AMANDA STAVELEY TO LEAVE NUFC - Why this could be HUGE NEWS for Newcastle and what happens next…
It's hard to know if Tonali's disappointing performance was his fault or if it was a result of him being asked to play deeper. I don't know much about his days at Milan but from what I've seen of him I think he probably thrives when being able to run into space a bit more and play at a high tempo, rather than trudging around against a Dyche block.
It's disappointing that Howe hasn't progressed the team. relying on Wilson to keep fit and not signing a creative forward is a major problem
One for the xG W@nkers 😂 we played some nice stuff at times. Everton gave us a lot of space. It seems like a similar issue we had 22/23 lots of half chances but struggle to create against a low block.
Progress away from home, not too bad of a display.
Obviously I know the game finished 0-0… long day 😂
For any fans who've been to spurs, arsenal or the MCG in Melbourne it's possible to have a world class stadium on the outskirts of a City Centre and for people to still enjoy the pubs!
Love people saying leazes park when they have no idea that it's a listed park 😂. Also the assumption that a new stadium means instant success.
By the time it s finished the fans will have started a Saudi out campaign and we'll be back to people giving up their season tickets 🤣
Hi Harry i love St James' started going in the late 70s and the ground has changed so much in that time and with all the logistics the Euros in 2028, where would we play while the kind of work needed takes place. For me people will adapt the ideal is a new ground at leazes park to keep that community feel and the club staying as the heart beat of the city. Love the channel keep up the good work.
Thanks Tony!
YesThe Joe's on the left in the heavy set, lots of running, think this is the away dynamic we missed last season.
Barnes player of the month and 3 goals in 4 games and you drop him!!!
Worth it to shift Joelinton to LW imo.
@@DavidSelwyin-z3k as Harry said we need to move away from a starting 11 and think of it as a game for 16 players. Just like cricket where you have batsmen with different skills and styles playing across the order.
@@harrydecosemo8203 with this change to the 16 I'm yet to see a coach embrace it tactically- there's a real opportunity for innovation but you have to take risks to innovate
Totally agree with your thoughts on team selection Harry. We know it won't happen though!
What do you make of my team for Everton? 👇🏼
I like the team Harry, completely agree with your thinking. I can't see Howe changing the team that played against City however (for better or worse, given the wildly different opposition playing styles). Not convinced by Osula starting against Everton away, I think it would be tough for him, Goodison is a difficult place to play football. I think not having that clinical edge up front may be our downfall here.
@@123darwent Yeah I’m not sure I can see it happening either!
Also a big thanks Harry - finally a place for fans who appreciate critical thinking and welcome other views and observations of other fans. This show covers all the shades of grey between black & white!
Really enjoy your contributions mate!
Another great chat Harry- let's get this channel growing.
This channel deserves more subs , really good chat and Insight ⚫⚪ Need to get it shared
That’s really kind of you Andy, thank you.
I agree with a lot of your points. Joelintons ability to tactically adapt his position as he did against City is a real strength and would suggest he’d be a good 6 know could drop into a back 5 when needed. However, a good 6 in modern football needs to be press proof and have a good passing range, 2 things that are not strengths of Joelinton. We do need to move to a possession style of football, the high press is only sustainable for 3 years before the intensity leads to a higher rate of injuries, it hit us earlier due to our weak squad and the extra games from qualifying for CL early. Ideally as a team we need an elite level 6 to free up Bruno and Tonali as 8s or we need a 10 with both Bruno and Tonali playing a double pivot. I suspected Joelinton might be sacrificed in the future when we make that transition. I just didn’t expect us to try and transition to a possession based team this year. We have less games this year so we should be able to cope with a higher intensity playstyle as the players get more rest between games, it’s more important to try and reach Europe again than experimenting with a new style. Maybe try and get top 6 (ideally CL again) and aim to move to that possession based style next season after being able to bring in a few more players that are better suited to that style.
Joelinton gets caught in possession far too often on the halfway line. He is unaware of the lack of time and space he has.
However talks about his best 11 when it should be best 16. Given the high intensity play, in game player rotation is a major advantage and should be a key part of game tactics- bringing 3 players on at 92 mins to slow the game is old school thinking
I think we looked better with Gordon down the middle. When Isak is fit I hope we see Gordon more central and we use Joelinton on the left. I know formations change during games but we looked so much more compact against City - it was nufc circa 2023
Interestingly, for 15 minutes of the forest game until Willock became injured, Joelinton played as a 6. Would suggest to me Howe’s intent and Joelinton alternative, when resting Bruno.
Did you see the youtube video "How Newcastle United's NEW Tactic STOPPED Man City" by Zekko Football Joelinton was a major part of this analysis
Yeah it was great to see how compact we were in the middle. Not a criticism of Gordon, but he doesn't seem to have the discipline to hold that shape in defence. I really think he is best as a no10
Certainly gives food for thought. If he can't adapt then presumably his inclusion on the team will signify a certain type of play which the opposition will soon understand.
Do you agree with my assessment of Joelinton’s future? 👇🏼
Thanks for hosting this chat Harry - so refreshing to have some balanced conversations and critical thinking on the team and off field challenges. It was really refreshing to get some perspectives and things I hadn't considered- especially the point about what makes Pep and Fergie different to Wenger. And the challenges Liverpool and Dortmund faced with Klopp. Great content and channel
This match will certainly let us know where we are as a team.
I don't share your confidence- performances at home have been woeful, despite gifting possession and sitting deep. I can't see our luck against Southampton and Spurs following to this game. If we can get a result and a performance it could get some belief and confidence into the team. We could get humiliated which could see us spiraling towards a full on crisis. It feels like we're on a knife edge.
Knife edge is fair. There’s a lot of speculation in this confidence, but evidence too. I think City are weaker than they were on either of their last two visits, but there’s a lot of reaching to say NUFC can take advantage.
@@harrydecosemo8203 haaland against our defence- the last two home games we couldn't handle Diaz, but he was useless. And spurs didn't have a striker. I've seen nothing since to suggest our defence has improved and our midfield isn't competitive- Rodri missing won't make a difference as we will concede territory and possession
Do you think Newcastle can get a result vs Man City? 👇🏼
We need to get back to intensity especially v Man City
Great video Harry - your comments about expectation without momentum are spot on. When you talked about Howe and the issues with the team- it feels familiar to Southgate in the euros.
Do you agree that Newcastle are suffering from an identity crisis? 👇🏼
Has Howe lost the dressing room- lots made about Mitchell. Very little said about Howe stripping Trippier of the captaincy. I wonder if that's having a bigger impact on performance? We look like we did when Howe first took over, slow, sloppy, disorganised, unable to control or pass the ball. Teams don't fear us and are going for the jugular.
The midfield is a mess!!! Bruno and joelinton need dropping! We need a defensive midfielder in front of the back 4! Plus Howe's failure to play Tonali is criminal! Gordon needs to go if he does not want to play for Newcastle!!! Howe is on borrowed time...tactically he is very naive!!
I think you can have prolonged periods of underperformance without that being indicative of a much wider more serious issue. Human psychology isnt as easy as professional psychologists of average intelligence and skill might have you believe. Granted it may become a serious problem IF Eddie cant turn it around, in which case personnel will need to be changed.
Osula was brought in as third striker. If he still can't get a game when the other two are knackered, what was the point of wasting the £15million on him?
Isak will start up front.
Your voice audio is too quiet imo
Thanks will work on that.
You would think Osula needs to play some minutes this weekend. Think he could do well, looked a handful.
Indeed. We are taking risks whatever we do and this seems like one worth taking.
Do you agree with my opinion on Isak’s replacement for Fulham if he’s injured? 👇🏼
Agree we are not good in posession.
Its called grinding out results . all the best teams do it when they are not on top form. why should we be any different?
The best teams also play well in most of the games they win. It’s great they can grind out results but eventually there needs to be a good performance somewhere and there hasn’t been one yet. That’s concerning.
@@harrydecosemo8203 yeah thats what i said but it seems a bit stupid for people to be complaining when we have had the best start in 24 years even though we haven`t played well.
Willy Arsolo can grind out results
Willock and Barnes made the difference for me. Their combination play gives us something we haven't had down the left since we played Willock and Joelinton down the left. We clearly haven't adapted our attacking play which was heavily dependent on Trippier/Miggy/Bruno combination. We look so disjointed and Isak looks so isolated. Can't help but think Gordon is the issue - I'm arguing with myself just saying that, but he does seem single minded. What do you think Harry?
There’s definite teething issues. But I agree that there are good combinations and I’ve always thought NUFC have looked at their best when Willock is in the team, even if he isn’t a part of the ‘strongest XI’. Think I said in this that I’d have Barnes left/Gordon right. Probably best the other way around.
Joelinton virtually played Southampton on his own, one of the best performances I've seen from him in a long time. Unfortunately he just hasn't been as effective since then. By his own high standards he hasn't played well at all.
Longstaff and joelinton have been abysmal, they refuse to play our lightning fast forwards in behind. We are slow predictable sideways and backwards team these days amd when the forward pass comes its usually too late or it gets intercepted.
Eddie Howe will never rush players back after injury or suspension. Tonnali hasn't played for ten months . Easing him in gently makes sense.
He is easing Willy Arsolo in gently
Deeeeeply wise !
What did you make of NUFC’s performance at Wolves? 👇🏼
You wouldn't have started Tonali. Bunce wouldn't let you.
I want to see success and trophies. I just don't believe Eddie Howe is the man to do it. Spot on observations Harry, I agree with everything you've said.
If Mitchell was to walk out this will be a disaster....good luck finding any other top level DOF to replace him. Who the hell will want to work with Howe after he's seen off two of England's best for that role. I respect Howe for all he's done so far but he needs to know his role in the new structure of the club. If one of Howe & Mitchell were to leave I think it would be easier to find a new top manager than a new DOF. Howe needs to understand he is no longer working in a club like Bournemouth circa 2015.....he is just the coach.
Mitchell is a clown and a snake.
WTF - a common sense comment! 😂 I feel like I've been taking crazy pills reading fans comments. Thanks my sanity is restored ❤
If Mitchell walks/gets let go it would be a pr disaster for the club, we've already had one director of football walk because of power plays in the club not to mention Dougie Freedman knocking us back. Two sporting directors and a failed approach in 3 years won't look good in the football world.
Fuck what it "looks" like or what anyone thinks.
@@mojebi3804 😂 good point mate
