Hi mate, thank you for watching. There will be videos coming eventually but I have to be honest I have 2 other channels both of which are monetised so focus is there currently as I'd love to make TH-cam a full-time thing one day. I absolutely have ambitions to return to making vids on this channel as football is and always will be my first love, stay tuned over the next few months.
This is one of the reasons why we have the 50 +1 rule here in Germany. Investors or owners can't own more than 49% of the club and the fans always have the majority
I love the idea of going towards fan ownership, and from little I've seen of it, 50+1 seems like a good compromise... On the other hand though, there doesn't seem to be much to be done when Organisations like Red Bull comes along
I am from Latvia and I got this video in my recommendations. I'm a footy fan, but had no idea why would I get this vid. And then...wow. Yeah. This is madness.
I remember in the 90s, we had the team invite one of the class of the school I went to, to train with them, I wasn’t into football back than, and though I cant remember the players names, I will never forget the kindness they showed. I will always be thankful. It’s sad to see what they became in the years that followed. I was so glad when they came back, even though they had to rebrand.
This is good for a first video, there are a few bits I would've edited out like slight mixups in the narration but nothing big tbh. Very solid effort overall and a comprehensive view of an obscure story
Can't believe how low your viewer count is. It's a really good quality. My only criticism is the sound quality. But otherwise awesome work 👏 👌. Best of luck against hitc7s and the other monster channels. You need to set yourself apart...somehow. Your quite funny 😁
Thanks man, this was actually the first ever video I made but I have re-uploaded it here onto a football focused channel. Since recording this I have upgrade my mic from the £7 atrocity you can hear on this one lol!
I remember seeing the name Barry Town in the newspaper when checking the early round European draws every year to see who the Irish clubs would be playing back in the 90s.
great video mate, was just wondering if you could look into doing a video on the owner of Chester City in the late 90s / Early 2000s. It's a similar situation and I think it would make a great watch, brilliant video again :)
Hearts supporter here. We also had a destructive owner, but thanks to the interventional of an inspirational local businesswoman and the dedication of the supporters, it's now the largest fan-owned club in the UK. Last season we finished 3rd, qualified for Europe and averaged 18,000 at home. This is the way to go for any club that wants to avoid unhinged and destructive owners. After all, fan ownership hasn't done Barcelona or Bayern any harm...
I’ve always like Barry Town as I had family ties there. And I support a team much like Town in Torquay United. We even share the same colours. Not only that we too have been through the mill. Two owners who were quite mad. The first one bought the club using a Walsall guys pension fund. Poor guy. I met him and this levering guy was just like him. Then Clarke Osborne. Never let this guy anywhere near Barry Town. His only interest is development. And that involves buying the club. Getting the stadium and building houses on it. I have really enjoyed seeing Barry back in the premier league. I’m not sure They will ever get the big crowds back like the 80’s and 90’s. But you can only dream. This was a great video covering everything you could imagine and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will enjoy seeing Barry Town win the league again. Someone’s got to stop TNS.
I remember seeing Barr playing at Worcester City ground St George's Lane sadly it no longer exists,I do wish Barry supporters and Worcester City all the best
6:46 ‘they are turning their backs on the club they nearly killed’ coming from Lovering is incredible like how could he not see he was the one actively destroying the club
Do a video on Ipswich Town Ex owner - He was taken to court twice with his company doing dodgy stuff, he would never show his face publicly, for years we never knew who he was and literally gave nothing to the club to get players etc, hell 15 years
Both my brothers played for Barry in the middle/ late seventies, in the old Southern league , still got my Barry top though my mom threw out my old programmes against teams like Cambridge city and a Swedish touring team called Tranas Bois , god I thought I remembered more of them ! .
Isn't a similar thing happening to the Wurzburg Kickers in Germany? They were as high as Bundesliga 2 (2nd tier). Now they're in the Regionalliga (4th tier). They've gotten progressively worse over the past decade.
If the Welsh clubs currently playing in the English leagues were expelled and forced to play in the Welsh league then the extra revenue from that support would only help every other Welsh club. That is the solution to the Welsh football problem.
Except it wouldn't. They'd just become massively dominant and be like the Old Firm multiplied by 1000, with Cardiff and Swansea taking all the UEFA cash each year. In any case forcing them to is illegal under restraint of trade law. Caernarfon Town, Colwyn Bay and Newport County took the FAW to court to establish their right to play in England if they wished, and vice versa applies to TNS, Bucknell, Bishops Castle, and Newcastle AFC who are English teams in Welsh football. Caernarfon and Colwyn now play in Wales, but Merthyr remain in the English pyramid along with the EFL clubs. Welsh football is actually pretty good to watch, I know, I watch it. It doesn't need totally upending.
Behave. Years ago the Fa asked Cardiff City Swansea City Wrexham Newport County Merthyr Aberdare We’re all asked to join the English Pyramid due to big crowds. Do your research
Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish leagues should have a merger. Make them three Conferences. Have the top 4 clubs from each league play off for the British title.
Talking about Welsh football, they have an interesting statistic of having the only Welsh side to reach the group stage not be a Welsh representative. Let me explain, Swansea ruined the hopes and dreams of humanity a decade or so ago by beating 4th tier Bradford City in the League Cup Final and then somehow representing England even though Wales is not in fact a city in England. Flash forward to yesterday when The New Saints became the first Cymru Premier Division side to reach an European group stage even though they’re based in Oswestry England. England of course not being a city in Wales. If it finishes like this and if let’s say for example that Merthyr Tydfil and Berwick win the English and Scottish FA Cups this season and if TNS wins the Cymru Premier League then we’d have a weird scenario where Wales and Scotland would be represented by England whereas England would be represented by Wales.
Great story, Good for Barry they got back to where they were and happy again. Ipswich had a BS owner but not as bad as that!!! haha We thought we have 15 years of dross and relegation and no transfer funds was bad enough haha
I’m not familiar with welsh leagues however I worked for brief stint at Cefn Druids I’m aware what des Williams folded the team and is now looking to enter them again from what I’m aware he has ruined this Welsh club that had a history in Europe also I believe he still the owner of druids
If you decide to start uploading again, Enfield FC would be a good one. The Liverpool of non-league football and were also destroyed by their owner, but had fans create the very first fan owned club and have made it all the way to the Vanarama South this season... 2 promotions from the EFL and were unable to be promoted back before the club were destroyed.
To be fair, when he paid 125k for the club it had 1m of debt. So he effectively paid 1.125m so even the 495k price is less than half what he actually paid.
Lovering was a total tw@t but I know a few people who work for Barry Town United in various capacities (kitmen, photographers) and some of the new people there are apparently just as bad. One photographer employed by the club told me that he gets nothing from the club and has to drive to away games and pay for his own food and petrol. When he asked the board recently if he could go on contract with them, they said 'no' as they only believe in paying players, managers and coaches. One of the physios is only there due to work experience and everybody else gets nada, diddly squat. You're either in two camps at Barry Town United and other Welsh clubs - the have's or the have not's.

They attended the same event but each of them had to keep stepping out for various reasons, so they were never in the room at the same time 🤔
I used to watch Welsh football back in the mid to late ninety's. The opposition used to do a lap of honour if they scored against Barry.
How could the governing bodies let this happen? They had a decade to pull him out and they let him ruin the entire club
