That "what happens" is one of the best conceptual comedic lines ever, and the gag when the JC's turn up at the end, shreak and run off, is just icing on the perfect cake.
I have always enjoyed the commentary in that episode about how ridiculously expensive cinema snacks are, I remember when I was 5 my father took me to the cinema, I think we went to see one of the Land Before Time films or something, and he asked me if I wanted popcorn or pik n mix and even at that age I was like to be honest dad it's just too expensive for what it is
This needs a few additions also from "The Blackout" episode: when Gerald and Sarah 'blank' Bernard and he's eating "fizzigood makefeelnice" lol and when he's imagining what it's like to be a woman haha that entire episode is gold
Is this the season in which Bernard and Manny co-authored a thousand page children's novel about a troubled astrophysicist who falls prey to Stalinist persecution in 1940s Russia?
I was self-employed for years and the episode where he does his taxes was just so relatable. I even went full Bernard one year and did them with a bottle of wine by my side as it was the only way I’d make it through the process in one piece. Good luck with it. Try and be as organised as possible every week and then when it comes to year end, it won’t be so overwhelming. I did that the first year and it was a doddle. Then all good intentions went out the window and the following years were like Bernard - an absolute, anxiety-ridden nightmare.
He is asking them why they have kitchen stuff in their bathroom, cuz he took number two in their kitchen, while their son just came in to grab something from the fridge :-)
I remeber seeing an interview with Moran saying he would never work on a studio comedy again. Did something happen between him and channel 4, hence no 4th series or did he decide to end it and move onto something new at the time.
From watching the special features commentary on the DVD I think he just thought It had run its course and wanted to move on to something else. They definitely could have got a fourth season out of it imho. According to Bill Bailey there is some sort of reunion in being planned but no detail as of yet so I doubt there was any falling out. Moran is currently working on a new 5 part short form comedy series for the BBC based around psychiatry and mental health. Given his neurotic style, I can't wait to see what he comes up with.
Electrifyingly erotic in a Moran-gallows humor style. I totally relate to it yet would struggle to ever write about (akward situation LA-LA'S), fracking packed with Manny hair-dom chapters - Bill Bailey a perfect petulant gimmy!.
Declan Clayton From an ear that doesn't hear different Irish dialects perhaps but as an Irish man they sound completely different as they should because they both come from different parts of Ireland.
Dylan is from Meath and O'Down is from Roscommon, they sound completely different. O'Dowd has much bigger broader vowel sounds. His O sound is very different. Dylan could be from parts of Dublin.
@@steerpike66 Came here hoping to see angry Irish people correct that comment, glad to see I have not been disappointed. It would be like saying Bill Bailey sounds like Hugh Grant
There is no "best" of this TV show. It was so offensively stupid without a single redeeming quality. A bunch of no-talent hack writers who saw the movie "High Fidelity" and decided to rip off the one-dimensional conceit of "store owner who really doesn't want to sell anything" and stupidly tried to build an entire TV series around nothing more than that.
Black Books is a classic, even if you don't happen to like it. It was released on the same year as High Fidelity, no chance of it being any kind of rip-off, which is completely obvious anyway to anyone but you.
Dylan deserves more prominent film comedy work: his physical acting, timing, and pratfalls are absolutely beautiful.
He's said during one of his stand-up shows he doesn't like acting. It's a shame I have to say.
He'll be in pixie coming to cinemas real soon
where he bends 'out' of it, it's amazing
I think he’s more comfortable doing stand-up
2020 has turned me into Bernard black
Bernard Black where is your bookshop!!!
I see a lot of myself in him
🤣🤣🤣Yep! I'm feeling ya!
I’m feeling this❤
I've always been Bernard Black 😅
"I thought you had some sort of terrible disease" is terribly underrated
3:13 the ending tho
"What are you eating?" "It's some some of delicious biscuit."
"...it's a coaster!"
"Is it? Really? Are there any more?"
I would have loved to have seen a Christmas Black Books. I can just imagine Manny putting up decorations and Bernard throwing baubles at him 😅
HALF TEN???? I'VE NEVER BEEN UP AT HALF TEN! WHAT HAPPENS!!!????
That "what happens" is one of the best conceptual comedic lines ever, and the gag when the JC's turn up at the end, shreak and run off, is just icing on the perfect cake.
Me every day...shame my job starts as early as 8.30am on some days! 🙈
Pfft..
The bit where he takes a piss from his chair still cracks me up.
Yeah, that part sold me for the rest of the series. When Netflix ditch the show I purchased all the seasons on DVD.
1st joke in 1st episode of 1st season had me right there: _leatherbound pounds_ ... still has me in stitches every time.
"Is it real leather?"
"It's real Dickens"
I fancy Dylan Moran so much it’s unreal
Gurl same, there's just something about him
"You wouldn't understand what I'm talking about cause I'm talking about DIGNITY!" * trips down stairs*
woke up with a bit of a hang over......HUUUAAARRRGGH!!! 😂😂😂 (in stitches )
I miss this show so much...
Why not get the DVD set or something...
Unless you're American, there's no excuse for saying those words
Have you been banned from watching it then?
@minicle426 it's been cancelled...after 3 seasons or something they stopped making it.
Bernard is so cute oh my lord
Correct. You get 10 points.

Thats just what Dylan is like on the regular. Isnt even acting at all really.
