    I couldn't care less about what men think of my hair. I find it strange that these guys are so invested in the topic. In women's business...

      Well y'all are what we get to choose from I think your comment is more suitable for homosexual men who aren't interested in women. If y'all don't want to change it, that's kool, it's the same thing if u didn't want to date a guy who had locks or long hair I know plenty of women who's preference is men with short hair clean cut, and that's ok. But for me to say she needs to stay out of men's business would be totally disingenuous and improper especially if u are interested in the opposite sex and I'm interested in attracting the opposite sex and u would prefer to have more men with short hair so u can have a wider range of options. 🤦🏽‍♂️ look men won't sit around complaining about a problem for long it's imbedded in our hormones to recognize something acknowledge it, and solve it. We mentioned it, if y'all don't want to adapt to what we predominantly are sayin we like that's kool, but y'all wonder why we out here fw women with natural hair. Then y'all say "we don't gaf we ain't doing it for men" yet y'all out here wearing weaves of different textures or the same texture of the hair of women lots of black men glorify. Women say men have glorified and championed women with big asses so now every woman is getting bbl's. But y'all don't do it for men??? Then why try to look like what men have glorified?? Also men have only glorified those women for one thing, sex objects just a variety and differ look for a different nut, yall went overboard. 😂😂😂

      I'm not reading all of that. My hair is beautiful, whatever I choose to do with it. The ones that like it are for me. The ones that don't, aren't.

    The funny part is how he tried to seem genuinely concerned cause he said he comes from an African family with a lot of women in it. Sir, please stop. Men don't care about hair, they simply found another way to disqualify black women. He wants to know what kind of hair his children will have. First of all, he already knows what kind of hair his children will have because he can simply look at his own hair.

    Living near the ocean with humidity- my hair grew waist length. When I moved to the desert, I had to learn how to keep my hair from frying in the sun/ heat. It’s only after learning tips from you Ms April - that I have been able to retain the longest my hair has been here in the desert. I am not ashamed of wearing MY protective styles, because I know that my hair is getting a conditioning treatment in braids under my wigs. I am even PROUD to say that I have made a few of my own wigs that are suited to my needs. My younger sister has always had waist length hair - her cosmetology experience has also taught me a great deal. She even has made a personal hair oil that has been a life saver here in the desert. Also being a cancer survivor who went from long hair to being BALD. I feel that every one should be ALLOWED to choose what makes them happy and works for them!!! Love your channel! 💕💕💕💕💕

    Yup more white women compliment me than any other race or sex. And yes having worked in fashion women of all colors use pieces, clip-ins and weaves, not only black women. As to the young lady that said she cannot get the attention of black men, she is 100% correct. As a dark skin woman that had short hair until my 20's and then weaves the attention came from everybody else. I dated Israeli, Indian, South Korean, Irish, Canadian, the whole damn UN. And in my 47 years on this earth how many black men? 5 - Nigerian, Kenyan, Cote d' Ivoire, Haitian and Barbadian. American men were not checking for me! I am relaxed and have grown my hair out to mid-back and a black blonde natural woman I barely know at work hands me a card and said call this lady when you are ready to big chop. I was like excuse me, she said, when you want to cut the damage off your head! Her one inched blonde hair was perfectly natural though! The double standards for the "naturals: to police is insane. Great video, loved it and do more.

    This was such a GREAT video and topic. The obsession with Back woman’s hair is so crazy including the big chop fanatics. Stop telling woman: she should really chop those dead pieces, her hair is so dry, she should just cut it all off, blah blah blah.
    She should do what she WANTS to do with her own freakin hair!

    The fact that we collectively still care is crazy. My husband is black and because he is a MAN he could care less about a female's hair. My hair is natural. All races and genders wear enhancements. Those of us who spent any significant time outside the community know this. I cannot take any man seriously if this is still a talking point or concern among themeselves.

    I wear wigs/weaves because I want to. My hair broke off in handfuls, I didnt know I was anemic for years. Had fibroids for years until they got out of control, hung on to my uterus for too long. Its gone I feel great and my hair is finally flourishing with being healthier and the tips from the youtube natural hair queens. I still wear wigs, weaves braids when I want. Black women do amazing things with our hair and will continue to regardless what anyone says we should or shouldnt do

    Hey Beautiful, that gentleman that spoke so well about self respect pulled at my heart…. I grew up with beautiful black role models.. my mom, grandma & aunts. I am his age early to mid 50’s…. I saw beautiful black women in movies Pam Greer, Diane Carroll… my father praised the beauty of black women constantly… I had
    self confidence growing up… I had a few members of my family that were colorist but they wasn’t around me a lot. I went to a multi cultural elementary, middle and high school so we had diverse textures of hair… I knew a very dark beautiful girl you had naturally blown out hair to her tailbone and the boys loved her….so to see this type of visceral against black women & their natural hair is so sad… I really didn’t know it was so hard for young naturalistas today🙏🏾

    Self hate affects Black people in general but because women are way more affected by the beauty standard than men, Afro textured hair in particular is more of a Black women issue.

    Very interesting. I always loved hair extensions.I am not a big fan of wigs.I also love braids. I stopped wearing curly extensions for a couple of months as I wanted to look more African. I am really happy with this decision. My hair never had volume but it used to grow long until I moved to England. So currently, I wearing braids and I feel incredibly beautiful. My future husband also loves my hair style 😅.
    I also noticed that black males look at me more respectful than when I had hair extensions.
    Unfortunately, the society does not teach black women to love their hair. We are beautiful in so many ways🥰💪

    Don't let the messy bun and sweat pants fool you. Men look at you like you're low maintenance and they don't have to court you or invest.
    I'm from the DMV so black men like the 30 inch bust down. It's a little more superficial out here. They like long straight hair and that's our community beauty standard. It's sad but it's the truth.

    • @sophiam9886
      @sophiam9886 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly! I don't know how women haven't caught on to this. Men see braids, messy buns, and sweats, as women who are easily attainable and low maintenance to keep. That's why all of the m¤les who "like" those styles are broke, ghetto, or low class.

    The second man wasn’t ignorant, he was just cultured. Look at black women in the 70’s they embraced their hair journey. All natural for the most part. Pam, Gina, Angela etc. Black women have to stop buying in to out of culture appearances. You get the most compliments from men (Black) because it’s from the Afrocentric culture. Protect what God blessed you with, not what you bought. You can’t better the beauty God gave His Black women!! And the term brother and sister were used in endearment. The young man said majority of black wings are straighter. True, this standard has come from slave mentality. THE EUROCULTURAL standards of beauty. Love yourselves Black women, and love your Black men.

    • @sophiam9886
      @sophiam9886 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right. Plus, every other race and ethnicity of women wear their own texture of hair when they do wear extensions and wigs. Black women don't. That's how we all know that a huge part of the reason for BW wearing these weaves and wigs is because they are HIDING THEIR HAIR, not "protecting" it.

    The Sonoran Lookin dude should’ve realized his theory on local standards of beauty also apply to Black people. Dreads, braids and all that has always been the norm where I live at. The blonde bob/bob wig crowd look artificial and like “characters.” But I live in a very Black area where people like being Black and are comfortable in their own Black skin. Actually, he might not feel as comfortable around Black folks around here, looking how he look.

    The guy at the 12 minute mark was stating facts. The truth is slightly triggering, but black women are sometimes in denial about how much wigs weave, and extension we wear. It's always "but other women do it" and yes they do, but not to the extent that black women do. Black women will literally spend 200 to 1,000 on a wig/weave very often, that is not the norm in other communities. In the black community you can find 3 out of 5 women wearing fake hair. That sends a negative message to little black boys and girls growing up that our hair isn't good enough. I do see a change now, with the natural hair movement. And this is coming from a woman with kinky hair who used to covet straight hair wigs and weaves.

      You are right sir. Even when other races wear fake hair, it’s their own texture. Weave and wigs is very much a Black culture thing sadly and the mothers pass the self hate down to their daughters while the men are either silent or complicit in the delusion.

    • @dollyrevenge98
      @dollyrevenge98 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree and sadly women will deny it till they die. I live in Paris where I see black women with bad weaves and wigs every day, it's sad that most will think those look better than their own natural hair. The natural hair movement did a lot of good for black women's self-esteem when it comes to hair and I hope one day it will be the norm.
