of Sam's videos I've really grown a strong desire for long distance sailing. For quite a while I've dreamed of building my own cabin in the woods. Now I'm thinking the woods might not be big enough, I need the world in my backyard. Been looking at the equity stored in my motorcycle hobby a little differently. Maybe a pirates life is the life for me.
#metoo currently riding one of my Harleys around lake Michigan but I've been thinking about what kind of sailboat I can get with the proceeds when I sell it and the others. Cheers bro I hope you make it happen
Sam, thank you for including the small things like the boat pay machine on the dock. These are the details that make me apprehensive about sailing out on my own, as no sailing course will teach that and I would have no way of knowing otherwise.
I've read a lot of comments that say "I've been watching you since...", So i decided to add: "I've been watching you since the day you were born and placed in my arms🤱 and nothing you do can surprise me anymore". The world is your oyster and i love seeing where your creative genius leads you. (But i miss you too) 🧓

Dude! You're my hero! These videos are great! Would you ever consider doing a video of the history of the boats you've sailed and why you changed from one boat to the next?
Hi Sam. Welcome to Copenhagen. I have following you since your trip to Hawaii. Hope you like our lovely Capital and have noticed the Yellow harbour buses that are 100% Electric. And remember Tour de France starts in Copenhagen today 1.7.2022.

Damn I was in Copenhagen also that night during those fireworks! I'm travelling around europe by train and it would've been amazing to say hello in person. Safe travels fellow traveller!

FYI -The Racor filter is your primary and the yanmar on the engine fuel filter is considered the secondary. When putting the new yanmar filter on don't just put it in the metal bowl and screw it on, you should really fit the filter on by pushing it up, then put some diesel in the bowl before screwing the retaining but on. Also, yanmar filters replacement filters are normally pink in color, be careful of aftermarket filters (like some on Amazon which are more of a yellow color) since they don't fit correctly and cause issues - at least they did for me. Thanks for the video and being so candid.
Hey Sam, new to the channel. Really enjoyed the video’s I have seen so far! Looking forward to watching your progress. Hello from New Zealand 🇳🇿 too 🙂🌿👍🏽

Do you ever think the best part of sailing is arriving in new places, stepping off your boat and exploring? It's like such an individual way of turning up, that arrival is unique to you
Really love these videos. I’m no sailor, although i did go to a week long sailing camp when i was about 12 and loved it. Sailed a hobie in a lake for a week. (You should have seen the sunburn i had at the end of the week. I took my lifejacket off and it looked like i was still wearing it. Anyways, I love backpacking solo and these sailing videos kinda remind me of backpacking in a strange way
Where are your boat at now? 01.07.22. I live in Copenhagen. Would be nice to meet you. Fun to see you sailing around in all these places I know. I lived in my sailboat in Lynetten harbor for 3 years. Have a nice trip to Svalbard. I lived in Longyearbyen for 6 months, worked there as a carpenter while I was photoshooting for an exhibition. I also sailed up north in Østersea, and lived in a Tur80 sailboat. Engines are always a mess. Dream is to get an electric one.
I stopped the video to post. Keep your filters clean and keep going. We are all behind your journey. Thank you for taking us along! Ps. Seafoam is awesome. LOVED the channel ride at night!
Diesel tech here, i would be careful with putting anything non combustible directly into the filter housing. Sea foam is magic stuff, but better in the tank. the metering of the injectors shouldn't let enough in the cylinder to hydrolock but its also not going to burn off until the fuel ratio is correct to burn. just my 2 cents, keep up the good work and keep the heavy side down.
Just a comment for armchair sailors. Sam is SUPER chill. It is AMAZING that he manages to do video when under stress. I've been sailing for 55 years (started at 10). Have yet to cross an ocean, but there's still time. Here's the thing. In my experience 3/4 of people get seasick and heeling in a 20kt wind with gusts to 25++ really stresses people out. Keep your sail area small when the wind is above 10 kts. Reef early and as soon as you feel a hint of stress. You're not racing. There are many wonderful adventures to be had on skinny lakes (NY) where the fetch doesn't build up so much. If you know how to sail and can afford a bareboat charter on Lake Champlain or the BVI or Puget Sound, it is a fantastic vacation.
I think most people would be more stressed than that. Even managing to film the whole thing and fix the engine in a very busy port! I was surprised too 💪

Start small, build up to things
This is truly the dichotomy of man. We're wanting for the stability of a homestead, but wanting for exploration at the same time.
