In a wide-ranging interview about his new book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors, Tom Bower argues that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have to ‘give up’ their royal status as they’re ‘burning [it] out pretty fast now’. The biography examines Meghan Markle’s complex early family life and the work she put in to establish herself as a successful actress. Bower says that after looking at the Duchess of Sussex’s past, and speaking to ex-friends and colleague, the picture that emerged of Meghan was one of a ‘schemer’. Yes, her drive and ambition had propelled her to success and fortune, but it came at the expense of many personal relationships. It was this side to her character that made people worry about the future of her marriage to Harry.

I never heard of her before Hazbeen entered her life. Period. She’s not a “Starlet” she’s not famous, she’s not even a Hollywood participant. She was a struggling actress who was a cable actress in Canada. She did a Hallmark romcom, which, well that channel is reserved for teenagers & overweight middle class stay at home moms.

Excellent interview. However I wish Mr. Bower would refrain from referring to Meghan as being in “Hollywood”. She was not a Hollywood actress - she was 6th on the call sheet of a relatively unknown cable TV show filmed in Canada. I live about 5 hours from Toronto, and I never heard of her. She was largely rejected by Hollywood and that’s why she went to England - to try to reinvent herself and find a rich connected husband.

I'm African and my brother married an Italian woman, before they had children we spoke openly and happily about the different characteristics we thought they'd have once they were born. Neither side carries undesirable features, why would discussing that be considered insulting or taboo?
I married a man from a different tribe and because we look different, the same conversations were had about what our children would look like and what we would like to pass down to them. Meghan seems to find or create problems wherever she goes and this was a classic example of her doing it.

MM's never been a world global star. She went from being mostly unknown to being well known worldwide. When you're a star, you're usually admired and liked and this doesn't remotely apply to her.
And the irony is she could have been a loved star, with incredible privilege/lifestyle, if she had put in the work as a serving Royal with a modest attitude. Her ambitions, unwillingness to fit in, or take direction, greed, and her instincts have worked against the very thing she seeks. It was never enough for her. Not that she could be warned by friends. And she never wanted to work especially with the little people. It was astounding how she thought she should and could change the monarchy, as if she knew what was best/ required. She was contrary to all that was required for Royal life, but raced in, and did as she liked. Not respecting or considering how that may affect the institution/ Royal family. Deny all the help offered. The quick welcome. Then blames them all, including the UK! She has a lot of nerve.

If she really wants to run for ANY public office, she needs to understand that the public will scrutinize her and her past. If she is found presenting false fronts and cannot manage her own affairs, how can she be trusted with a city, county, or state? I love Tom's candidness and balance take on his sources. And yeah, Meghan's record in uttering lies after lies is just commonplace, that whatever she says now, you just doubt.
I've watched all the interviews done so far after the book's release, and this has been my favorite. Went deep into debunking important aspects of the book.
I liked what motivated Bower to write this book, one will say he's bias, I mean after all he's a monarchist, but in way he does find Megan an interest woman, and admires the fact she is an ambitious person, nothing wrong with that, but he disapproves how she got where she is now, all the people who once trusted and loved her and how she ditched and hurt them along the way, including the People of the UK and the Royal Family. Bower has perfectly described her in one single word... RUTHLESS!

I seriously doubt that Meghan would want an ELECTED government official job, like congresswoman or senator. That would require a thick skin, hard work ethic without a big salary and not a lot of glamour. I think she’s angling more for a political appointment, as maybe an ambassadorship. That way she could still go to fancy galas, host and attend dinner parties and have lots of photo-ops while representing whatever position she wants…. and have her staff (funded by the tax payers!) do the less “fun” kind of work that the job would also require.
I think she's still campaigning for an appointment to the UN. She could network and get away with a lot more as a diplomat than as a politician
Yes, but she had an incredible opportunity to be a more informal ambassador, but arguably MUCH more publicly visible as a working Royal, Duchess, & wife to the King’s son (VERY important roles), & considered them so unimportant, that she simply walked away. Other official diplomatic roles are MUCH less visible. Narcissists can never be happy & only know how to destroy the lives of others….how much more proof does anyone need?

Bower said it himself, Meghan never wanted to live in the UK. Her plan was always to head back to America, and once there use her newfound fame, to become a Hollywood A list star. But no one In A list circles wants anything to do with them, and rightly so!

Great interview. It's refreshing to see the situation between H & MM & the RF candidly portraid. If H & MM have issues w/the narrative, they are certainly free to explain. I'm positive the TV presenters will be lining up for that interview. Can't wait.

Although Tom didn't say about the moonbumps, he dropped hints throughout the book, such as 'harrys daughter' and doria and her mother. Doria's mother or megans mother? Look out for those hints and what's not said at the time of writing. Fascinating

@@Openyoureyez83 The author had to leave a lot out he has said. He has to be able to prove his statements. Many people would not talk. Or he only had one source. And he wanted to have multiple sources, to safeguard him from being sued.
I'm American and I think that MM never was pregnant. I also would have liked the book to talk about that (I just got my book Tuesday afternoon but yesterday was my 61st birthday... Same as Diana would be lol so I haven't started it yet).
But I HAVE been listening to The Royal Grift reading it and a couple times HG Tudor's reading..
That said, I believe the reason why Tom Bower did NOT address the moonbump situation is PRIVACY LAWS regarding HEALTH CARE. Here we have "HIPPA" (it stands for: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) . It is a law specifically about how you cannot talk to anybody but the person who is the patient, unless the patient gives written permission. It's very strict. I'm not sure how it is in the UK but they kept that first "birth" all on the down-low/ very hush hush, didn't they?

It is my belief that what she wants is the status and priviledges (IPP status being one of them) that an ambassador of UN, UNICEF or other big organization would bring. In my humble opinion, she is too lazy to work hard for something, she expects the goods for little or no efforts on her part.
@@journeysintothelight2133 I too have wondered if she is work shy. That combined with an obvious lack of talent is the reason she only ever made it to an obscure Canadian cable tv soap. I doubt if Harry’s coattails will prove the path to success in the long run.

I hope this book will encourage other journalists to dig deeper into Markle’s shenanigan and toxic lies before she does more hurt and harm to the Royal family and to more others on her way to fame and fortune. 13:05 yes true! Oprah didn’t even clarify when the audience right away picked up the difference in their answers. She knew that it was inconsistent yet she didn’t Atleast ask harry about it. That’s why oprah was highly criticized! The scene was that race issue was raised when Harry wasn’t there. MM took that window of opportunity to criticize the royal family.
When Harry's mother met with Oprah at Kensington palace as Oprah wanted to interview her , Diana said she was just out for sensationalism so Oprah didnt get her interview ,

i don't think they will come through on ANY of their upcoming "projects". MM's "podcast" just seemed so ludicrous that I can't see it going forward. Netflix talks a good story, but I get a sense of confusion, murkiness, and an unwillingness to take any direction at all (MM believing she knows it all already). Surely Netflix and Spotify will very soon give them the heave-ho. In not producing anything of value, they must be in breach of contract.
It is taking them so long to produce anything that I don't believe they ever will. Maybe Netflix and Spotify will pay them off and release them from the contract.
