In 2019, I was the owner of a 2004 Cape Horn smaller than your 31T. The heavy fibreglas layup and the vinyl ester resin made for a strong hull. I repowered mine with Suzuki at the maximum rated horsepower and was glad I did. I recommend that you install the maximum rated horsepower. These boats are heavy and they LOVE power. The only downside was not enough dedicated storage compartments.
I thought I had a bad experience with a new boat and trailer! Headed home, approaching a toll plaza and watched a trailer tire and wheel go flying by! Took a little "MacGivering", but managed to rob from Peter to pay Paul with lug nuts off the truck and we were on our way. Thank God the tire and wheel didn't cause an accident or hit another vehicle. So glad your new baby didn't go up in flames!!!! Best of luck with her! Looking forward to the rebuild and even more for the water trials! HNY
Those old cape horn boats are tough...but really wet. No bow flare at all. Congrats on the new boat. She'll last you a long time. I've been going out on a friends 90s 28 for years and its on its 3rd repower. He hasn't had to do much to the hull in the way of repairs. We're starting to think about checking out the fuel tanks.
Happy new year brother, l haven't been getting notifications, god knows why, just wanted to say Happy New Year, l'll watch this tomorrow morning, take care man.
Samn boats LOL cant even get a new boat home before things break . I been there done that !!! Glad you made it home safe !! Happy new year to you and the fam !
I wish i could afford a bigger boat 😆. I just picked up a 19 Hydra Sport. I'm about to put a new motor on it and start getting it ready for this year. I love it because it's got a huge fuel tank cause i have every intention of taking it to the canyon. Hopefully next fall is like this one cause we are still destroying bluefin off NJ.
@JackedUpFishing mines a 89 hull I've never even been on one but have herd nothing but good things. I run a 35 hammercat for a private owner I might have to reach out to you this spring he wants to trailer it over and make a Bahamas run. We typically run 100-200 miles in the gulf so the run im not worried about but never been to the Bahamas or know much about the logistics. I watched your videos looks like you've done it a time or 2 🤙
Great video, I just bought a 32 Regulator and she looked pretty good, Got a decent deal on the boat with older Verados, and after complete refit with all new steering, controls, Yamahas, etc, I ended up having close to 200k which was more than I wanted to spend but re powers are $$$.... lol.
Yeah I hear ya. I will be doing a complete breakdown of the build cost as well. But I picked the boat up fro 71k, pretty much sold everything off of it and now have approximately 56k into it now. Should be a fun build.
@@JackedUpFishingwow I can’t believe you found one for 71k. That’s crazy good deal! I have a 2007 31T with twin 2017 Yamaha 300’s on her and love the boat. Can’t wait to see what you do.
Thanks man! This wind and weather has been terrible. Went out to check out lights and blew lower unit. Just got a new motor on and she is ready to go. So any day now
I've been on Cape Horns my entire life. Family boats 21,24,31, and I own a 17 bay. Bullet proof hulls. Built to fish! Congrats brother!
Awesome! I had a 31t before my Seahunter and loved it
Grats on the new boat! Looking forward to watching you work on it.
Thanks man! Lotta work

Actually the 31T is one of the driest rides I have even been on. But you are correct the 27 and 28s and super wet
Now I know where all the Cape Horn parts I keep seeing for sale are coming from, looking forward to seeing the boat when you are done!
