For real, though, a fight against Prince Mush was something that always felt missing from the original Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (doubly so in that Prince Mush seemingly disappears from the game after chapter 3, with only vague allusions that he's training for a comeback afterward). It's fantastic that not only does the remake rectify this by having him as a bonus boss, but also live up to his reputation as the original Glitz Pit champion! His battle theme is appropriately epic, like if it weren't for the typical Paper Mario synths you hear throughout the game, you'd almost mistake this theme for coming from a completely different game. Props to you, Jonny, for doing this theme justice, and so soon after the remake's release, too!
But seriously how did Grubba manage to beat Mush originally. Must've been a poisoned cake.
@@TheRealChristopherB The remake implies that Rawk Hawk delivered a poisoned cake as usual to Prince Mush and Prince Mush fell for it. Grubba merely pulled some strings while behind the manager's desk and kidnapped Prince Mush that way.
I was one of those fans back then who speculated Prince Mush's fighting moveset back when Paper Mario TTYD was originally released (and my cousin and I played through it). Prince Mush stands there thinking a little too much, but otherwise, I guessed a lot of his moveset right, especially the extreme and constant dodging skills and the fact he has to throw himself into opponents.
I see why Rawk Hawk implicitly poisoned Prince Mush-- he wouldn't have stood a chance against him in a fair and honest fight at all
Honestly gotta be glad it happened now and not before if it happened before it would probably be as easy as most of the fights in the game but now it's the hardest one
He's named Prince Mush cause when he's done with you, that's what you'll be.

…So, anyone else think that Prince Mush might be related to The Master from Paper Mario 64? They both seemingly have the power to go “Super Saiyan”.

this video is the only gameplay i've seen of the fight but it seems like a very deliberate reference. His barrage attack seems almost directly inspired by the last Master fight but with nicer effects.
I think he's The Master's grandson or his greatest pupil who will take over the dojo one day...or both.

Only 30? Later on in the fight, he can do over 100 after powering up 3 times! This truly was a brutal fight!

The key to playing TTYD is having fun, especially with Superguards. You see that Mush guy, he has a second phase where he starts blocking all damage and charging at Mario with dive kicks that will take a boatload of HP per hit.
You gotta figure out when that 2-Frame Window comes and Superguard to knock him off his balance, if you can't Superguard, Mario gets obliterated, *you're gonna have a bad time*

I was running a glass cannon build (not quite Danger Mario because I don't trust my skills with Superguarding THAT much) so you can imagine my fear when I hit the final phase.

That being said, *not* being able to consistently superguard him did make it really hype when I finally did superguard him when he had like 5 HP? So then I pre-emptively celebrated my victory because Ms. Mowz pierces defense with her basic attack.

This battle was the most fun I’ve had with Paper Mario.
It took Prince Mush from a forgettable character to one of my favorites.
The whole WWE Arc of TYD is absolute peak and its ABSOLUTLY is one of the factors I got into wrestling

Yeah I haven't fought him yet, but before I cleared the game I don't even have to try, I saw a video. Man this guy is something different, I tried once to come up with a fitting boss for the arena and even my idea was weaker because I thought it would be to crazy. Prince Mush or as I know him "Dark Toadster" (german name) shows good that Toads aren't necessarily helpless, when they want they can even overcome Mario.

I hadn't actually heard this song before (I was holding off on spoilers for this game purposefully), but damn, you really sold me on it! This track's an absolute banger that really fits the (supposedly, I haven't played the game yet) brutal fight against Prince Mush himself! Off-topic, but it's so cool that you can just fight him, like, I remember watching TTYD videos when I was a kid and seeing Prince Mush be labeled the "greatest fighter" and being a little confused. I feel like I recognize a leitmotif at one point of the track (1:21) , a similar series of notes and instrument to... I don't know what? It reminds me of Mushroom Gorge from Mario Kart Wii for some reason? But I went to re-listen to the track and I don't know if they're really that similar.

Kind of understandable that his new theme is awesome and anticipated. WE also have other Mario game epic themes to be anticipated from long, long ago, even if people barely remember it, such as both Mario and Luigi Paper Jam's boss battle theme "Big Bang!" and FINAL BOSS theme, Shiny RoboBowser/"The Final Battle"

I've listened to this over & over. I still enjoy it. I remember when I tried to take on Prince Mush, I did only 1 damage & I was reduced to mush seconds after that stunt.
