  • Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 w/Laser review includes a list of pros and cons and why this pocket carry micro is loved by some and hated by others. With its slide lock, frame safety, frame lock-back on last round fired, driftable steel sights, double action trigger and built-in laser system, the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 offers bigger gun features on a small pocket carry pistol. Includes demonstrations of disassembly and reassembly of the S&W Bodyguard 380. The micro size S&W Bodyguard 380 with its long trigger pull and thumb safety, offers not only the ability to easily conceal this weapon, but to do so safely.

    Excellent review and a fair treatment of this excellent pistol. I just got mine yesterday with the laser and I selected this after a LOT of research. I've been around guns my entire life (am now 68 yo). and as things have become more dangerous these last few years I have been carrying for a while now. Every gun has a primary purpose and is specifically designed for that purpose. This pistol is a defensive carry gun at close range. I have reached the point where I don't want to carry a striker fired gun or even a SA (e.g., 1911) hammer fired gun. This pistol checks almost all of the boxes for me personally - pocket sized, reliable, and with multiple safety features built in including 380acp, DAO, thumb safety. The CT laser is a plus. It may sound counter intuitive but the more experienced and proficient I have become with my EDC, the more I have moved to these features. There are way too many so-called experts out there that are pushing carry guns without the safety features, which only promotes greater likelihood of an accidental discharge - especially by new, or inexperienced gun owners. Think about the great expanse of time you will carry this weapon, and then the brief instant when you may need to defend your life. I favor the odds of carrying a safe pistol in lieu of a pistol with these safe features.

    The M+P Bodyguard is a wonderful conceal carry firearm n will just disappear in the pocket n its extremely safe with the DA trigger pull. This gun will not allow for a negligent discharge -love this as EDC

      You've got a good point there. While you hear complaints about the Bodyguard's trigger, it was designed that way for safe carry. Thanks for taking the time to comment and thanks for watching. Great review. Bought mine in June 2011. When it comes to my micro carry option this has always been my go to choice. Thumb lock slide safeties are a non issue for me and I actually prefer double action in my pocket guns. My wife carries the LCP II and I have plenty of experience with it but still prefer the Bodyguard. IMO the laser is pretty much useless but it was not an option, that I know of, back in 2011.

      Thanks for watching and thanks for the positive feedback. I've had good experiences with the Bodyguard too, and also agree that the laser is pretty much useless. Wish that I had found one without because the CT grip activated add-on might have made this gun much more effective overall. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe. That was a very good review. I've owned my Bodyguard (no laser) since 2018, and I carry it at my 4 o'clock, in a Kydex, IWB holster. I do have the pinkie extension on it, and with my medium sized hands, I can really get a much better grip on the gun, than with my DeSantis pocket holster...but, I do use both. You're right about the frame safety, but mine is so stiff, and it's so minimalist to the frame, that I don't engage it anyway...depending on the long DAO trigger, and (of course) always keeping the gun holstered and trigger guard covered. With that 10# pull, and holstered, I simply don't worry about the trigger accidentally being pulled. But, my first firearms were revolvers, also. Thus, I've had that previous experience of a DA trigger. And, at seven yards, I manage respectable groupings. At three yards, I'm "dead eye". I struggle with the disassembly and reassembly, also, (75 year old hands) but you had a couple of good tips there, which I'll employ next time. Got about 300 rounds through it to date...all sorts of ammo, and four different JHPs, which are my carry rounds. No, not a whole lot of fun to shoot, but a Hogue grip helped a lot, and it's a very nice little companion for EDC. It is usually on my belt every day, when I'm working in the yard, or around the house. Often I'm oblivious to even having it on my person. My only wish is that it had more capacity. When S&W finally brings out a "Bodyguard Plus", I'm sure I'll be in line for one of those, too. Thanks again for the thorough, non-hysterical, low volume video. Very useful. I have to admit being mesmerized by the Ruger LCP Max, mostly due to the stack-and-a-half capacity, but the Bodyguard makes a very fine choice also, as your video bears out.

      Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback. Also, the detailed experience you related with your Bodyguard 380 should be very useful to anyone considering one for EDC. I loved this little gun and shoot it well.
    My problem is the mag get released when I pull the trigger. I was going to send it back after contacting S&W but when I slowed it down and paid attention, I hit the mag release when firing.
    I like it enough that I'm going to switch it to other side. But bought an LCP Max and never looked back.

      @mickmacstabletopreviews8466  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard others have had that same problem. The mag release is in just the right place and juts out a bit and if your right thumb hits it the mag can drop. This can be a problems especially for those of us with long fingers. You'd think I'd have the same problem with my SIG P238, but the mag release is stiffer and I've never had that happen. Also, it's been suggested that a Hogue Grip Sleeve will solve that problem. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. These are also available in a no manual safety version.

      That is true. See 4:09 and even better at 5:15. Although in this video I'm a bit unclear about its availability, the S&W M&P 10265 does indeed come without the manual safety for about $330 (5:15 upper middle photo). I would imagine it would. I've added quite a few Hogue grips and they always improve the guns for me. The Bodyguard is one I've decided to leave as it is so I have at least one pocket gun that is thinner, just in case I have the need. Thanks for watching and thanks for the positive comment. I love Smiths but I don't care for polymer firearms.

    • @mickmacstabletopreviews8466

      Not my preference either. My first polymer firearm was the S&W M&P Compact 9. I'll admit it softened my perspective. Still, I'll go for a metal gun first given the choice.
