I've carried on for many years. It is after all, a hammer-fired handgun, with a revolver-like trigger pull. Mine is actually lighter then any of my J-frame revolvers.

I recently picked up a nice used Bodyguard at my local shop. Came with the box, paperwork, 2 magazines and the nylon range bag. I buy alot of guns from them, so they let me have it for $144. Someone had just traded it in and they let me have it for what they had in it. I bought 2 more magazines and a Sticky pocket holster for it. I've got several kinds of ammo for it- my wife has a Taurus 380 and I had a Glock 42 for my 380. I like Glocks but the Glock was just too big for a pocket gun. And the Smith came with nice metal sights, not plastic. And I like the option of having a safety. I love my Smith 642 38 snub. But the 380 is lighter, smaller and holds more shots. I've been grabbing the little 380 more and more instead of the 38 when I go out. The Bodyguard also makes a great small gun to carry around the house. It's been taking my NAA 22 LR mini revolvers place on that role. Oh, mine is the later M&P model without the laser, which I don't really want anyway. Does your Bodyguard like any particular ammo better than others ?

@@shadowwolf9503 I'd snatch up another one in a heartbeat for $144. Mine has never been ammo picky. I carry it with Federal HST or Hydra-Shok. I've never tried HST Punch or Hydra-Shok Deep in it, but both do sound interesting.

@@jaydee5156 Yeah, I just couldn't turn the Bodyguard down for the price. I'm a Smith guy anyway. I sold my Glock 380 after I picked up the Smith. I really like it's features much better. Stainless slide, barrel and guide rod, a safety, real- metal sights and smaller and lighter than the Glock. And Smith has great customer service. I called them last week to order a new guide rod and recoil springs. I like to change these out anytime I get a used auto. They quickly sent them to me- and at no charge ! Just great service !

I have one of the originals. The only 2 complaints I have is 1) the Insight laser eats batteries. 2) that trigger is loooooong. Other than that it is the perfect pocket pistol. I consider it a get off me gun so I can get the full grown ones if needed.

Had one for years and then gave it to my son when he moved into new apartment. Found another, slightly used, $237 out the door at my LGS last month. All the micro 9mm are making these little .380s more affordable used.

I own both the Max and the Bodyguard. Great little pistols. Each one has it's good and bad points but you really can't go wrong with either one for a pocket carry gun. I bought my Bodyguard first, and later picked up the LCP Max. No complaints about either pistol, both are so easy to carry you almost forget you have them on you.

I have owned and carried a M&P Bodyguard 380 with a Crimson Trace Green Laser. I prefer double strike capability for pocket sized semi-automatic pistols.
With the fact that most .380acp hollow point rounds fail to expand fully and when they do expand fully they do not adequately penetrate. I "CHOOSE" to carry "Flat Nosed, Solid Rounds", which deflect less that round nose bullets.

I’ve had a few of these! Pretty much hated everything about it. I have been carrying a Kahr p380 in a Vedder pocket locker which just disappears in front pocket. Been considering a Glock 42 but I know it’s a bit larger. Only other options are lcp’s which are junk in my opinion. I had a LCP max that would rust just sitting in the safe. Only other option is this bodyguard. Haha. May be in my pockets again soon

Traded in my Taurus g3c for a used bodyguard 380 w insight laser for a total of $25. Love my hellcat pro 9mm and love pockets and saw myself using/practicing with this more than the Taurus since I’ve grown as a shooter and prefer a more quality 9mm.

I bought one without laser, which I think is worthless for what the gun is intended for, years ago new, for $250 on black friday. Great shooter. Got some Gold Dots for it back then cheap. If I didn't have them I would be running flat nose FMJs. A short stroke trigger job is a game changer. That and a plus 1 mag extension makes gripping the gun much better. Even with the trigger job the external safety is a waste. It can be removed and a block put in its place. There are much better options at the current price point... like a Canik.

@@colbrapaintingny3219 I own both and love them both. Even though the Bodyguard has less capacity, it's a little bit thinner and is less bulky for pocket carry. Not by a lot, but it's noticeable in my DeSantis pocket holster. Some like to carry these without a pocket holster, whatever floats your boat. I prefer to keep the trigger covered for safety. Mine shoots very well and so does my Max. The trigger pull on the Bodyguard is a bit long and heavy, but this makes it safer to pocket carry. Both are nice pocket .380's. A side note....the sights on both pistols are cross compatible. You could install the night sights from a Max on your Bodyguard, they fit the dove tails in the slide.
