  • A full recap of my trip to LA! In this video I’m giving you a peek into what it is like to be an intuitive eater on vacation. No guilt or stress or anxiety over the food. Just enjoying and making memories! Be sure to leave a comment on this video letting me know what you think of this vlog and if you want to see more!
    Note: this isn’t a totally full weekend of eating- had some other snackies here and there!
    My fave places we went that I’d recommend going:
    Salt & Straw Ice Cream
    Sur Restaurant (my fave of the Vanderpump ones)
    Sidecar Donuts (a must!)
    Urth Cafe

    I used to compare my hunger to my partner's. I love that you included that! Great insight!

    I’m going away for 4 days tomorrow and this video was perfect - I’m always in my routine at home and going away causes anxiety- not knowing what’s going to be there in terms of food or what times I’ll be able to eat. But now I feel way calmer haha also what you said about sadness when something is over - that’s huge! You’re so right - everything ends at some point but like you said there is going to be more opportunities in the future - more meals, more books to read, more shows to watch, more coffee to drink haha I just realized I’m sad my coffee is over every single day but I don’t drink 50 just because I don’t want it to end because I know I’ll probably end up sick 😂 wow big realization - definitely something to remind myself whenever I want to keep eating just to keep tasting food.

    I love this and found it super helpful. I'm going on a trip to one of my favorite food cities (Atlanta) next week. I always either go wild and eat way too much or pick at food because I want to try everything but feel guilty. This will be my first time Intuitive Eating and I'm genuinely looking forward to the freedom to enjoy the city and enjoy the food without worrying about every time I eat or when do I have to eat.

      So exciting!! You can do it! And remember, you can always try to recreate a meal when you get back home-that's what I always do when I find something I really love but know I won't be able to have it again for a while. I've heard Atlanta has an amazing food scene!

    Yes! Honoring my hunger whether it’s more or less than who I’m with is definitely something I’m working on. Sounds like that’s a common thought those of us with food rules battle with.

    Loved this video, thanks Colleen ☺️ will you do a video around honouring cravings. I worry that I eat too much chocolate as I probably have half a large bar of chocolate most days, I love it! I only eat it until I am statutory that I have had enough, don't binge on it and I don't feel uncomfortable in my body after eating it but I do feel guilty about it sometimes and worry that I will gain weight. I eat healthy generally otherwise, fruit, veg, etc, fats and carbs. I don't count calories or macros but worry if I should try to ignore or substitute my chocolate cravings! Xx

    • @ColleenChristensen
      @ColleenChristensen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Regina! The more you deny your cravings, the more desperately you're going to want it and it may even lead to bingeing so I'm a big fan of enjoying the chocolate! 💖

    I love how realistic and casual this was. The hardest thing about vacation for me is not eating enough fruits and veggies throughout the day. I try to pack dried/freeze-dried fruit and carrots because fresh produce isn't exactly portable. Also, I almost always order the "healthiest" menu item instead of what I actually want. Hope I can get to a more freeing place someday. Trips would be so much more memorable and fun if I could quiet the calorie-obsessed brain and constant body comparison. So happy you guys had a good time:)

    • @ColleenChristensen
      @ColleenChristensen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Miss! Yes, absolutely! That's why we stopped at a grocery store and stocked the fridge with a few staples like yogurt, fruit, etc. so I could make sure my body was getting what it was craving and needed and I was still able to order exactly what I wanted off the menu! Craving fruits and veggies after traveling is super super common!

    What did you do with your left over food from your last meal before flying back home? I never know what to do except to leave the rest behind or force myself to finish it and then become overstuffed. How do I feel comfortable leaving food behind?

    • @ColleenChristensen
      @ColleenChristensen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sheryl! Sometimes that's just the reality of the situation when you're traveling, you can't always save it for later. If I have a really yummy meal I make a mental note to recreate it at home so I don't overeat or feel guilty for wasting it.

    I am always amazed at how much you can eat during the day.....I eat 3 meals a day and never am hungry in between meals ...I'm working on my intuitive eating but never get hungry between meals. Was that the same for you when you started? I am 53 and if I ate that much I'm not sure I wouldn't gain an unhealthy amount of weight for my frame.

      It can take time to tune into your hunger cues and everyone's body is so different! What my body needs is different than yours, my husbands, friends, etc, you know!? Here's a blog post I have about signs of hunger that could be different than actual tummy rumbles! colleenchristensennutrition.com/signs-of-hunger/

    I live in Hollywood and SUR is my favorite! 😋I just went there last week with my mom and got the goat cheese balls, and we met Peter and Guillermo!! 🤗 I enjoyed this Vlog but I think the term “perfect fullness” is a bit problematic. Sometimes you do eat past fullness because you’re on vacation, your out with friends, it’s a special type of food you don’t always have, etc. - there are so many different reasons. It just seems that you are constantly asking yourself if you’re full or not and assessing where your hunger is instead of just being present and enjoying yourself. Something just still feels very much controlled at times watching it back in my opinion. But I get the intention behind what you’re saying and I’m definitely NOT a fan of food rules!
