- It’s a very special NUFC Thursday Show this week. Instead of me giving my thoughts on a number of transfer links, I’ve got you an expert view on one that could be very genuine.
As we know, Newcastle are interested in a striker this summer. One who is on their list is Lille’s Canadian Jonathan David.
Former Newcastle defender Steve Caldwell worked with David during his time with as assistant to Consett-born ex-Canada boss John Herdman.
Steve tells me about David’s development, personality and immediate future.

It sounds like he maybe better going to a mid-table Premier team for his next move.
Yes, only 24, but for me that has a but.
If he was 22, more time to develop/change his game play. We need IMO someone who's more ready to effectively challenge Isak.
Yet, for a £20m'ish buy ...
For me, as Steve said, he would be ideal as an alternative to Isak; can get up to speed with PL away from immediate pressure. But great to get an honest appraisal from someone who knows him very well.
