Hello! 👆 I hope we all one day find the peace that the crab man has found. Next up is a rendevous with Soona! Episodes 42 & 43 are up on the archive for patreon supporters, coming soon to YT. Enjoy!
Remember, you still need to press the PRINT button if you want the information that you put the password in to get! Thanks for another thoughtful video!
49:32 I think you got it backward. It makes all Physique checks easier. By remembering your age and realizing that you're still "young", you found yourself full of that youthful vigor that you thought had left you ages ago.
Since Volition is directly tied to your _current_ mental health (as in not just your _maximum_ ), it'd be best to keep your mental health fully healed if you want Volition chiming in to keep Harry grounded
I love that no matter how sympathetic and kind Kim gets, he still always says stuff like "This was in your officer's exams." while explaining basic concepts.
Saying that all these side quests are all relevant to the investigation because they let you develop a perspective on the world is actually mechanically true in the game. Exploring the world and doing side tasks awards you XP, which you then invest into skills, which then help you with the actual murder investigation. It's also mechanically true in a different sense but you'll find out in time :)
Just like Shivers, if you can't understand the city, its inhabitants, their history with the world, how can you be in tune with them and solve the case? It's all part of the process.
especially because the case is ultimately about the city, its history and role, and how its residents interact with that. Even only what Brady has seen so far fits that, you have to understand martinaise to understand Harry and the case!
One other thing I love about how the thought cabinet works is that it builds your character's psyche. It tells a lot about the character. By remembering his age, he knows that even though he's made a lot of mistakes in his past, he still has a life ahead of him, he's not at the end of his rope, and that fills him with hope to become better.
Hey man! There's a character in the game that can be missed but who is very important from the therapy point of view. I really want you to meet them and to give your opinion on them, on how would you tackle their problem, and I think others would be interested too. However for this you need to complete Evrart's quest - and you don't need to trick Liliane or washing lady, you can jsut forge the signatures. I really think it would be worth it
Feel like i need to say that once you unlocked the computer you just immediately left because you were done talking to the old lady but didn't actually use the computer she unlocked
The church is probably the best quest in the game. Maybe even in all the games I've ever played, to be honest. It feels like an entire plot within a plot, while still tied to everything else that's going on.
The Church is great, ton of good content and worldbuilding, all about the Pale... and some of Harry's history. Also I really like Tiago. The creepy intro and then immediately insulting you. And he's got a totally unique look at the Pale! Also love the line after Harry says "love was his drug". After seeing the damage losing his ex-something did, to see Tiago respond and sum it up as Harry getting "taken for a good spin" is oddly comforting. It cuts through the extremely built-up importance Harry has heaped on her since he lost her.
There are two ways to get the thought “Wasteland of Reality” which represents Harry making the choice to quit alcohol. You have to agree with either Measurehead or Tiago that you have a problem. Watching this, I’m starting to think maybe it was intentional. They both have twisted worldviews that would cause most people to discount everything they’re saying. And yet the only way to realize you have a problem is to internalize that even THEY can see it. Having Harry be too wrapped up in burying his recent phone call to find the lesson in this weirdo’s words is definitely the truest roleplaying decision, though.
Always enjoy your analysis of DE and happy to see a new episode. You're bringing a unique approach and discussion. It's also okay if you need to take breaks or time away. Hope you give yourself enough time for the rest of your life to happen.
-1 difficulty to all physique passives is like +1 to physique checks, but only the passive checks. By the way, try agreeing to give up drinking with Tiago - if you think Harry would!
Hey, I want to thank you for this episode specifically; I have a friend who's started saying that they're talking to angels and demons and the like, but otherwise seems to have been improving in terms of mental health. I'd been wondering how to handle our conversations and how much I should be pushing back on that, but it sounds like it's probably just fine to let it be, which is a relief.
One of the videos in the series convinced me to read The Body Keeps The Score and finishing it has not only put me way more in touch with your analysis of the game, but life as a whole. Thanks for the recommendation
OH also - spoilers for something that happens to the beginning of the game if you fail a certain white check that you succeeded: 7:18 Kim actually gives you this handkerchief if you throw up at the initial autopsy! He also gives you a pen for your paperwork if you don't have one. It's pretty sweet of him.
"the crabman" is actually a parody of AA(anonymous alcoholics) and similar Cristian origin, faith based organisations. I kinda wish you would analyse the dialogue after it's completion, because sometimes you focusing on some wording but missing overall point, witch hearts analysis, because it's feels distant from the topic witch game percents.
Will you read books, @eurobrady ? There is a ton in bookstore and they all are optional, but very informative about the world and yourself. Most TH-camrs miss on books because they seem too boring at first, but maybe it's up your alley
@@beyondvioletoh, interesting. Not sure how I missed that. I probably chalked it up to those guys just being too bombed out by the Pale, so I just kinda tossed it from my personal Thought Cabinet 🙂
It's always fun to read all the dialogue options, even if you are doing a full-commit on whatever you actually say. They're so well written because they really are kinda some thoughts that would flash through your head, especially if you're roleplaying! To me, the fact that so many of the choices can be ridiculous is a way to make you re-think what you really want to say; Harry (as a character, a wall between you and the idea) is an inherently ridiculous character, so the barrier of the game is kind of a way to vent, because being ridiculous is what he is. Edit: And, just as I finish writing, you make that point. Very nice! Edit Edit: Tiago is the hardcore Christian in your AA meeting. Edit Edit Edit: NO! Minus one to DIFFICULTY!
Thanks for your comments on talking with ppl with schizophrenia. My brother has been struggling with psychotic episodes for a few years. Best guess is it's drug induced. I never know how to talk with him about it.
- Age is just one of the masks we wear... BREAKTHROUGH IMMINENT: DATE OF BIRTH GENERATOR The synchrony of this was crazy hahahah Good to see you back Brady!
13:45 Especially in Harrys' case - since he is an addict and takes drugs quite frequently, so him hallucinating stuff isn't totally off the table (just think back to that very vivid dream on the first night)
It’s a shame you missed the opportunity to read the letter from the ledger’s closed compartment… it kinda explains a lot about Harry’s painful attachment in a few words.
I used to live in a facility with people with both drug and mental issues (which I personally think is wrong since they're vastly different experiences even if they drug use due to psychological illness), the one schizophrenic that lived there was just like a normal guy, he had his issues when he was alone at home. Such as screaming at walls and audio hallucinations but when he got to meet other people and just be outside he was just like anyone else if a bit more drawn back. Though he was medicated so maybe his earlier time was worse when they hadn't gotten his combinations of meds right
I think if you end up playing the game again for your own enjoyment you would benefit from a harry that "subscribes" and defines who he is narrowly even if its not your way to choose one of the ideologies in the game. It shows a lot of content that can be funny, fascinating, and moving beyond even the parts youve gotten to enjoy But i respect the hell out of a youtuber who dares tell us to "unsubscribe" lol
I'm so stoked for this, the church is my favourite place. Favourite music too. Recently I caved in and started playing the game again, a 1-1-1-1 run this time, and just yesterday I reached the church!
YES I've been waiting!! Love seeing your disco series pop up on my home page. Also love your in-depth analysis of the different characters. Keep up the good work!
i like to open Brady's videos early on the morning, when i just woke up. Basically listening to his monologues about psychology or something. While still being half asleep 😴 and then later i rewatch it the right way 😍
Hello! 👆 I hope we all one day find the peace that the crab man has found. Next up is a rendevous with Soona! Episodes 42 & 43 are up on the archive for patreon supporters, coming soon to YT. Enjoy!
"-1 difficulty to all physique passives" is actually amd *improvement,* presumably because you're younger than you thought you were
Yeah, it makes passives easier
Indeed. “Difficulty” is the number threshold you need to reach with a dice roll. The lower the threshold, the easier the roll.
Remember, you still need to press the PRINT button if you want the information that you put the password in to get! Thanks for another thoughtful video!
I was about to say the same.
The description does say he meets Soona in the next episode… I’m pretty sure it’s not possible to meet Soona without hitting PRINT…
49:32 I think you got it backward. It makes all Physique checks easier. By remembering your age and realizing that you're still "young", you found yourself full of that youthful vigor that you thought had left you ages ago.
the greatest mystery of disco elysium, a real conundrum that will forever torture and haunt the fans:
is tiago just buck-ass naked up there?
Didn't knew it was a mystery. Of course he is!
I swear he got some reddish pants on
Since Volition is directly tied to your _current_ mental health (as in not just your _maximum_ ), it'd be best to keep your mental health fully healed if you want Volition chiming in to keep Harry grounded
Aww, you missed the chance for the thought about sobering up!
If you had healed your morale volition would’ve suggested which dialogue option would give it…
Did he really miss wasteland of reality or whatever the thought was? Oh no. I love that thought
I love that no matter how sympathetic and kind Kim gets, he still always says stuff like "This was in your officer's exams." while explaining basic concepts.
I've always read it as Kim knowing exactly what he's doing, and realizing... exactly what you're doing.

Or he could have the drunks sign it, that’d probably be even more effective
Good to see you! It’s been so long i was getting worried lol
Feel like i need to say that once you unlocked the computer you just immediately left because you were done talking to the old lady but didn't actually use the computer she unlocked

Same. It's my favorite quest the game followed by another one that I won't spoil. It feels like a main quest
"Age is just one of the many masks we wear."
[Breakthrough Imminent: Date of Birth Generator]
This entire game is a paid actor what the hell

I just knew you were going to be pleased with finding the empathy shoes.
I know I keep repeating it, but this is a fantastic series. Love how you are able to use the game to springboard into deeper subjects.

That chat with the password repeater always makes me teary. She isn't lonely, she's connected and comfortable :')
Hey Brady, I am not sure if you are aware that you can unlock more slots in your thought cabinet.
Always enjoy your analysis of DE and happy to see a new episode. You're bringing a unique approach and discussion. It's also okay if you need to take breaks or time away. Hope you give yourself enough time for the rest of your life to happen.

don't forget to investigate the big broken stained glass
Pfft, I like the Kim impression at the beginning. And you got his character read spot on lol

you shouldnt forget your thoughts unless youre maxed out on thoughts, or the thought you wanna forget is really getting in your way.
Great content man. Your videos uplift my day and maybe my mental health too. Simply comforting
Don't forget to press print
Not talking about the alcohol abuse locked you out of getting an important thought
OH also - spoilers for something that happens to the beginning of the game if you fail a certain white check that you succeeded:

Wow, you're pretty damn close to bullseye on crabman before seeing even 20% of his dialog. I am impressed.
Weird he didnt get the sober thought
Will you read books, @eurobrady ?

Most TH-camrs miss on books because they seem too boring at first, but maybe it's up your alley
I’m confused, I don’t remember a crab man. Was that after the episode entitled “this hurt way more”? If so, that’s not showing up for me
it was in the episode where he first talks to the 3 inside the tent
@@beyondvioletoh, interesting. Not sure how I missed that. I probably chalked it up to those guys just being too bombed out by the Pale, so I just kinda tossed it from my personal Thought Cabinet 🙂

47:03 CRAB RAVE

- Age is just one of the masks we wear...
BREAKTHROUGH IMMINENT: DATE OF BIRTH GENERATOR
The synchrony of this was crazy hahahah
Good to see you back Brady!
I LOVE how you filled in the gaps for your specific roleplay that the game wouldn't give you an option to say! Also i think it's really in-character
13:45 Especially in Harrys' case - since he is an addict and takes drugs quite frequently, so him hallucinating stuff isn't totally off the table (just think back to that very vivid dream on the first night)

How insane that just after Crab man talks about age being another mask we wear you get Date of Birth Generator completed.
I was missing your videos so much! Love this playthrough

Hell yeah
HAHA CRAB MAN
it's umbelivably unfortunate how the music is muted in many of these videos 😥
I'm so stoked for this, the church is my favourite place. Favourite music too. Recently I caved in and started playing the game again, a 1-1-1-1 run this time, and just yesterday I reached the church!
